Katie has never been one to be enthusiastic about bugs. When she thinks of bugs, she thinks of ants, and immediately thinks of a dual-headed snake that frequently visits in flashbacks or reminders, leaving her drenched in a cold sweat even during winter.

Although she’s less than thrilled at seeing Ella eat a beetle, she also understands that harpies have different needs than demigods do. And if that meant munching on bugs that she didn’t want scuttling around in the first place, then so be it.

Calming chamomile, cheerful calendula ( and as a Roman, Ella is sure to appreciate that ), pastel and soothing lavender, purple passionflower, orange tangerine ( which reminds Katie of summer and warmer months to arrive ), all entwined with hawthorn, as these flowers should --- hopefully --- be useful in calming jittery nerves. She can’t blame Ella for being nervous, being in a new surrounding, ones where some people give less than thrilled looks or whisper about her as if she’s not welcome. Fortunately for Ella, Tyson is always at the ready to defend his harpy girlfriend, and can do so without the need of violence.

The taller girl laughs at the chattering she hears. It reminds her of the birds she has seen elsewhere --- in parks, in pet shops, and even a few family friends had some, too. Now, she doesn’t speak harpy, nor does she claim to, but with the bright look in Ella’s eyes and the eager fluttering of crimson wings, well, it’s enough to tell her that she’s extremely happy.

“You’re welcome!” Katie replies in return, very relieved to know that Ella appreciates the gesture so much. “You look wonderful! I think I have a mirror around here somewhere...or we could always just borrow one from Cabin 10, if you would like to see?”

      i gotta tag @titanslayer and @wingedpenumbra both in this tbh because, well, i mentioned about Nat in the last post but also Emilia is just a shining star in my life. they juggle so much but they’re always there for me with an ear, there’s a mutual trust between us regarding addressing more personal issues, and they indulge my cryptid hunting w/photos of their roommate? a TRUE cryptid? i’m blessed. (not to mention Emilia tags me in the cutest shit on fb holy crow)

      tbh @humbleswordplayer, though we don’t know each other very well, i see you on the dash dropping lil nuggets of positivity and eagerly greeting any character in the series with a warmth and sincerity through Paul’s character and it’s just. you’re always so good to see on the dash? and your little supportive comments on my posts mean a lot??? all signs point to you being a wonderful person and i hope you stick around because i’d love to get to know you. even if literally all of percy’s friends are thirsty for his stepdad.

Dragon: Tag someone who you see as really dedicated to their muse.

      @stygicniron does so very much. she’s so deeply in love with Nico and invested in writing his growth as a character, developing out any flaws or kinks in his writing and fleshing out an already rich and complex character into a beautiful young man. even though she’s got a busy life she still manages to write two beautiful boys, and Dodger and Nico both have such different voices that she pays mind to so carefully? give this woman an award, tbh. i could never have dreamed of having someone to develop Percy and Nico’s complicated relationship so wonderfully with when i made this blog, but there she is.

      i also have to give honorable mention to U, YES U KAT, because i see your snaps about your life and how much you have going on and yet you still try to get on Leo and at least yell about him a little quite frequently. even when you can’t keep threads going you’re there for meta and character building and shitposting. @zeusborn also gets this, because i’ve seen the tags on your posts and i know that you’re not technically supposed to be online, but you keep poking your head back in on Thalia and posting these wonderful little tidbits and i love it. y’all are all champs keeping your blogs up with your busy lives.

     it’s a lazy rainy day, the sky heavy with water. it sings a soothing song against the roof of their home, a background noise that never stops. 

     “we should bake something today,” euryale says, scooping ella up and ruffling her hair affectionately. “what are you in the mood for? something soft?”

     the kitchen is warm on days like this, feels somehow safer cocooned by all that rain, window curtains parted so they can watch it. (stheno had been training when it started this morning, and is still grumpy about being unable to go outside, playing at training with medusa in another room). 

     “we’ll make whatever you want. cookies? cake? brownies?”

Of course this had been a Meg McCaffrey idea. The entire thing seemed like something his precious garbage waif of a master would do. And Apollo couldnt even pretend to be surprised that the plan materialized during peace talks. Meg was not known for tact.

“You know, Ella, I dont think Tyson can get mad. For a cyclops, he’s a pretty easy going guy.” Not that Apollo had a lot of experience with cyclopses. Cyclopsi? Whatever.

“You more surprised everyone than anything else. It was a pretty good sneak attack.”
