❌ The Swallowtail Butterfly ❌ This piece has a background story that makes it so near and dear to my heart. It all started when I was only 8 and my parents gave me my first ever digital camera. I had been dreaming over it for so long because, you guessed it, I wanted so badly to photograph all the butterflies that came feeding on the lavender bushes in the garden from April to October. The variety of shapes, colours, attitudes and flights of all those butterflies enchanted me deep in my soul, but it made me so sad that I could only appreciate that delicate beauty for a moment. Just like a metaphor of a butterfly's life, I couldn't stand my inability to capture those magical creatures in a more durable form - a photograph in that case. Then, the morning of my 8th birthday I woke up to a decently big wrapped box. YES. That (now) old and bold camera signed the start of a still burning flame for photography. That day I skipped all my school classes. I HAD TO go and photograph the butterflies. And you could bet I was jumping all around my garden in ecstatic mood, like a butterfly myself, flying from flower to flower looking for my precious friends. And there it came: a majestic swallowtail butterfly appeared to me out of nowhere. Was I daydreaming? There was only one way to know: took my brand new camera and snapped that first shot. It was real, tangible. To you, my good ol' winged friend, I offer an eternal silver portrait.
