a  rare  moment  alone,  away  from  soldiers  and  politicians  and  padawans  and,  for  once,  just  them.  satine  realizes,  all  at  once  and  with  a  sudden  surge  of  rare  shyness,  that  she  has  no  idea  what  to  say,  much  less  do.  (it  worries  her,  this  faltering  that  always  seem  to  arise  when  he  is  here,  when  steeled  heart  quickens  its  pace  behind  her  ribs  like  she  was  a  girl  once  more.)  “if  you  have  need  of  anything,”  she  stands  quickly  and  pale  fingers  glide  over  the  dark  silk  of  her  gown,  “i  will  see  to  it  personally.  you  are  a  guest  here,  after  all,  and-”

silence  falls  as  calloused  fingers  wrap  gently  around  her  wrist  and  careful  words  die  on  her  tongue.  “please  don’t  go,”  obi-wan  states  simply,  quietly,  and  satine  pauses. (she  wonders  if  it  is  supposed  to  ache  so,  this  heart  of  her’s,  or  whether  that  is  what  it  feels  like  to  have  it  grow.)  

“even  a  please?”  pale  brow  arches  as  clever  retort  works  to  mask  softened  gaze,  “it  isn’t  often  i  hear  generals  say  please.” 

 lips  curve  into  rare  grin,  gesture  very  nearly  shy  in  its  gentle  pleasure,  and  she  nods  as  regal  posture  eases.  “you  know  i’ll  stay,”  hand  twists  lightly  within  his  grasp,  slender  fingers  wrapping  around  his  own,  “i’ll  always  stay.”

——    ✰   STEVEN   LOOKS   TO   HER   WITH   SURPRISE ,      but   within  a   moment   it’s   replaced   with   softcore   agitation ,  tyeven   standing  his   ground   on   his   hardened   morals.  he   had   no   idea   his   mother’d  done   this ,  and   if   he   had   he   would’ve  saved   her  by   himself   if   he   had   too.   even   if   it   meant   tearing   through   the   diamonds   to   get   to   her.   he   refused   to   ever   leave   an   innocent   to   a   horrible   fate ---  even   if   his   mother   had   done   it   appearently.
