Everyone was quiet as we drove back to the sheriff’s retreat. I was still in shock from the news that not only were monsters real, but I had killed a real live vampire not 30 minutes ago. What the cuss!
“You did good, Hanscum.” Jody said from the seat next to me. “I know this is a lot to take in believe me.”
“I don’t know about you three, but I need a drink,” Dean muttered. Dean sure drank a lot, even for an Alpha, not that it was any of my business. But if what we had just seen was any indication of the crap he and Sam dealt with on a regular basis, no wonder!
“And I need a shower!“ I said, trying to wipe the blood off the side of my face. I only succeeded in smearing it on my nose.
“I wanna go somewhere no one knows I’m a sheriff. Meet back here in 30 minutes?” Jody got out of the car and walked away without waiting for an answer. Something told me she wasn’t really asking. It still amazed me that Jody wasn’t an Alpha. Alpha females were rare, and she sure acted like one, but there was no doubt about it, she was a Beta.
“Uh, Sheriff? You have blood on your nose. C’mere.” Dean reached over and with a swipe of his thumb, he wiped the blood away. The cocky grin immediately left his face the instant his skin touched mine, and he looked at me like he wanted to say something.
I felt his touch all the way to my bones, and I shivered. I knew he was an Alpha, but why did he have to smell so damn good? For a minute we just stared at each other, until I pulled away. His touch made me really self-conscious. He was gorgeous, and I was divorced and needed to lose twenty pounds. I quickly put some distance between us so i could think.
“So now that I’m a member of your monster-killing gang, I think you can call me Donna, ‘kay?” I teased in an effort to lighten the mood.
It took two shots before my hands stopped shaking. Sam and Jody were deep in whispered conversation. They weren’t sharing, and I wasn’t asking. I suspected there was something more going on between them, but I wasn’t sure.
"So now what? Am I just supposed to go back to my life and pretend none of this ever happened? How am I not going to see monsters around every corner, huh?” I looked at Dean wearily as I downed my third shot.
“We can teach you what to look for, and how to protect yourself. You can always call me if you come across something you're not sure about.” Dean told me as he ordered another round.
“Be prepared to talk to me a lot,” I muttered under my breath.
Dean grinned at me. “I wouldn’t mind that.”
I was starting to feel fuzzy around the edges from the shots. “You really should smile more. You always look so cranky.” I told Dean. Did I really just say that out loud? “I know you’ve got the whole broody Alpha thing going on, but you have a great smile.”
“And you should wear your hair down more. That uniform really hides how pretty you are.” He said in a low voice that sent a flush through me.
I looked down at my jeans and blue t-shirt in surprise. Apparently, he was feeling the effects of the alcohol too, because he was clearly seeing things. Was he flirting with me? Yeah, Donna, you wish. Men who looked like Dean didn’t flirt with girls like me.
Sam and Jody finally finished their talk and rejoined the conversation. “You kicked ass, Sheriff!” Sam said. “Jody has been dealing with this stuff for years so she knows what she’s doing. But you held it together.”
Jody held up her beer and tipped it in my direction. “You saved my life back there. I owe you one.”
“You woulda done the same for me.” We smiled at each other and I knew I’d made a real friend.
Jody, Dean, and Sam were obviously much better at holding their liquor than I was. As soon as I stood up to leave the room tilted sideways and I almost fell into the table next to us.
“Looks like someone can’t hold her booze.” Dean rolled his eyes. “Sammy grab her before she hurts herself!”
“Stuff it, Dean! I can walk!” I snapped. “Bossy Alpha!” Sam grabbed my arm to help me anyway but I shoved him off.
Dean pushed Sam aside and grabbed my hand. “Come on, drunk girl, walk with me.”
I sure was feeling good. And strong. “I killed a vampire tonight.” I sort-of-whispered to Dean. “They’re real, you know.”
Dean put his finger to my lips to shush me. “Shhh! It’s a secret, remember?”
I started giggling uncontrollably, suddenly finding the whole thing very amusing. “Oops. I forgot.”
“You're cute when you're drunk,” Dean whispered in my ear. “Omega.” His warm breath in my ear was definitely doing things to me in places south of the equator.
Sam and Jody shoved me into the car and we headed back to the retreat.
“Where are you guys staying? The hotel is full because of the sheriff’s convention.” Jody asked.
“Crap. I guess we’re sleeping in the car then.” Sam said unhappily. Dean groaned.
“My room has two beds if you don’t mind sharing,” Jody commented.
Sam and Dean looked at each other. ”No way in hell I’m sharing a bed with him. He snores like you wouldn’t believe!” Dean griped.
“At least I don’t talk in my sleep!” Sam shot back.
“I have an extra bed in my room too.” I piped up. Dean looked over at me.
“Perfect! Sam can stay with me and Dean can bunk with you Donna, problem solved.” Jody didn’t notice how I blushed.
“Um…okay, fine,” I said weakly. Like there was a chance I will be able to sleep with Dean in the same room with me.
When we got back to the hotel, I saw a bunch of the sheriffs were hanging out at the bar. I was pretty tipsy, so Dean was holding onto me to keep me from falling down.
Doug my ex-husband came walking up to me as soon as we entered. "You okay, Donna?"
Jody rolled her eyes heavenward. I had no idea that Jody had filled Sam and Dean in on everything Doug had said to me. As soon as Dean saw the other Alpha, his posture stiffened. “She’s FINE, Doug. Back off!” He practically snarled.
Doug held up his hands in a placating gesture. “Okay, okay! Just making sure! I’ll catch ya later, Donna!”
“Dick!” I heard Dean say under his breath. He turned to me. “Are you ready to go?”
“We’ll meet in the morning for breakfast?” Jody asked me.
“Sounds good,” Dean said as Sam and Jody headed off.
“Where is your room?” Dean asked me. I just looked at him, temporarily unable to speak. I was sleeping with Dean. IN THE SAME ROOM. Oh god!
“Give me your key.” He demanded.
I immediately fished my room key out of my jeans and handed it to him. He looked at it, grabbed his duffel bag, and my hand and pulled me across the lobby. I could see Doug was watching us, and Dean was staring him down as we walked by. He finally backed down and turned away, sipping his beer.
I was still pretty wobbly, so Dean held on to me tightly as we rode the elevator to the 4th floor. We were the only ones riding, and Dean seemed to fill the small space. His scent was everywhere. I could feel myself responding, slick just pouring out of me.
I prayed that he couldn’t tell. I bit back a moan. I needed to get to the room and dose myself up with suppressants or something. This was gonna be a long-ass night.
We finally stopped in front of the door, and Dean opened it and moved to let me go in ahead of him. I went to turn on the light, but before I could move, he had me pinned against the wall.
“Doug was stupid to let you go.”
The length of his body was pressed against mine, and I could feel the hard bulge of him against my stomach. He swallowed my gasp of surprise and his tongue invaded my mouth, licking and biting.
It was as though a dam had burst, and I turned into a wild woman, pulling him closer in order to taste any part of him I could reach. He yanked my t-shirt over my head and pulled my bra off, sucking and biting my nipples until I was seeing stars.
“Dean. Bed.” I moaned in between kisses, pretty sure if I didn’t he would fuck me against the wall.
He walked me to the bed, each of us flinging the others clothes everywhere. He didn’t play around, he was too eager for me. There would be time for that later. When he slid into me I felt the burn of the stretch that bordered on pain. He filled me like no man had ever done before.
Dean Winchester spent the night worshipping my body, making love to me so many times that when I finally passed out in an endorphin-fueled coma hours later, it was morning.
I woke tangled in Dean’s warmth, my phone blaring loud enough to wake us both. It was a text from Jody.
Jody: Meet us in the restaurant in an hour for breakfast?
I looked over at Dean. “We have to get up.”
He pulled me closer to his side and without opening his eyes said, “No.”
I smiled and kissed him gently before trying to get up to shower. He groaned and tried to start something but I pulled away regretfully. “Didn’t you get enough last night?”
So after we had both showered and packed up, I looked in the mirror. This was gonna be hard to explain. My neck was covered in bite marks and hickeys. It was gonna be obvious what had happened.
Dean scratched his neck. “Listen, Donna....” He began.
I held up a hand. “It’s okay, Dean. I get it. It was the alcohol and the adrenaline from the hunt. You don’t have to explain.”
“Would you shut up and let me finish?” He said, giving me a tender smile. I think you're badass, and sexy as hell. I want to see you again.”
“You do?” I said incredulously. “What was with all that possessive Alpha stuff, anyway?”
“You're supposed to be mine,” Dean said firmly, and my heart soared.
“What are we gonna tell Sam and Jody?” I asked.
“The truth.”
Sam and Jody were already seated when we arrived at the restaurant. Jody and I looked at each other and burst out laughing. Jody too was covered in bruises and bite marks. Apparently, Dean wasn’t the only Winchester who liked it rough.
“So I guess we all had a good night last night?” I said, and everyone laughed.
