When the founder/creator dies he leaves clues to his fortune and the ownership of The OASIS within The OASIS, and a race begins between everyday users and a VR conglomorate IOI determined to profit from it. If you haven’t read the book - do so! The movie was awesome, but I’d still go with the book, though only slightly. The new first challenge and when he finally figures it out? or the almost 100% more Shining than there is in the book (including the two scenes that super scared me as a child)? OMG. And though there wasn’t a physical Curator or building for the archive for the characters to go to and interact with in the book, they were cool, and the twist with the curator at the end👍🏼 Too bad we couldn’t have seen more of #SimonPegg. The avatars in the OASIS looked a little more stylized than I had pictured, and Parzival’s hair always moving was kind of annoying until Art3mis put a stop to it. Serrento’s avatar made me laugh, and then groan, such a blockhead, but those eyes. And #TJMiller’s I-R0k was funny. Did #BenMendelsohn do something to his teeth for the role? is that how he normally sounds? The drones - ohmylord - (kinda Bladerunner-y and F’Nale reminded me of Gazelle from Kingsman). I liked the infiltration of IOI better in the book, that escape plan was a bit cooler. #SpoilerAlert: super glad Flower Lady (Mrs. Gilmore?) didn’t die.
