A year ago I was trying to run with an extra 35lbs on one side of my body. . I desperately wanted to run so the only thing I could do was "run" on the elliptical. I imagined myself running on a treadmill with my lymphedema being as close to nonexistent as possible. 🤨 . EVERYDAY I INVISIONED THIS.🤔 . When I was 20, I remember crying at the kitchen sink as I cleaned baby bottles and thinking this was my life. All "my" dreams went down the drain along with the suds.

.

Of course, I never anticipated a road of sickness, disease, abuse, being homeless, adultery, adoption, death and loneliness...

.

As I walked this DARK road, I stayed focused and I wasn't going to settle for a mediocre life. It just wasn't enough for me personally.

.

Every set back made me stronger than the time before. I knew the only way I could go is up so I kept climbing as I carried these burdens on my back.

.

As I sit here and think about my trials, all I can say is "the devil was busy trying to keep me down." BUT GOD.

.

Today... I LOVE MY LIFE. Of course, I would have NEVER picked this path for me but then again, I didn't. 😉

.

My calling is difficult because I'm in the driver seat with my disease. I deal with chronic illnesses every day and will for the rest of my life, therefore; I will always be reminded of my calling.

.

I know @ninjas_fighting_lymphedema will continue to grow and evolve into something much greater than me because I will NEVER forget why I do this.

.

I want to leave a legacy by engraving my name into hearts, not on a tombstone.

1981-Born with a "rare" incurable disease. . 2013-FINALLY diagnosed with Lymphedema. . 2015-First time meeting someone else with this "rare" disease. . 2015/16-Learned Lymphedema or any other lymphatic diseases effects up to 10 million Americans and hundreds of millions worldwide, so why are we considered "rare" with these staggering statistics? . Because the world was silent, including myself...That's why and when the world is silent, my voice would be POWERFUL if I became brave and came out of the darkness of lymphedema. I knew the only way I could find my voice was to use it. .
