A temporary setback

“Spring” in mid-Michigan lasted three days. But anybody here who thought it was the real thing has a short memory. You just never know what side of the bed a March day will wake up on.

As for us, we awoke this morning with snow on the ground and wind that rattled the windows. Pure winter.

Today outside temperatures aren’t expected to break out of the 30s. There’s a high wind advisory and a “wintry mix” - a specialty of March - will fall all day. Tomorrow looks similar.

But, we shouldn't despair. As I’ve said before, the salve for our winter-weary souls lies not in the March’s mercurial weather, but in it’s steadily growing light.

As a wise man once said, accidents don't just happen accidentally

You know, it's actually kind of funny that winter returned yesterday, of all days.

See, in Welsh mythology, there's this guy called Gwynn ap Nudd who's the ruler of the Otherworld. He's also the leader of the Wild Hunt and is associated with winter.

What does this have to do with yesterday?

Well, it's like this. Gwynn is known by several other names, depending on who you're talking to or which part of Britain you're in. One of his names is the same as that of the Christian Archangel who is said to be most active during winter.

And that's why it's hilarious.

(Fun fact: Both Gwynn and the aforementioned Archangel are associated with blowing horns and death.)

what the fuck michigan. i mean. seriously. april is next week. i love winter as much as the next person, but come on. i think you have an addiction. do you want me to take you to therapy? there's a really nice place i call WHERE'S THE GODDAMN SUN. i think you would like it. i mean, at least consider it.
