Thinking about Superbat. Reverse superbat to be more specific. Also leaving specifics aside, the idea of billionaire Clark Kent and Reporter Bruce Wayne is literally eating away at my brain.

Clark still being Clark in his essence and doing everything he could for Gotham from a very young age. Bruce still being Bruce in his essence looking for the truth and trying to get justice for the ppl who deserve it. Something about, Bruce not completely sold on the idea of Clark Kent being a 'not shady' billionaire. Bruce investigating everything abt the Kent Enterprises and finding everything clean. Every single picture Kent has on the net is all smiles and Rainbows, every comment about him on the net filled positively to the verge of making Bruce barf. And ofc, there's Superman. It takes Bruce 2 months to figure out that Superman is the billionaire Clark Kent. How? Bcoz Clark's an idiot, in Bruce’s initial opinion anyway.

After figuring that out, Bruce makes it his personal mission to push Clark to the verge of admitting it, so he does what any sensible and professional journalist does, constantly bombarding Clark Kent for personal interviews. To Bruce’s surprise (and kind of annoyance) Clark accepts every single one of them, and spends hours talking to Bruce. They spend all the time talking about Clark's plan for the company, his opinions on Gotham, his views on meta humans, his childhood, etc. And everyday, patiently, Bruce adds a new string to his theory board, finding out everything about Superman there is to know, bcoz he could be potential threat.

Clark on the other hand is confused about this months long situationship.

I love that genre of superbat fics where Bruce is attracted to Clark from the start yeah, but he gets a real full blown panic throw up crush on him when he sees Clark with his kids. His kids enjoying spending time with Clark, Clark comforting them if they get injured on a mission alongside him. Like Bruce's absolute pathetic crush ALWAYS starts after he sees Superman with Robin and something inside him just ACTIVATES.

Lowk it's such a good parallel between A and N (it's very visible in the LT route but you can see it in seperate routes too) that over time everything about A's dynamic with the detective and N's dynamic with the detective switches almost scarily. A starts seeing detective as not just a fragile human being but a strong and capable person, they start laying off the "it's my duty to protect them" overprotectiveness from book 1, like they understand their orders but slowly learn how to not be overbearing and let the detective be an individual who is self-dependant but open to seeking help if needed.

Whereas N on the other hand constantly mentioning that the detective can handle themselves well in book 1 to "at the end of the day they are still human, their life is much more fragile in comparison to supernaturals" by book 3. They don't think that detective is any less capable but their need to protect them and the realization of detective's humanity far surpasses their confidence in the detective's capabilities in book 3 (similar to A regarding humanity in book 1) they learn to reel it in but those feelings very obviously prolong to the book 4 demo.

I believe the BIGGEST catalyst of this change in dynamic was Sanja's vision abt each of them (ik not everyone goes through that route but at least in the ones who DO go to the fortune teller, it makes more sense there— to me at least) bcoz N was not as paranoid abt the detective's safety in the first half of book 2 as they were in second and then later on, whereas Sanja's revelation abt A only made them more certain abt their feelings than repulsing them back to their original stand on these things.

This is one of the best showcase of what I observed -> LT route, no relationship, book 3:

While I don't think what I observed was the main purpose of this scene, it's very transparent in showing how A has accepted that the detective is not just a "human being" (that they thought of in a generalized way before) but that they are an individual of their own and cannot be caged just bcoz they are not as strong as their environment. While N gets that, it's the erratic panic that makes it difficult for them to think rationally, assuming that the only way to keep the detective safe is to keep them away from everything (Which is exactly what A believed in the first book.)

Over the course of 3 books and book 4 demo, we are obviously well aware that all the members of UB are vampires. Trained, professional government(s) agent vampires, but vampires nonetheless. I would have really loved to see them BE more "vampiric" if that makes sense! They clear a lot of myths in b1 that don't apply to them, but I would've really loved so many of them to be applied. They don't feel like they are very much vampires, given how less we even see them using their physical abilities in the book other than just fights and not wanting to sit in the detective's car lol. There are no quick movements, and even the bloodlust bit that vampires are famous for only comes up a handful of times.

It would've been interesting to see them have things like "not entering a place without permission" which would make a lot of their way to navigate around missions a bit different! Silverware is very subjective from detective to detective but it would've been fun to see if they had some kind of reaction to it! I like that they have their pheromone abilities, but they even mention that they don't use it a lot anymore so it feels like a wasted potential. "Compelling" with their pheromones would've brought newer angles on how they could've navigated wayhaven as a whole.

I feel like UB's potential as Vampires is not really well utilized in the books. Even if throwing everything else out of the window, just the bloodlust itself was the main focus of the vampires of this world, their hesitation towards the detective in so many aspects would've felt at a higher stake than now. They all seem to function fine around humans and even with only the detective's blood being more appetizing, they have no problem with proximity with them unless it's like breathing the same air level of close. Ik it allows for a lot of scenes in the book to work better since they don't have such limitations, but idk, I'm mostly just yapping that it'd be kind of interesting to see.

Kind of curious to know, everyone who chose Bobby as an ex option - what was the reason your detective broke up with them? (Other than the obvious Bobby being an ass)

Obsessed with the parallels that once A finally open themselves up to accept their feelings for the detective, it's like a a huge dam breaking and they cannot hold back, whereas when N finally realize the depth of their own affections towards the detective, their walls that were once made of thick translucent glass, start closing up brick by brick.

Love how Rebecca has canonically traumatized the detective but we all have a different take on that.
