Today I’ve been moss hunting. It’s been consistently below zero all week and while the central heating boiler in our house has been broken all that time 🥶, nature hasn’t given up up outside. Our Christmas eve hike turned out to be more fruitful than I expected. 🥶 Mushrooms never cease to amaze me. “Winter chanterelle” and “yellowfoot chanterelle” are both very appropriate common names for these Craterellus tubaeformis. We found enough of these to make a pot of soup. We also found some golden chanterelles and a bunch of good bellybutton hedgehogs.
