Some Like It Cold

Vacationing is a time to get away from your normalcy. People work all year around and sometimes, if at all, will have a chance to get away one time during the entire year! Families from everywhere are scrambling and rushing to the beach or where it's warm. Some people use their winter holidays to go to the warm places which allows them to avoid the cold weather. But it's ironic how many people like to vacation during a time when the climate isn't hot. Some people actually like it cold! Many people who live in warm climates or near beaches are not impressed by beaches or warm weather. They see that as a part of their normalcy and like to vacation where it's cooler. Just as there are summer and water sports, there are winter sports and activities. So where is a good place to go when it's cold? One popular destination often gets overlooked is the Poconos Mountains. Known in the winter for their snowy wonderland adventures, Poconos, PA makes for the perfect cozy, winter getaway. There are plenty of options! You can visit a snow-covered mom and pop store in historical downtown. You can participate in one of the many winter activities such as ice skating, sledding, snow tubing, or skiing (just to name a few) or you can snuggle in front of a fireplace with a large mug of hot chocolate with marshmallows. It's a nice place to visit during other parts of the year as well. Whichever you choose, just be sure you are able to unwind for your busy, every day life and enjoy what the mountains have to offer. It snowed again yesterday afternoon, but unfortunately it turned to rain halfway through and resulted in ice. Lots and lots of ice. You learn quickly to walk through the grass rather than pavement on days like that. Especially if it happened overnight when the temperature had opportunity to drop.
