You have me very curious with “Bartender-Tells-Tale-of-Forbidden-OOT Zelink (or TP Zelink I can’t decide)” 👀 Would you be able to share more?

Oh yeah of course! I’ve been sitting on it for months. It turned into a thick story since I haven’t done something like it before, but I’m keeping it a one-shot.

I want it to read like a folk tale almost? The whole premise is that a young Gerudo visits Castle Town to document the coronation of Hyrule’s next queen after Queen Zelda dies. She stops in a bar that’s sluggish from the night celebrations before.

And now that I’m looking for the document I’m realizing that it’s in a hard drive in another state. :) I’m gonna try to give a little snippet from memory:

The bartender just barely looks over her spectacles as she wipes the counter with a tattered rag. “We celebrate her because we know the costs of her freedom.”

Orianna sniffs her ale, not really minding the old woman until now.

“The princess is being celebrated because your culture deems change in power important,” she says with a flicking motion.

[Then the narration transitions to what I really want to write.]

Link never really slept when she visited. 

In the beginning, she would take leave to him for a handful of days, then it turned to weeks. Months every other winter.

They had always been careful with each other, especially when her ‘vacations’ started. Time was always fleeting, never really long enough. Link had learned early on that he was a man without water without her -- she wasn’t even sleeping in his bed then.

 Zelda breathes deeply in her sleep and nuzzled her nose between the sheets and his shoulder. By now, he had given up the tug-of-war with his own sleep. Link’s fingers gently moved her hair back, the roots were graying and she fretted over them for reasons that were beyond him. Age graced her in ways that would curse him.

“Go to sleep,” she whispered, sending a slight jolt in him.

When Link doesn’t answer right away, she betrays a sleep-wrought smile. 

“Safflina is doing wonders in school. The boys are too caught up in adventures to think about military,” Zelda yawns, “And I have another month with you.”

He ignores the yawn in his own chest to pull her closer.

“Saff is like you. I have nothing to worry about.”

She wrinkles her nose. “Your daughter has your prowess. You have everything to worry about once she is queen.”

Link scoffs. The twins were meant to be troublemakers of their own, but they were also a perfect mixture of hellfire and sensibility -- as if Hylia wanted to see his children mucking up Hyrule and putting it together again.

Their oldest, however, was his pride and joy. Her intelligence was astounding and she was a force of nature on her own. Safflina would take care of her little brothers while raising hell in her own way.

“The council....“ Link trailed off, a little too caught up in his own thoughts when it came to his little girl.

“-ends with me,“ Zelda finished. She was a little more awake now and traced circles on his back. “We know this, my love. Jon is ensuring it in my absence and his letter this morning is a testament. She, and you, have nothing to worry about.”

It’s about how everyone in Hyrule knew that Zelda and the hero had something going on and that her marriage was a farce. She totally married a really good politician who just happened to be gay.

I also like to think that they had twin boys who are chaotic good going around accidently setting things on fire, getting in trouble, while also being kind to those who need it.

Night wip posting because what is anything anymore Basically working on too many big thingies at the time and failing miserably while doing so. Have a little wip thingy to recompensate the waiting and get you a bit excited! 1 out of 8 heads is done, doing great The second thingie I’m currently working on is a redraw of my boy floating with ghosts from two years ago, but I’m failing him over and over in traditional, so maybe you’ll get more digital this time C: Enjoy! Psst! After finishing those I really want to scribble some Avatar the last Airbender doodles, because I luv it so much and I’m currently doing a rewatch with my brother despite watching it for the first time few weeks ago *u* Sorry for my night ramblings, I hate to keep you waiting, especially because I’m really pleased with the doodle above so far and can’t wait to share full piece with you!
