Wilson's Phalarope (Phalaropus tricolor). Family Scolopacidae, order Charadriiformes.

While typically in bird species the male is brighter and more colorful than females, in this species it's the opposite! The colorful birds are the females while the duller ones are male.

Female Wilson's Phalarope also usually take the role in courtship instead of males, and the males are the ones who incubate the eggs and care for the young.
