Glad to have you! This comic was inspired by a short fic Ellipsis wrote. We had been speculating on what Chara would be like if they didn’t die so young, but Ellipsis’ fic gave this premise a true story.

Thank you both! We worked really hard to fit Chara’s dialogue into Asriel’s canon lines in a way that felt natural. Some of the lines are phrased a little oddly so it was a bit harder than anticipated. Ellipsis really worked her magic.

(Regarding the last page of the interlude.) That would make a great save point message.

Each page takes quite a long time! Off the top of my head, here’s how long everything typically takes.

Writing/editing the script and thumbnails: 1 hour

Initial sketch: 2-4 hours

Lining: 6-10 hours

Backgrounds: 2-3 hours

Color blocking: 2-3 hours

Lighting, Lettering, Effects, other adjustments: 3-5 hours

Total per page: 16-26 hours per page. That’s 32-52 hours each week! Some pages take much longer if we try something new, but we’re always looking for ways to speed up and streamline our process.

i followed your exile blog too! and it got me into exiles and i ended up making my own set of exile fancharacters whom i then recycled into my own baller original fiction! so thank you thank you thank you without you these guys wouldn't exist

are there any fanfic tropes/aus that you dislike?

There are.  I hate anything to do with unecessary miscommunication for the sake of ~*~drama~*~.

Let me explain: character A and character B are human adults who speak the same language and have had no problems exchanging information up until this point.  Then for SOME REASON, character A says something harmless in a way that’s INCREDIBLY VAGUE and character B hears it as “I am cheating on you” or “I never really loved you” or “you are worthless to me” or some other RIDICULOUS THING and runs crying off into the night.

I hate it so much.  It’s such a lazy way to inject drama into a story.

For a similar reason, i hate: starting a story in media res at the high point of conflict (lazy way to generate interest), having characters not go to the cops after the have enough evidence to prove their case (lazy way to make your characters part of the action), using macabre language in your writing before you’ve established a macabre story (see example 1).

I also hate that thing some stories do where they describe a lady character as ~strong~ and ~skilled~ and ~intelligent~, only to have the main villain swat her to the side like yesterday’s huffpost article.  Put your money where your mouth is, stories!  Have lady characters that are actually strong and smart and cool!

There are plenty of tropes that i have serious umbrage with.  These are the ones i thought of off the top of my head.
