happy mail

oh the letters i write over coffee while the world wakes up, or else at night so late the sun’s close to rising but im filled with words and felt tip pen stained fingers. 

i love having penpals. sending swaps of recipe cards and pocket letters. if anyone wants to write, i’m happy to send first a little letter all about my day and my garden.

So happy I got a Yule card in the mail today. I’m sure it arrived at my office over the weekend, but I’m glad I got to start my Monday morning off with well wishes from @lavender-tarot Thanks for the perfect card friend! Happy Yuletide and cheers to the second day of Saturnalia!

How the Mail is Delivered in the Netherworld

Thinking about, as I sketch out the back of Netherworld Post's shipping manifest, the very first graphic design books I ever bought (2003? 2004? Somewhere around there) were how to squeeze every production budget dime to do Something Cool and Scott McCloud's Understanding Comics

Flipping paper over and printing black ink on the back is (nearly) free if you're printing at home (I will + most folks do). If you are making your shipping receipts/manifests fancy (WHY, get a LASER PRINTER), professional printers can do this pretty cheaply too

In my instance, the reverse side is going to be a guide on how the Netherworld Post Office delivers mail to ghosts, goblins, mermaids, witches, and monsters of all kind.

I'm also going to spotlight individual letter carriers over time, so you can get to know some great creepers
