Sorry I ask so much but I really need help with visualization. I don't even get visuals on psychedelics, but I dream vividly? Any tips/exercises/rituals that might help?
No worries at all. Sorry about how long it took me to respond to this!
Visualization is one of (in my opinion) the most important aspects of casting a spell. The reason I say this is because once you get grounded (in my opinion THE most important part of any witchcraft) a lot of power can be derived from visualization.
But how do you visualize? Well I’ve never used psychedelics so I can’t help with visualizing using them (I can’t imagine it being successful though, normally visualization ((for me at least)) takes a slow heart rate and relaxation.)
Ground yourself. Let’s just say that you are grounding yourself inside for this because it’s the easiest to practice with. Lay on the floor. Focus on how hard (not uncomfortable, but just hard) the floor is. Imagine that you are an extension of the floor. As you relax your muscles and slow your breathing, imagine that your legs, arms, torso and the part of your head that is touching are melting into the floor. Feel the connection.
From that state of mind then begin to visualize a place. Have you been to the ocean before? It’s a good one to practice with. Imagine the warm air on your face. Imagine the floor that you are connected to is sand, taste the salt in your mouth. Hear the waves crash, the seagulls scream and the sand adjusting with your body. Breathe this all in. Keep breathing it in. Each breath you taste, feel, and hear the ocean.
You see what you did there? You just visualized that shit. Good fucking job.
I learned how to visualize when I went to the conservatory for acting in NYC. (Witchcraft and acting are very similar in a lot of ways) Places are what we started with. Then you move on to situations, IE imagine/visualize that you studied really hard for that exam and that you passed. IE imagine/visualize that you were moving to a new state by yourself. What would that feel like? What would that taste like? What would that sound like? What are you wearing? What would that smell like?
Let me tell you, it takes constant practice. We practiced visualization in some form every.single.day at school when I was in college. That’s five days a week for a year.
Hope this helps a little bit! :)
