This job hadn’t been ideal, going undercover to try and stop Trevor Philips. In theory, it should have been relatively easy, but as Matt had spent time with the man and his cronies, he had become friends with Trevor’s daughter. She was a sweet young woman and one who he knew could be so much more than what she had found herself doing. Intelligent, witty, determined, she had the capability to do anything she wanted, but she was stuck there. As they hung out, the truth about his real identity had come out and he had promised to help her find a new life, feeling that he had an additional task at hand. But when push came to shove, she was still Trevor Philips’ daughter and now his secret was out.
“You’ve always got a choice, Winnie, remember?” he commented, ignoring the way the man holding him pressed the gun harder against his neck. Matt could see the glisten of tears in her eyes, showing that their friendship clearly was enough to make her hesitate. He could try to escape, he knew that he could easily overpower this one man, but then what? He wouldn’t be able to hurt Winnie, as he had come to care about her safety, but where would that leave them?
