26th may / @emilbecker
A package arrives at Emil’s house on the 26th May, the day after May left the temporary hospital she’d made of their house to return home. Inside the box are some new white towels and sheets (sustainable, of course), a bottle of wine, a large quantity of FairTrade chocolate, and a potted plant. On top of all of this sits a handwritten note, which reads:
Emil,
You’ve saved my life metaphorically on countless occasions, and now you’ve saved it literally. If friendships were a competition, I definitely think you’d be winning.
Nothing I can possibly say or do will be adequate thanks for what you’ve done for both myself and Gwen, but I thought replacing the sheets and towels that I bled all over might be a good start.
Please come and see us both when you’re feeling rested and we’ll cook you dinner and shower you with praise.
All my love and gratitude,
May
