the death eater hits the wall with a thud, a combination of the defensive spell and impact sending the other to the ground. albus turns around to continue on, james undoubtedly closer than he felt, but there’s too much chaos around him to discern his brother from the others around him. his hair is disheveled, and albus doesn’t feel the bruise on his jaw just yet. he knows he looks worse for wear, but he’s here for a reason, even if he wasn’t supposed to go on this rescue mission in the first place and happened to be at the right place at the right time to overhear their plans. he turns a corner with his wand raised at the ready, unsure of where he was going or who was going to be on the other side. he startles for a moment upon seeing the other but his shoulders relax when he sees his father. albus pauses for a moment, feelings of relief and dread washing over him because his father is still standing and as safe as he could be but he knows his parents will be livid that he followed them there. “dad,” he breathes out, and the relief overpowers the dread for just a moment before the realization hits. “please save the lecture for when we get home.” / @misericors
