5: Were you nervous about putting your OC out there? How long did it take before you decided to play your OC here on Tumblr.

To be honest, I didn’t really think about it that much?  Like, I discovered that tumblr existed through Pinterest, I discovered there was a RP section of tumblr, and I sort of immediately threw out first Duvessa and then Vivian.  Maybe a week or two later I realized that most people had RP-dedicated blogs, which is when Duvessa got hers.  Vivian stayed a part of my personal blog until shortly before AoS premiered.  The night of AoS’s premiere I switched her name to ‘agentharrisonofshield’ so other SHIELD RPs would recognize me.

I don’t think at any point I ever hesitated about making an RP blog for my OCs.  I mean, I’d thrown my OCs out into the wastelands that was AOL RP rooms, so tumblr couldn’t be any worse.  It’s part of the benefits of being an old fuck.  Nothing can possibly be as bad as the ancient forms of RP we had to deal with.

To be entirely honest, I don’t know.  I had this fugue period where I spent most of the day and most of the night in a half-asleep state, telling myself stories.  I watched The Avengers a lot.  Somewhere, in all of that, Vivian coalesced as a character.  But I was so deep in my depression that I couldn’t tell you if it took a week or took a month for me to realize her.  I really had no sense of time.  It probably took weeks before my ex could talk me into putting Vivian and her story into conscious effort.  It certainly wasn’t until he encouraged me to try writing her that I discovered tumblr, and then created Vivian on her own blog.

It’s actually one of the things I love most about Vivian.  She was born in about as dark a time as possible (I was sleeping 20 out of 24 hours and had to be physically prompted into eating food) and yet she’s been one of the greatest things I’ve ever created.
