“ rory ! ” he only just got off his shift about a half hour ago only to be called back again due to the cauldron heist. st. mungos was swarmed with people, patients and guests alike. like many of the other mediwix, he’d only heard of the robbery once he and his colleagues got called on to the scene to help assist the healers. there was a level of concern aidan held during his job, but it was normal. it wasn’t until he saw his girlfriend that he began to worry. she mentioned something about going to the glitzy cauldron, but he didn’t think THIS was going to happen.
“ listen. i’m fine. ” his tone was grim. jaw set. fine was subjective. a well-intentioned episkey hadn’t been enough to heal the injury to his shoulder, blood staining what had once been a white sweater. in his experience, blood never REALLY came out ... even with magic. it did, but he always knew. “ it’s a surface wound. barely a scratch. “ the auror who’d dragged him over to the medical corner snorted, rolling his eyes. davos resisted the urge to glare, simply humming under his breath instead. with his siren blood, the dulcet tones of his humming would be enough to take the edge off both the auror and the healer examining him. given the hectic nature of the day, he figured he was doing them a solid !
“it is quiet here now, the valley is silent. only the birds and the stream have their noise, the twittering, bubbling sweet sounds of nature. apart from this – silence which nothing destroys.”
so much happened today. but many things had happened on other days, buried deeper in the past, hues darker than this day’s soul bared for all to see. thus, it would take much, much indeed, to leave the auror department aghast; and yet the trained individuals, decked out in leather, dragon hide, and other garments unique to them, charmed with protective magic that could shelter them from everything except the truth of their negligence, were stumped. the ministry allowed for them to wear their anti-uniform as to avoid the painting of a target on their back, but perhaps it would’ve been better to have done the opposite, in order to have prevented it being painted on the civilians they were supposed to protect. they stood, staring at a seemingly normal empty space. there was nothing, and no one there. but that was why there was everything wrong with it. the individuals they’d managed to arrest amidst the mayhem of the robbery of the glitzy cauldron, had disappeared in what appeared to be a magicked cloud of smoke... only leaving their conjured shackles, and the overall damage to the spot in golden pine, as proof they’d been there to begin with. one of the auror trainees ambled forward, picking up an abandoned mask. there was a piece of parchment attached inside, and it was signed off in loopy cursive by... “the masked miscreants?”
𝓕𝓞𝓞𝓣𝓝𝓞𝓣𝓔𝓢: The event is officially over. Thank you to everyone for participating! You may continue your threads to closing, or close them now. The dash will be picking up the first week of October, right after the weekend of the Robbery, which was the last weekend of September. Here’s some details everyone should be aware of moving forward, make sure you read them:
DAILY PROPHET: The evening prophet reported everything about the Glitzy Cauldron robbery. About how Auror Trainees were staked out all around the Glitzy Cauldron in different groups, one of which was even inside in the back room at the time of the robbery with charmed sea shells, listening into the store instead of the ocean for signs. This being because if it wasn’t obvious already, the annual sale this year was a trap. Despite the set up, the plan had never been for the trainees to fight to defend the public ( though it was still their duty to, regardless of their training having not been finished. ) They were supposed to simply practice their surveillance while the seasoned Aurors brought in the culprits, once they’d been alerted to suspicious activity while working other cases at headquarters. Apparating only takes a second, after all. But in the end, the preparation was for the wrong situation, the robbery escalated quickly in nature compared to the groups previous heists, and things went down a path no one predicted. Ultimately, they were unable to stop the group now known as the, “Masked Miscreants.” Although it’s known that giving a name sometimes makes criminals feel more empowered, they clearly feel empowered either way. The Auror Department now believes their motive is taking the goblins under their sway, so they can get all kinds of treasures. The cauldrons are just the beginning to them amassing wealth as bargaining tools. Their end goal, is a goblin rebellion and endless riches. Though the group is young in age, they’re extremely dangerous and have no qualms for hurting anyone who gets in their way. The Ministry has tips but no specifics on just who is in the group behind the CAULDRON HEISTS. Furthermore, attempts to remove the masks they were wearing at the scene were fruitless due to strange magic. No civilian deaths have been reported at this time, but there are many in critical condition at St. Mungos. All of the above is according to the official statement given. The Minister is in talks with Head Auror, Helen Xun, and is planning to give a speech, according to inside sources.
AUROR DEPARTMENT MUSES: For all characters who are involved with the Auror Department: you can continue writing threads related to the Masked Miscreants! You can also plot them with muses who aren’t, in the case they accidentally came across them and needed assistance. The end goal is for them to eventually be brought to justice. After finishing the thread, you can write a summary daily prophet style and submit it to be posted in the Cauldron Heists tag. Otherwise, at this point, there won’t be another high stakes event involving the entire roleplay with this plot drop series.
Side Note: It should be noted there are other types of muses that can be involved with the law, such as Hit Wix, who are the wizarding version of SWAT, and the Magical Law Enforcement Patrol, who are the wizarding version of the general police. While the Masked Miscreants fall under the Auror Department’s specialty / jurisdiction of dark magic, and therefore is their case to solve, if a character should choose either career, or if you write your character around an npc with this career, obviously they wouldn’t stand around and do nothing. ( Specifics can be found on the careers page. )
ST. MUNGOS/MEDIWIX: Most injuries can be healed quickly, though of course, there’s been cases in canon where it takes some time for an individual to recuperate. This is a great place to write threads if you’re looking for ideas for starters, like your character visiting someone or the other way around. If you write a student, they’ve been injured, and they reach the point they’ve recovered for the most part, maybe they could be transferred by mediwix to recover the rest of the time in the Hospital Wing at Hogwarts with Matron Madam Pomfrey! That’s another thread that could be plotted with the Mediwix muses in the roleplay. Remember that Healers are the wizarding version of Doctors, Matrons are the wizarding version of Nurses, and Mediwix are the wizarding version of Paramedics, ( Specifics can be found on the careers page. )
WIZTOBERFEST: Usually, Wiztoberfest starts right on the dot on October 1st, but the town of Hogsmeade is considering cancelling it. For the time being, it’s been postponed. How does your character feel about walking through the town with all of the decorations up, but no one being there, almost like it’s a sad ghost town?
BUDDY SYSTEM: The previous curfew hasn’t been put back in place, due to the fact the Masked Miscreants struck in broad daylight, so they clearly have no preference. However, the Ministry has put in place a buddy system. No one is allowed to go anywhere by themselves, and anyone caught breaking this rule will be fined.
her knuckles were white from gripping her wand so tightly. throughout all the chaos, she was lucky not to have lost it. alecto selwyn was not scared easily so even when the masked miscreants made their appearance, she held her own. in fact, she was annoyed. what was supposed to be a day for errands turned into a complete NIGHTMARE. she was currently sporting a rather nasty gash on her arm, courtesy of one of the masked miscreants. “ expelliarmus ! ” the spell was deflected. it was worth a shot. “ oppugno ! ” the glass shards she spotted on the floor darted towards her opponent. satisfied that at least one of them had gotten the wix, the former slytherin smirked to herself. it was short lived as she was shoved out of the way by some of the more terrified patrons in an attempt to get out of the shop. stumbling, she crashed into another person. “ merlin ! sorry, are you alright ? ”
dazed, costin was leaning up against the side of the building. the glitzy cauldron’s sign was askew, having been blasted apart at some point during the battle. he coughed, blood coming away from his mouth when he wiped his dirt-smeared hand across it. bollocks. fuck it to hell. while he took potions to give him the stamina and physical appearance of a man in his late 30′s, it was at times like these that he felt his true age. he’d never felt more ANCIENT than in that moment. he knew that the head of the auror department was likely to be cross with him; he was still recovering from a run in with a manticore. he wasn’t in peak physical condition — not right now. he coughed again, his dominant hand shaking as he attempted to heal a laceration on his leg. with the shaking, he wasn’t making much progress. spotting arin, the auror beckoned her over. he knew there was a lot more work to do on the scene before he could get himself checked out. he wouldn’t leave his aurors behind. “ oi, you there. “ he rolled his pant leg up, wincing at the deep gash in his thigh. okay, it was worse than he’d expected. “ i can’t do it myself. “ he managed the words out through grit teeth, frustration evident. he didn’t like feeling USELESS. “ should ah — terego, to clean it, and vulnera sanentur to heal it up a bit. “ he paused. “ actually, no. just the cleaning, if you don’t mind. “ the last time he’d let a trainee try to heal him up, it hadn’t gone well. better to try to slow the bleeding with a tourniquet and let the healers look at it after.
the fear she initially had turned to ANGER as a spell shot past her. for merlin’s sake, she was literally here because she wanted to take advantage of the sale for a quality cauldron. merlin forbid her from doing that. honestly. the masked miscreants were more than a nuisance, that much she knew. but as soon as they started asking for other valuables and belongings, irene stubbornly refused. one being, the bracelet her father had given her before his disappearance from her life.
“ no. ” she kept her voice level, but the red glow in her eyes could’ve given away the amount of anger that was in her. she noticed some of the more terrified shoppers avoid her. with her wand held tightly in one hand, irene was currently trying to catch her opponent off guard. “ stupefy ! ” the spell she shot rebounded off the shield and if it weren’t for her quick reflexes, it would’ve grazed her shoulder. looking around, she was really hoping to find someone that she knew. “ vera ! ” the ravenclaw called out as she shot a spell at the wix behind her friend.
