Sami seems stunned that he's finally won the Intercontinental title back, to the point that he continues to lay on top of his opponent, as if, if he lets go of him, it will somehow undo his victory. He clings to and nuzzles Gunther, half-apology, half-thank you.
“ … uniquely suited … “ 🛡️
One of the highlights of 2024: Sami Zayn winning the Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania 40.
I'm still so fuckin confused after re watching the WM40 behind the scenes doc [with other people who hadn't seen it yet] why did they have cody win the rumble if prior to the rumble and prior to any injuries they were 90% certain seth would fight punk and roman would fight the rock. If they had and were able to stick to both those championship matches what tf would cody have done at WM ?!?!
Triple H thought cody not winning hinders his momentum but him winning and not challenging for either championship belt when winning the rumble = championship match makes no sense !!! At that point either have punk beat him and challenge seth or you should have just had the rock enter the rumble and win. Please I really need someone who might understand this better than me to explain their original logic behind cody winning the rumble and not challenging roman or even seth.
Personally, I think Dwayne and Triple H were likely butting heads about it and Triple H just gave up but told Cody to point at Roman, so they could get the backlash when he said he was giving up his spot, to course correct. I don’t think triple H like listening to the rock and being told what to do
That makes total sense. I've always kind of thought it was the rocks doing trying to get his way about being the main event and push cody aside. Triple h was not sure what to do bc it's the rock. As you said he seemed to be giving up and just giving the rock what he wanted until the we want cody movement happened. Of course the rock took all the credit being like I was the savior of wrestlemania and cody.
So I just watched the WM40 what went down doc on YouTube and it was just as I expected. The rock pretty much taking all the credit for how things played out. "You're welcome. I felt bad, and I chose to step aside, and I came up with this idea." Sure, you did fans played little part in it it was all you.
The one thing that really confused me and honestly makes me go 😬 not sure this doc helped you look good is the fact they made it known prior to the rumble it was pretty much locked in that seth was going to fight punk and roman would fight rock so WHY were they having cody win the rumble if both championship matchs were already locked in?
Who tf would he have wrestled? It would have made more sense to have punk win then, and he picks seth as his champ of choice. Tho they would still have the question of who tf does cody wrestle? How do you leave your biggest babyface off the main cards?
Also triple h was like cody needs to win the rumble to keep up his momentum and shit and to keep fans into his story but they didn't seem to think cody winning the rumble and then NOT challenging roman didn't also ruin that or more so just look ???
