Ornate Wobblegong

The ornate wobbegong (Orectolobus ornatus) is a species of carpet shark that lives in Australia and possibly other countries in the Western Pacific Ocean. It is coloured golden brown, yellow-green and blueish-grey, and it grows to maximum 120 centimetres (3.9 ft). Described by Charles Walter De Vis in 1883, it is similar in appearance to other Australian wobbegongs and has previously been classified as the same species as the Gulf wobbegong. It is a nocturnal species, hunting at night, and it can bite humans when disturbed. The International Union for Conservation of Nature has listed it as a least-concern species.

I don't know if you have much of an answer, but you're the person I see playing so: do you think Pokemon Go is worth playing if you don't get out of the house a ton? Due to Reasons™ I can count my outings as per-week and they're never very long. (Although maybe I'd get out more if I had Pokemon to motivate me.) It's not clear to me how much game there *is* if I don't get out to urban areas much, so... thoughts?

In my opinion it matters less how often you get out of the house and more where you get out of the house to, specifically whether there are pokestops and/or gyms that you can get to easily.

It wants you to walk (to hatch eggs, earn candies, etc), it wants you to explore, it wants you to play every day, but it’s not necessary. Not having regular access to a pokestop/gym to restock supplies is a bigger problem. Also pokemon are more common around them.

(Honestly, if I didn’t commute almost every weekday to a downtown area full of gyms/pokestops/pokemon, on a bus, from which I can play and sometimes trick it into thinking I am walking, I probably wouldn’t play a tenth as much as I do.)

I'm so excited about Dom and the rest of the exoskeleton-friends. What good pets. Could you talk about ivory milipedes a little? I'm even less familiar with them than I am with Fancy Cockroach types! (Which I'm not very familiar with, but my preschoolteacher let us very carefully pet some Madigascar hissers when I was a wee thing and I have never stopped secretly loving them.)

ahhhh, I used to keep hissers, they are great. very sturdy and chill and easy to keep. I still bring them for outreach events.

I actually don’t know much about ivory millipedes– I love LOVE millipedes and I’ve kept a couple different types, with the most exciting being the giant african back before they got super expensive.  Speaking of chill, easy to keep, and fun to handle.

I picked the ivory because they’re supposed to be pretty hardy and active on the surface. (Also they are patterned white and black, so my terrarium has a bit of a color theme going on.)  They’re a native Florida species that live 5-10 years and get up to about 4 inches long.  My little one is about 2″ and I have not seen her much so far!  She definitely loves burrowing–when I do see her she is busily working away. 

Next time I see her I’ll snap a picture!

If it’s any consolation, I DO know how vector programs work (years of Illutrator later) and I’m still yelling WHAT IS GOING ON at Inkscape in between sulks. xD Good luck! You can do it!

I too would like to join the wailing into the void about wanting a new fandom! I've been LANGUISHING in the fandoms for the two main games I play, which are both... ehh? One's AO3-only because the tumblr peeps are more social-media than fandom. The other's 50% "what if we take a creative, unique concept and draw it as anime waifu with big tiddy porn" and 50% "squick bingo". It's not awful but after being spoiled by Homestuck fandom, ;_;

i just can’t with the fixer-upper animes anymore. uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuugh. JUST GIVE ME A FUN UNIVERSE AT LEAST.
