Aretha Franklin is a symbol of black equality. Not only is she one of the most successful singers to ever live, she's also been a civil rights advocator for more than five decades.
Franklin, who was born in 1942, sang at Obama’s Inauguration as well.
Angela Merkel was the 1st woman to become German Chancellor, in a world in which politics are still mainly dominated by men.
She not only improved the - not only European - cooperation but also introduced pantsuits to women in politics and other businesses.
Also she holds a PhD in Physics which she obtained before going into politics.
Born in 1954, Merkel is 62 years old and about to finish her 3rd term as chancellor.

Amelia Earhart was the 1st female aviator to do a solo flight across the atlantic ocean.
She set many other records as well as encouraging and supporting other aspiring female pilots.
Earhart was born in 1897 and disappeared in July 1937 at the age of 39 during an attempt to fly around the whole globe.
