For those who don't know...
I'm a Green Bay Packer fan. So, of course I was watching the game tonight and of course I was yelling at my screen and bemoaning the state of our defense. But I watched to the very end.
Not because I thought there could be some amazing come back, but because I love watching the end when the players meet in the middle of the field.
I love watching the players hug and smile and laugh. They put everything aside to play the game and compete and then pull it all back into place once the games over. They are friends, and in some case family. They care for one another and are genuinely happy to see each other.
I'd be thrilled if the networks just left the tape rolling on those meetings. The happy smiles, the backs patted, the hugs, the whispered words of support and comfort, and the shouted words of congratulations.
Now the NFL has its fair share of problems, and I'm not ignoring those, but for those few minutes we can point to the actions of the players as something we should all try to achieve.
Congratulate our competitors when they do well, support them when they stumble, and take any opportunity to share a moment together just because ultimately, we're friends.
