Now, Murray had been a slip up. She usually snuck out the numbers of men who overlooked her, the rich and the powerful that didn’t even look at her when they demanded a reservation— if anything, she had overlooked Murray that day as he slipped into the restaurant, just to add his name to the raffle, desperately hoping he would win that free meal.
If anything, despite the snafu, he’s honestly a breath of fresh air compared to the others. He was just a normal sort of guy, with more than his share of heartbreak. It was actually pretty nice to be able to sit and talk him through things rather than just seduce and lie.
“You’ve got time for me?” She always starts like that, making sure her marks were alone and could focus all their attention on her and her words. Or in Murray’s case, that he was alone and feeling comfortable enough to chat more.
“Have you been having a better week, Murray?” Her familiar voice floats over the receiver, soft and slightly breathy despite the clear tone of concern. She could use that pretty voice of her to lie and lead him on, but he seemed to need a softer touch, much like Yasmin herself did. “You just sit back and tell me all about it, huh? All the good, all the bad.”
