“… Y’know what, Jessica? I can do you a favor. Don’t know if it’ll work, but it’s worth a shot since you CLEARLY won’t invest in hitmen.”
Sliding his way right up to the redheaded woman who was a few inches taller than him in those rather expensive looking heels of hers, the old man reaches from the inside of his lab coat and without so much as asking, takes a hold of her hand and places a small alien looking ray-gun right in her hand.
“This isn’t much, really. I swindled it off some guy in dimension I-098, but it’ll kill your victims, at least for like, an hour, tops. Th-th-they’ll come back to life slowly once their organs start back up again, but it puts them in like a weird kinda death coma. Gets your point across, teaches lessons, aaaand it doesn’t technically kill anyone so you DON’T end up in jail because you wanna take the cliche PASSIVE.”
The way Rick stepped up to her so confidently and casually caused a hitch in breathing. His dark, tired eyes almost looked gentle even as his words expressed to the contrary. That cold, emotionless demeanor of his was something Jessica was starting to enjoy. Rick didn’t lust after her... didn’t claw at her heel for attention... it was oddly freeing. For the first time in a long time, Jessica actually relaxed.
Pools of green with rings of hazel follow his movements. Cradling the small device in her hands, she can’t stop a smile from blooming on her plump lips. Faint wrinkles, that had slowly started to grow as the years and stress accumulated, nipped at cheeks with the widening of her smile. A content sigh hummed in her chest in place of a laugh. “Rick,” Her low, breathy voice filled with the tenderness that his name was beginning to be associated with. “-thank you.” She punctuated her gratitude with a feathery kiss on his lips.
It was so light that her lipstick could only just paint his. His once bare lips had now held a red sheen that could have been mistaken for lip-gloss. Her hand that had rested on his jaw to align their lips patted his cheek. “I hope this hurts them... a lot.”
