Remus: Sirius what are you doing?
Sirius: Digging myself deeper in a hole. Forget the shovel I’m using a backhoe now!
I’m going to read The Shoebox Project, I’m ready to meet our fandom classic, yeah I am very excited!
Awesome!! I've been feeling a bit nostalgic and thinking of rereading it soon myself. Hope you enjoy it!

So I am super new to this fandom and I owe a lot of it to you!! So first and foremost.... thank you for totally changing the trajectory of my life, I stumbled upon ur acct and accidentally fell in love with this whole fandom. I am extremely headass about everything that revolves around R/S but there’s one little burning question that is singing the back of my mind; how do we justify the Sirius telling Snape abt Remus? Like do we just chalk it down to immaturity? xx
Hello,
I apologize if it's been awhile since you asked this.
So first, and I know this will sound bad, I partially blame Snape for this incident. In one of his memory flashbacks in HBP he's seen discussing with Lily that he saw Remus being led to the Whomping Willow by Madame Pomfrey and wanted to follow him simply to prove that the Marauders weren't so great. But he specifically targeted Remus, who was with the school nurse (indicating that the school/Dumbledore knew what was happening), to do this. To me that says he knew it was health related, realized the school staff knew, and only wanted revenge in terms of "exposing" Remus to the rest of the students and I personally fail to see how that was supposed to expose the whole group as awful.
Sirius very likely knew for a fact that Snape didn't actually know what was happening though Snape had made it clear to Lily that he suspected he was a werewolf (and I assume he wasn't shy about letting it slip to that group either). Sirius's justification was that he deserved whatever he got because he was essentially stalking them trying to get them in trouble. In my opinion that's the epitome of selfishness, because he didn't consider how this would impact Remus emotionally or even potentially legally considering the laws surrounding werewolves, and I find that indefensible personally.
I do think immaturity played the biggest role in this incident. They were teenagers, Sirius and Snape coming from abusive background and Snape further being bullied and ostracized at school as well, wasn't going to end well. I'm by no means excusing what Sirius did, and truthfully it makes me a little sad to imagine that Remus obviously did because I can't imagine that level of betrayal. It's really difficult to discuss in more depth though because not a lot surrounding this is canon and it's mostly just assumptions based on my feelings on the characters.
To be completely honest, I've not read anything I really like about this so I tend to overlook it to an extent. I'm not a fan of reading angst as I don't think Remus was a devastated mess dealing with this though I also don't believe he wasn't angry. I think Sirius, while yes immature, was a bit more malicious than simply impulsive as I've seen people tend to write him as too.
I think this was a major moment in their relationship that we don't know a lot about. They are complicated characters that I love and I wish we could see where & how they grew from this. I'm generally a stickler for canon (except in the obvious case of this whole blog lol) so these are just my personal feelings.
I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Hey, so I started reading the shoebox project, but stopped because it was all fluff and I got a little bored, is there any angst in it?
Hello,
I apologize if it's been awhile since you asked this but yes, there is some angst. I personally don't consider it a very angsty story overall though.
