Remus sat still on the sofa, his cup of tea growing cold on the wooden table in front of him.
He stared mindlessly at the mug, ignoring the laughter coming from what was his and Sirius' shared bedroom.
Sirius stepped out a moment later, lugging a suitcase behind him.
Peter walked closely behind, arms filled with bags of Sirius' belongings, but paused and eyed Remus.
"Um", Peter bit his lip, stepping closer to Remus, "We've finished packing up."
"Okay", Remus replied, eyes not moving from the mug.
Sirius turned, glaring at the mug, he let go of the suitcase and quickly walked over, picking the mug up and pouring the now cold tea onto the floor.
Remus glanced up to him, not saying a word.
"This was mine," Sirius announced.
Remus' eyebrows narrowed, and he looked between Sirius and Peter.
"So you're moving in together?"
"I needed a roommate", Peter shrugged, nervously.
Sirius smirked, "And I needed to be with someone who actually has my back."
"Well, good for you two."
Sirius rolled his eyes, turning back to his suitcase, the mug still in his grip.
"We'll see this weekend at James and Lily's?" Peter tried to make the room less tense.
Remus smiled politely at Peter as he spoke, "Oh, sorry, I'm not actually going."
"You have plans, then?" Sirius scoffed.
"No", Remus kept his eyes on Peter, "James suggested that I don't come, said he was worried it might be too soon for me."
"Oh", Peter awkwardly took a step backwards, towards the front door, "Then, I'll uh- See you at some point."
"Yeah, Bye, Pete."
Sirius watched Peter leave but didn't follow, instead turning back to Remus and the now half empty apartment.
"I didn't tell James not to invite you."
"I know."
Sirius huffed, "You don't have to break off with them just because we're not together anymore."
"I'm not."
"James wouldn't ask you not to come."
Remus frowned at Sirius.
"You know, you're being awfully civil," Remus turned his gaze back to the table.
Sirius barked a laugh, "Yeah, well, I didn't know you'd be like this", he gestured to Remus' unkempt hair, day old clothes, and messy apartment.
"I don't want your pity."
"You've always had it," Sirius snided.
Remus frowned, "Are we done here? You don't want to leave Peter waiting."
"He doesn't mind", Sirius nodded down to the puddle of tea, "You should clean that up."
