Day 29: Favorite piece from the show soundtrack?

The entire thing.

But seriously, Alan Rodi knows his music. And the song titles are amazing. Listen to the whole thing when you have some time.

Day 30: Favorite thing about the show? 

The characters. The way they are written. Their stories, their relationships, they make the show. and the voice actors are amazing. You can feel their pain and their hapiness, you care about each and every one of them. It is an amazing show. Really, if after reading everything I said about it you still haven’t listened you are missing out. In much.

Favorite of the 359 Reasons? 

Do you like emotional pain? Yes. Yes you do

Favorite thing about the fandom?

They are accepting, talented and as excited about this show as I am. What else you could posibly ask for?

since happy endings this has been rapidly becoming hilbert alone, particularly once it hits 3:31. the only true competition is a little mayday music. 

day 30: favorite thing about the show?

i’ve said this before, but no series has ever held up to my standards of character development before, and i consider wolf 359 to be the most character based/driven series i’ve ever come across. the attention and care that goes into crafting and developing these characters from both a writing and acting (and since we’re talking scores, musically as well) point of view is truly a gift to behold, and all i’ve ever wanted from a series. the fact that the characters are in line with so many character types i adore in addition to being so well crafted constantly astounds me. wolf 359 feels like a fictional series equivalent of a soulmate, the closest i’ve gotten to something truly feeling like it was Made For Me, because it just appeals to me directly so much.

gonna have to go with: Do you like emotional pain? Yes. Yes you do. alternatively, just Beautiful pain and suffering. 

honorable mentions go to An AI who thus far has shown no inclination of having a Pinocchio Complex. (i’m assuming this means she’s never shown any indications of wanting to be human) and I love w359 because I’m gay for Captain Isabel Lovelace. 

favorite thing about the fandom?

hmmmm. i guess...it’s the fact that everyone seems to be trying to be like...not an asshole? not that there’s never any issues in the fandom but there’s not a lot of like, Drama drama because most everybody seems like they want to be decent and are open to discussions. so i never really see anyone being an unrepentant douchebag. except for the people who apparently send gabriel anon hate. fuck those people.

Favorite Thing About the Show? 

Ugh where do I start okay. So the best things about this show are the way relationships are written, and the character development and relationship development. I think this post sums the last thing up perfectly. And it’s so great because the way the relationships are written somehow reveals so much and so little about their history (the cheeses???) And the characters are so fantastic and amazing. I don’t even know how to begin explaining exactly how much and why I love every single one of those characters.

And of course, Alan Rodi’s music, which is too good for this world. It’s so perfect.

 Favorite Thing About the Fandom?

It’s so small and unproblematic. And the people are so welcoming and awesome. And the art, and fan-fiction, and things like the fact that you could say “Quack” and everyone would know exactly what you were talking about

 And I love how the people involved in the podcast actually spend time interacting with the fandom, and they’re so amazing and friendly.

Wolftember 21-30

Day 21: Pitch an idea for an episode, set at any point in the series. A missing time episode! Set in early season 2! Maybe addressing the time skips Minkowski notes in Am I Alone Now. Hilbert has the concrete evidence of one of his biological samples having like 96 hours of growth over a one hour period, Minkowski latches on and Hera reluctantly admits that the human crew were effected by a biological thingamawhats that rendered them SERIOUSLY silly. Like The Naked Time fencing Sulu silly. There may have been singing.

Also it’s a musical episode you’re welcome.

In the end Hera covered it up and didn’t aid the memory loss addled crew due to her embarrassment that she couldn’t tell inebriated humans from the crew’s regular erratic behaviour.

Day 22: Favorite scene? Scene you’d most like to see illustrated? I really REALLY want a point and click adventure survival game of Mayday with randomised ship conditions and hallucinations you can talk to to restore your health/sanity does that count?

Day 23: Favorite character arc? Minkowskis!!! M8 I'm tired and trying to watch Star Trek and multitask but I love her so damn much and she's grown so much Day 24: Favorite friendship or pair of characters to see interact? Hilbert and Eiffel. Who knew one guy playing with himself could be so compelling. Hera and Minkowski are a close second they’ve come so far Day 25: Favorite moment of sound design? Okay since the obvious DAMN SPOOKY SPACE NOISES and the Mayday montage have already been discussed I’m just going to throw out how much I love Hera’s glitch. Someone tell her she’s perfect as is ASAP Day 26: One question you hope is answered before the end of the series? WHAT WERE HILBERTS OTHER SPACE MISSIONS IS RHEA REALLY DEAD WHAT HAPPENED TO LOVELACE OH GOD Day 27: One thing you would change about the series? EIFFEL IS GAY and trans. Hilbert is gay. Minkowski and Lovelace are lesbians. Mr K is Reneé’s closeted wife. Day 28: Dream cast for live-action version? Nah lets have a cartoon Day 29: Favorite piece from the show soundtrack? Some Dudes Arguing Over Something Dramatic Like a Cliff (Drowning in Space) Like. Damn.

That said I’d love an Imperial Radch crossover where Sphene bribes Hera into promising her system will side with the RoTS against mianaai with an ancillary body, and Breq casually misgenders half the crew, takes their seaweed coffee and leaves

Top five favourite Wolf 359 episodes in no particular order:

Pan Pan: angst and confirmation Hilbert was fucked up losing Doug? Check. Minlace huddling for warmth? Kinda sorta imma call that a check Cigarette Candy: Enough said. I’m glad my bff was around to tell me to listen to the end because HOLY SHIT HILBERT Deep Breaths/Gas Me Twice: I can have the two parter count for one right? I just love them so much and always come back for a relisten, Doug and Hera teaming up is my fave Happy Endings: HOLY CRAP LOVELACE HOLYCRAP SOMA CHAIR HOLY CRAP Lame-o Superhero Origin Story/Do No Harm: I get twofers and this one is FLAWLESS also Hera chewing out Loveless is the best and Doug is her BEST FRIEND omg I’m dying!! Why are the two parters always the best?

Day 2: Favorite female character?

Minkowski! I’m way far off having anything approaching acceptable art but she has always been my fave especially since Hera took awhile to get a solid characterisation beyond Quirky Murder Machine. Here have an emote Minkowski: @;(-0< She’s not happy ;(

Minkowskis arc is so great and she’s a giant lesbian and I love her. Plus she’s an up tight rules hound like me and I just want her to be happy.

Day 4: Favorite male character? (Bonus: add a doodle of your headcanon!) HILBERT!!! fuck the haters he’s probably the best character on the show and I will actively fight you

If he was my psych though I’d always go to therapy u go little guy live ur dreams Do mini eps count for this cause Kansas was super missable Day 6: Favorite season? Season two definitely, it’s got the highest concentration of dynamics I love and fave episodes but it’s a close tie with season one Day 7: Least favorite male character? It was a toss up between Kepler and Jakobi but Jakobis greatest sin is that he’s boring, Kepler is downright nasty, everything people hate about Americans and I hate him. I hope his recent toolitude towards Doug makes him realise this guy is not his friend. Oh and let’s toss in Mr. K who’s less of a character and more of an unnecesarily heterosexual duck umbrella Day 8: Favorite ship? The USS Horrible Unending Nightmare Anyway let's be real it's Heiffel I enjoy some Minlace, Mera and Eiffera but at the end of the day Heiffel is otp I don’t care if they’re married with kids or a plant monster vore disaster they’re the most compelling duo and should definitely bang. Day 9: Least favorite female character? Maxwell, I just don’t really care about the spunky super genius girl archetype I’m sorry Day 10: Favorite piece of fan art? Beefy Hilbert!! Beefbert is real and valid and I love his manbun

Day 30

Favorite thing about the show: The people. In both the sense of the characters, who are bright and alive and amazing and whose every action I would still hang on even if they were, I don’t know, professional bridge players instead of a space station crew, and in the sense of the people who bring them to life every episode and would doubtless make professional bridge the most fascinating thing ever.

Favorite of the 359 Reasons: The fact that the list exists. “The fans came up with 359 reasons you should listen to this show” gets to be a reason in and of itself.

Favorite thing about the fandom: The amazing variety of creativity and conversation that coexists happily here. Cute art, screaming, improbable shipfic, horribly sad headcanons, cheerful welcomes to the new people, more somber art, utterly ridiculous headcanons, minute dissection of that one line that could be the key to everything, entirely probable ‘and then things got worse’ fic, fanmixes, jokes about ducks... it’s all here and there’s room for everything and I love every bit of it.
