So, a thought to share. I asked my mum (who’s almost 50) if she’s ever been catcalled or wolf whistled or anything like that, she said she had, obviously. I then told her about a situation the night before with me and a friend of mine, walking to a train station and a group of lads walking towards us shouted the word “tits” as we got close. So my friend, (I was on the phone at the time) turned around and told them to “f - off” (using the full f word). My mum told me I should have just smiled and said thank you, to save harrassment as they could have chased and hurt me. Thank you. I should have said thank you for getting the word tits shouted at me. I told her I’m not going to thank someone for catcalling, and she just said that they could hurt me. I explained I was on a well lit main road with lots of cars at the time, so I would have got help if that happened, but I’m not going to THANK someone for unconsentsually shouting TITS at my face. She wondered why I got so defensive and a bit moody after. Thoughts, Tumblr?
