"You always could see past my smile." Jack chuckled, his voice thick with emotion. He cleared his throat, blinking the tears from his eyes. "But no. Everything is not alright."

Jack looked at the other warily. His gun was drawn, finger hovering over the trigger. "Identify yourself." He growled softly. He could smell them. He knew what they were. And he knew that he always had to be careful. Especially now. "I know you're there. I said, identify yourself. NOW!"

Puppy-Sitting || OPEN
“Don’t you think you’re overreacting just a little bit?” Jack asked, rolling his eyes. He stood with his arms crossed, as he often did, leaning most of his weight on one foot as he looked at the other with a patronizing gaze.
The immortal wolf swaggered over to the table and leaned against it. “It’ll only be for a few days. You can handle my kid for a few days, can’tcha?” He smirked.

Jack woke with a soft groan. He stretched in all directions with a breathy yawn, squeezing his eyes shut. Then he opened one eye, peeking over at the woman in his bed, fast asleep. He rolled to his side. One finger gathered a few strands of her hair and spun them around his digits. He rubbed the soft hair together, smiling as he watched her sleep.
Jack slid out of the bed. He peeled off his boxers, tossing them into the laundry, and walking down the hall.
Halfway down the hall and out of the view of the bedroom, he shifted from human to wolf, brushed through the doggie door, and jogged off down the road.

It was cold. A bit windy. The cool air brushed through Jack’s fur. But he didn’t mind. The brisk air in his lungs felt good. And his fur kept him warm.
He trotted down the street, enjoying the walk. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw a truck roll up next to him. Two guys came out, and approached him slowly. “Come ‘ere, boy. Come 'ere.” One of the men said, holding out a dog treat.
Jack rolled his eyes. He could obviously see the nets they held. Jack spun and sprinted away. Both men dove to get him, but fell. The men chased Jack for several blocks. He turned into an alleyway. He was pretty sure it led to a cemetery, which he could jump the fence, but he realized, too late, it was the next block over he was thinking about.
Jack nearly rammed into a brick wall. And the next second, a rope went over his head. 'Damn.’ he growled. Twenty minutes later, he was sitting in the cell of a dog pound.

Extended Stay || closed with Skallagrim
"This place is only for people like us. Keeps us safe. I wouldn't say we're a pack, per se, but we're the closest thing to family we've got. You can stay here as long as you need to." Jack tossed Skallagrim a blanket.
"Oh! And before I forget." He smirked at the other wolf. "Be careful of the females. They are quite feisty. And stay away from my kids. Or you may not live through the night."
