Throughout history there have been many great examples of women who made significant technological achievements, made all the more impressive by the hurdles they may have had to overcome to do so. Here are some examples of women in tech who continue to inspire us today.

What should success mean?
First of all, I’d like to share how lucky I feel to be surrounded by not only strong, inspiring and resilient women, but also men who support them and all of their endeavors. Because of these people, I can share that I’ve been able to accomplish one of my biggest goals. Unfortunately, not many women can say the same and I’m not referring to the accomplishing part. Sometimes we’re too afraid to share our goals because of criticism and I can understand why. There’s a huge disconnect about what success should mean and insane belief that the definition should be universal. I strongly disagree. I believe success is something for us to identify on our own and should allow us to feel at peace with ourselves. It shouldn’t be about living up to other people’s expectations or making a ton of money. It should be about what your soul needs the most at the time — whether that’s challenging yourself to step it up or having the courage to take a break. Lastly, we shouldn’t judge other women when their needs are different from ours. Us women have enough on our plate already. Let’s lend each other a hand and work towards breaking walls not building them.
