Lover's Lake - Jamie Campbell Bower (One-Shot)
Summary: After an unexpected turn of events during one night with her best friend. Y/n must now figure out why Jamie has pulled away. Good thing he is such a hopeless romantic!
Pairing: Jamie Campbell Bower x Fem!Reader
Auth.Note: After the amount of love given to 'Take Me Back To The Night We Met', a second part to it has been requested and I have delivered! Please enjoy!
It's been a week since the pool incident and no one is any the wiser about what happened. Mostly, because Jamie never followed up with 'we will talk later'. Instead, he allowed his friends to distract him and by the time Y/n had returned to the party, Jamie acted like nothing had happened and would brush off any comments made about them coming in dripping with pool water. Y/n wanted to think it was purely to keep face to the party; to give Jamie time to gather his thoughts. She expected him to pull her aside the next morning but he hadn't. Instead, she's woken up to a groggy and grumpy Jamie, and just like the saying goes 'Don't poke a sleeping bear' so she just left him alone. Made him breakfast, some coffee, and some painkillers for his headache before taking her leave from his house for her own apartment. She'd thought after that night their relationship dynamic would have changed or a piece shifted within their friendship but nothing ever did. Jamie acted as if it never happened. So thus, Y/n pretended like it never happened and instead chalked it up to Jamie being too drunk to remember and moved on from there. But even so, she could not help the wistful looks and the longing glances that she'd thought were inconspicuous. But he'd noticed. Jamie had noticed but he pretended not to. He remembered that night he simply didn't know how to address it; scared even to understand what would change if they crossed that street. He didn't know his play pretend was hurting her though.
So as the days rolled by into the second week of not-so blissful oblivion Y/n found herself staring in frustration at her work desk at the unfinished project in front of her. Her mind simply wasn't in on it so she threw her pencil down; watching as it clattered on the surface of her desk and bounced to drop to the ground making her grumble. She half considered leaving it there but decided against it; shy hated things being out of place. So she rolled her chair away from her work desk slightly and bent down to grab it from the floor. The carpet muffled the steps that approached so she was surprised when a pair of sandaled feet partly covered in long pants came into view. Startled Y/n jerked up not realizing her head was too close to the corner of her desk table's edge until a hand came from above her to cover the table's sharp point seconds before her head would have smashed into it and instead the back of her head connected with a warm palm.
She gasped straightening up; following the hand to a strong forearm that was littered with tattoos over a lean chest covered in a white T-shirt and up to a smiling mouth before her gaze finally met an amused Jamie's eyes. He was holding a carrier with two cups of coffee presumingly and a rolled-up paper bag with something that smelled good inside. He smiled down at her as he let go of the table and secretly enjoyed the blush that crept up her neck as the realization dawned in her eyes that he'd just pulled one of those little moves that girls secretly loved by protecting them from a table's corner.
"Morning James. What a pleasant surprise." Y/n leaned back in her chair and looked up at him trying to act casual just like they had been the past few weeks.
"I brought a peace offering." Jamie held up what he was carrying and motioned with his free hand silently asking to sit.
At her small nod and a polite smile, he grabbed an empty rolly chair from the next desk over and sat down; scooting himself beside her desk and handing her the paper bag before grabbing the cups from the cup carrier to set one down in front of her. She squinted at the gifts with playful suspicion before she was grabbing at the paper bag and opened it. The delicious scent of warm bagel, eggs, and bacon wafted into her nose as she peered inside and grinned when she saw her favorite breakfast bagel from her favorite little shop down the road from her work. She couldn't help the small little smile at the gesture, it had been a while since Jamie had time to stop by and see her at work let alone bring her something to eat knowing that she didn't often eat when she was working. So it was a nice change. After taking a big bite from her sandwich she looked up at Jamie who was idly sipping at his cup of coffee and watching her and she asked him:
"So what's the peace offering for?"
His blue eyes were unnerving as he stared at her a long moment before replying with a shrug " I feel as if I owe you an apology. About what happened."
She stopped mid-chew; the gears in her head slowly turning. He was either apologizing for what happened at the pool as if he regretted kissing her IF he even remembered or he was apologizing for ignoring her for the most part afterward. She wasn't quite sure which one it was and a part of her felt hurt to think he regretted what happened. After swallowing her bite of bagel she set it down and looked at him with a neutral expression on her face.
"Sorry for what exactly Jamie? Nothing happened." she was testing him. She had to be. Jamie knew she wasn't drunk when it happened; when he had kissed her because she drank less than him and he remembered.
"You don't remember?" his voice was soft as he studied her face and she tilted her head feeling a bit salty the longer she watched him and overthought that night; replaying the details in her head.
"Do you?" she quipped back staring unblinkingly. "Because if I remember correctly -and I do- then you are sort of 2 weeks late to the party for apologizing Jamie. You fucking ignored me firstly and secondly what happened to 'talking about it later', huh?" her eyes reflected the hurt and slight anger that she was feeling.
Jamie swallowed the guilt and nodded; she gave him brownie points for not looking away. "I know, Y/n I'm sorry, love. I shouldn't have just ignored what happened and not talked about it. I just thought perhaps you-"
"Are we friends?" her head tilted as she crossed her arms.
"What? Y/n, of course, we are. We're best friends-"
"Then why did you think it was a good idea to balk like that? Friends don't fucking lie and they sure as hell don't pretend kissing each other in a goddamned pool didn't happen!" her voice raised slightly; thank god her coworkers were on lunch right now.
Jamie's tall frame climbed off the chair he was sitting on and knelt on the carpet in front of her. His large hands were warm as they landed on her jean-clad thighs. His eyes were so earnest as they peered up into her e/c ones that were looking at him with the reflection of hurt in them.
"I know, I made a mistake, I'm so sorry darling. I was just scared. I was scared of what it would mean for our friendship. I don't want to fucking lose you after all this time."
Her gaze softened slightly. Jamie had been her friend for over a decade now. They didn't often get into fights but she could tell his sincerity. She didn't want to be mad at him so instead, she reached up to grasp his face in her hands. The warmth of his skin beneath her palms was comforting. Studying his face a moment longer she finally parted her lips to speak. Her words were soft but firm as she said
"I am hurt that you did not believe me capable of understanding your feelings, Jamie. But I understand that you are a good man and one of my closest friends. Because of that, I forgive you. But only on one condition, okay?"
"Anything, darling. Name it."
A slow smile crosses her lips and she tilts her head. "Take me out tonight and we can talk - like proper adults - about what happened." she leaned closer to playfully nudge her nose against his; her efforts rewarded by a slow but bright smile that split his face.
"Absolutely." the musician actor grinned up at her before squeezing her thighs which he still held beneath his grip. "Wear something pretty but casual yeah? I know just the place to take you tonight."
~
He took her away from civilization. Up into the mountains at dusk in his off-road car. A bunch of stuff clanking in the trunk as they drove up the bumpy road. She'd dressed pretty but casual as he had requested in a loose flowing dress that tangled around her ankles in the color of purest white. It hugged around her waist and flowed straight down from her hips in different layers of torn fabric and the sleeves hugged her biceps; allowing the exposed skin of her shoulders and column of her neck to be bare of any obstacles as the sleeves themselves were of the same torn layered fabric. Her hair was up and away from her face stuck with cute little pins that glittered in the fading sun and as he drove them up the mountain he couldn't help but think she looked like some fairy the way she was dressed and the way the fading light cascaded along her skin making it glow.
He'd driven for about an hour up the mountains and then down the other side until he parked in a shaded dirt patch off the path and got out to grab the items from the trunk. Y/n watched him bring out a large wicker basket and a bag flung over his shoulder as he held his hand out for her. She smiled conspiratorially as she grabbed his offered hand and allowed him to lead her through the woods. The scent of earthy tones and life surrounded them as well as the sounds of the nocturnal animals coming out. She didn't know how long she walked hand in hand with the blonde man but just as she thought they'd finally gotten lost in the depths of the woods Jamie pushed aside some clustered branches of a low-hanging tree to reveal a lake spread out ahead of them.
By this point, the moon was in the sky and the last of the sun's rays were sinking into nothingness. Y/n stood in awe as she watched the musician actor let go of her hand in favor of unpacking the items. A large blanket was set out on some grass at the edge of the lake and a few fake tea candles were lit and placed on the edges of the blanket. From there he dug out a homemade picnic set filled with all kinds of delicious food stuffed in containers and a bottle of sparkling cider. She was touched because that looked like the most romantic thing that someone could do for her. Once the placement was done Jamie turned to her with a sheepish smile.
"I was going to come out here earlier to set it up but um..I didn't have the time since cooking took a bit longer than I thought it would take."
The young woman's smile was tender as she walked over to him and flung her arms around his neck to hug him. "This is amazing Jamie. It's very romantic in such a sort time span. Thank you for putting the effort into this." she kissed his cheek feeling the heat of a blush warming her lips.
He helped her sit and began getting the items onto plates as he began talking. "I wanted it to be special you know…memorable. So we both can say that we won't forget it." he chuckled handing her a glass, yes a full on glass, of sparkling cider.
"Well, you definitely did the job right, Mr. Bower. This place is lovely." she looked towards the lake sitting the first flashes of fireflies start to dance around the foliage around them and even some reflecting off the lake's surface. "Oh look fireflies, Jamie! We came just in time!" she beamed.
The man smiled over the rim of his glass as he watched the childlike aw on her face and duly noted to do this again sometime. Instead. he leaned back on a palm and looked across the water thoughtfully. Enjoying the same view as her while at the same time trying to figure out a way to start their topic of conversation. He was grateful she'd forgiven him because it'd have killed him to lose her as a friend but now it was the gnawing feeling in his chest about where they went from here.
"You know, I've liked you for awhile. Had you truly never noticed until that night at the party when I kissed you?" there was quiet curiosity about his question as he tipped his head to see that she was already watching him.
The shy look was back on her face as her gaze darted from him and instead grabbed a strawberry to nibble on. "I thought you were being nice at first…I mean you were a rockstar beginning your brand new career I figured it wouldn't have lasted long until another came your way with a pretty face. I liked it when you didn't push me away even when your career took off…and sure, I mean I thought about it before. A prospect that perhaps your flirty and goofy nature wasn't just…your personality but I never truly thought you were serious even when my heart wanted to tell me it was true. I was just a girl who had a crush on you; I didn't think you would like a nobody like me."
Her confession made the man turn to look at her incredulously. "Are you serious?! Darling, I've loved you since the moment I saw you at the fair! Getting the chance to know you and realize how genuine you were was a breath of fresh air in comparison to other girls who throw themselves at me. That feeling only grew the more I got to know you over the years; god, I honestly don't know what I would do if you decide to up and leave my arse." his statement made her laugh and it was so infectious that he couldn't help but chuckle along with her at his dramatics despite knowing full well he meant every word.
"And for the record, you are not a nobody Y/n." his voice softened as he smiled over at her. "You're my best friend, you mean the world to me and you've very very special." he reached out as he spoke to brush his knuckles along her cheek that flushed beneath his touch.
"Well, consider me lucky then." Y/n leaned the weight of her head against his touch and smiled over at him. "Especially if you decide you want to throw little surprises like this out at me. I like these kinds of surprises." she giggled making Jamie grin at her with a twinkle in his eye.
"Only way that's possible if you become mine, love." he shrugged nonchalantly and the girl raised a brow playfully.
"And what exactly would…being your entail, hmm?" she teased setting her glass down.
Catching on to her jovial mood the man shifted to sit up and set his own glass down before turning to her. "Well, that means a little surprise like this." he waved a hand about.
"And…homemade meals…late night movies…special dinner dates…perhaps some traveling if you are up for it." there was a playful glint of mischief in his eyes as he leaned closer to her until they were nearly a breath away. "And of course, cuddles. You know I'm such a cuddle bug." he grinned.
Y/n's laugh was a little breathy as she shook her head; her nose rubbing against his in an Eskimo kiss in the process. "Oh is that all? The man sounds almost too good to be true. Whatever shall I do?"
"Oh no, not at all the end of it. There is so much on my list, love." he leaned closer until his lips grazed the apple of her cheek. "They'd be kisses." his lips pressed lightly to her cheek. "Lots of kisses, just like this." his lips ghosted lightly across her flesh as he peppered slow and gentle pecks along her cheek, forehead, nose, and jaw for a few moments before pulling away to see her face had gone lax; eyes fluttering slightly at every touch.
"Oh?" she finally breathed opening her eyes a tad to look at him. "W-what if I don't want…want sweet kisses?" her lips jutted out in a pout that he simply couldn't resist as a wicked grin slowly took over his face.
"No gentle kisses?" he mocked as his gaze flicked up from her lips to her eyes. "You know what? I can be a gentleman sometime…but I do believe I remember you saying you enjoyed my…rockstar side more." one brow cocked before he surged forward.
One hand at the base of her neck held her in place in a firm grasp as his mouth pressed against hers firmly and insistent. Taking control instead of asking or going along with it. Velveteen's tongue licked at her mouth for entry which she gave on a moan as her hands grasped at his shoulders and hair. Her body was tipped backward until the pair were lying on the sofa blanket beneath them. They refused to break until their lungs screamed and they tore away on harshly heaving breaths. Lips red and kiss swollen, face flushes, and eyes locked together. They breathed each other's air up close as they stared deeply at one another. It was Y/n who finally broke to speak into the darkness around them with a breathy voice.
"Will you be mine?" Jamie laughed a bit and nuzzled her nose with his
"I believe that is my line, darling girl." he chided playfully
Y/n huffed and shoved at his shoulder with a pout. "Then ask me damn it Jamie!" she chastised with desperation as she looked up at him. "Please?"
Pulling away slightly the man peered down at her; reaching out to brush strands of her hair that came undone from her hair pins back from her face. "Y/n L/n, will you do me the honer of officially being mine?" he raised a brow down at her
"Took you long another lover boy!" her hands grasped the back of his neck to pull him down to her level and smash their lips together.
Despite her words, the pair couldn't help but smile into the kiss as they proceeded to kiss the daylights out of each other. See, the moral of the story here folks is nothing is ever as it seems. Follow your true feelings and don't be afraid to act on them, because you never know what you could miss out on if you don't!

Take Me Back To The Night We Met -Jamie Campbell Bower (One-Shot)
Summary: Y/n had been a part of Jamie's life for over a decade. She had been with him through thick and thin and was considered one of his closest friends. But suddenly, she wasn't the young girl he once remembered, and instead, he realizes that perhaps what he had been feeling for her wasn't so platonic anymore.
Prompt: "Take Me Back To The Night We Met"
Requested: By Anon
He could still remember the night he met her. He was just a teenager back then. Out with his bandmates at the local fair. It was nighttime and the air was filled with the scent of funnal cakes, cotton candy, and burgers. Children ran and bumped into other people as their parents trailed behind; groups of people milling around stations filled with carnival games that were expensive and rigged to play and among it all there she stood at the cotton candy stand. She was so pretty as she stood beneath all the lights as they illuminated her face. The smile and laughter that spilled from her erupted the butterflies in his stomach as he watched her from afar as she walked away from the snack stand with her two friends she had been speaking with. Jamie thought she was cute and so did his bandmates but he didn't have the courage to go up to her; he wasn't used making the effort to go talk to a stranger when all he knew were girls throwing themselves at him once they realized who he was. But she was different. He swore his heart nearly stopped when the girl turned towards him and his group and waved excitedly. He'd thought she was looking at him so he'd waved back almost shyly but that feeling dimmed when he realized that she was not in fact looking at him but another friend who rushed past him and his friends to hug her. A wistful expression crossed his face as he watched them talking animately as they rushed away pointing at something in the distance.
Jamie never believed in love at first sight until he'd seen her and for the rest of that night he'd kicked himself for letting her go. That was until he went to ride a fair ride. His group had too many people so he was the odd man left out of pairs. As if the gods were listening to him he was placed in the only opening seat up front right next to the very pretty girl he'd been thinking about all night long. She was not a fan of rollercoasters; that much was a given as the ride began to start and a panicked squeak left her and her knuckles were white as marble around the handles of the harness. Jamie hadn't known what he had been thinking back then as he reached out his hand to her with a smile. His heart thumping a mile a minute as those pretty eyes had finally focused on him seconds before they plummeted over the edge of the rollercoaster. Her hand snatched onto his as a scream left her throat as they dropped and all he remembered was feeling the warmth and strength of her grip on his hand as they zoomed across the tracks.
He hated that rollercoaster but it had brought him Y/n into his life and well, perhaps he didn't hate the memory after all even when he'd gotten off that ride still clutching her hand that shook like a leaf within his grasp. That night was a good decade ago and they were still going strong. They never dated but he had watched his friend developed from a teen into something more beautiful and artistic than he could have ever dreamed. At first, he didn't look at her the way that one would look at a pretty girl; sure he as enormed by her. Devoted his attention to her whenever he could but when his music career and then his acting career began to take more and more of his life away his focused had shifted. But now, years later after all this time she was still a comforting addition in his life.
Perhaps it was the beer in his system making his brain shift but his thoughts recalled the memory of their first meeting. As he lounged against the overstuffed leather sofa in his studio basement he watched Y/n across the room as she stood leaning against the granite island with a solo cup in her hand as she spoke with one of his friends who worked with him. Her cheeks flushed with her enjoyment as she laughed at whatever his friend said and Jamie couldn't help but feel that pang of jealousy hit him square in the chest. He shouldn't feel that type of way. He was generally a laid back person but the longer he stared across the room at her the harder it got to keep his emotions in check. He wanted to storm over there and yank Y/n from his friend's presence and hoard her away in his bedroom. No no bad Jamie, that was just the alcohol talking. He blinked his blue eyes when he saw Y/n's figure walking over from across the room and the weight of the sofa bounced him as the girl plopped herself down unceremoniously into the overstuffed leather. Her eyes were twinkling with delight and amusement as they looked over at him and he couldn't help but think just how that sparkle made her seem to glow.
"What's the look for James?" she asked with a conspiritical look on her face as she leaned closer to nudge his shoulder with her own. "You look like you have been sucking on a lemon." her laughter was adorable as she cocked her head to study his face a bit.
"I'm all good darling, promise. Just relaxing." he shrugged and his answer made her squint at him and the smile to dim but not disappear.
"That's bullshit and we both know it." she lightly tapped his thigh; her face growing a little more serious as her brows furrowed. "Are you okay? Not feeling sick are you? Should I go find you a bucket before you vomit everywhere?" she asked as she reached over to place the back of her hand against his forehead.
That minimal touch sent a heat rushing through his veins and he as quick to grab her hand and pull it away but he did not let go of her. Instead, his long nimble fingers turned her palm facing him and he began tracing random patterns on the soft skin of her hand. Her gaze as concerned as she was not used to seeing him look so solomn and she wondered if the get together had finally burned out his social meter or something. She figured that must be it or just jetleg since he'd just come back from filming a day prior.
"Really Jamie you're starting to worry me, what's the matter?" Y/n questioned turning her body to face him.
Jamie noted how her body language screamed uncertainty and the way her gaze seemed keen to study his features. Her drink now forgotten on the coffee table in front of them in favor of her attention fully being placed on him. Sure, she was not the longest friend Jamie had ever had but their relationship was something special to him. He felt guilty that he'd neglected her for so long due to his filming but she acted as if his absence never happened. He loved that about her. Just how she could fall right back into the same pattern of familiarity while he was over here having a mental break down because he felt inadequate for her friendship. She seemed to know something was not right instinctually because she rose from the sofa and grabbed his hands to pull him from the leather.
"Come on, let's get some air, yeah?" she offered a familiar smile as she led a compliant Jamie by the hand past the few friends in his basement and out the back door towards his pool.
Kicking her shoes off she sat down on the edge and dipped her feet into the cold water. Looking up at him expectingly to do the same and the rockstar actor had no strength to fight her silent expectation so he took kicked off his shoes in favor of sitting on the edge of the pool with his friend.
"Alright, now that we aren't in that stuffy studio of yours," she bumped shoulders with him before reaching over to grab his beer bottle to steel a sip; oblivious to the way Jamie's blue eyes glued themselves to her mouth as her lips pressed around the rim of the brown glass. "What's gotten your pretty head all fogged up, hmm?" she finished holding out the bottle back to him while peering next to her at him with expecting eyes.
He did not speak for a minute and instead just looked down at their feet as they moved languidly in the water. The lights within the pool making the water an unearthly glow as it rippled and shifted at each disturbance of their limbs stirring the water with each gentle kick.
"Do you remember the night we met?" he suddenly asked
She took a moment to think before her soft laugh met his ears; a soft melody mingling with the sound of chirping crickets in the bushes around his home. She hummed leaning back against her palms and looked up at the blackened sky and the stars that dotted it.and a few stray clouds blocking out the view of the moon briefly.
"I do actually, you stole me away from my friends after I nearly broke your fingers on that damned ride!" she laughed again at the memory and cocked her head to the side to look at him from the corner of her eyes. "It was a summer night and the fair had been open late that night. I was there with Melody, Cara, and Alice but yet I ended up leaving with one more hitch hiker I wasn't expecting in my pocket." she teased nudging his shoulder
A soft smile tugged at his features. "Took me all night to have the courage to give you my number." his lips curled into something akin to fondness as his blue eyes turned to meet hers. "Worked out in the end aye?"
Y/n hummed in agreement and tipped her head back allowing her hair to fall behind her as she stared at the sky above. "It did work out in the end. Best decision I could ever make." she sighed quietly "Why the trip down memory lane Jamie?"
"Suppose I'm just feeling a bit nostalgic." Jamie shrugged but when he glanced at her Y/n's face twisted in a way that clearly stated she didn't believe him.
She sat up and leaned closer to him. "If you don't tell me what's on your mind pretty boy I'm going to shove your arse into this pool." she threatened half seriously and half playful as her gaze shifted to the rippling water as if emphasising her threat.
He snorted and took a sip of his beer. "You wouldn't." he replied and she fell silent a moment.
After a beat of neither of them saying anything Jamie thought perhaps the conversation had been dropped especially as Y/n rose to her feet and disappeared from view for a moment. Damn, had he been a jerk and brushed her off? Was she going back inside to flirt and chat up his friends again? Nope, he was so fucking wrong. Instead, his beer was plucked from his fingers and a hand landed on his back seconds before he was shoved headfirst into the water. When he resurfaced he shoved wet blonde hair from his face to see Y/n standing there with a hip cocked and a smirk placed on her face as she idly sipped at his stolen beverage. A twinkle of mischief in those bright eyes of hers. He couldn't find it in his heart to be pissed off that she'd just ruined his hundreds of dollar outfit with pool water; especially when he caught those eyes dragging down his form in appreciation before meeting his gaze as if nothing had happened. Had he caught her staring? He could see that question rolling in her mind as she shifted a bit uncomfortable at his unwavering eyecontact.
"That was uncalled for madam!" he finally spoke with a huff as he began walking across the pool towards her. He held out his hand with a frown. "I demand you help me out now."
Y/n knew that she shouldn't. No one could be that stupid to not expect revenge right? A part of her was thrilled at the idea so she set his beer down and bent to extend a hand to grasp his wrist. As expected, instead of allowing her help to pull him from the grips of the pool his strength yanked her strength into it's depths with a shriek of surprise. After she'd resurfaced she frantically brushed away her hair that tangled up in her mouth and face only to have her breath catch in her throat as she realized just how close Jamie was to her. So close she could count the waterdroplets on his thick lashes. His large palms gripped her waist beneath the water and pulled her up against him; her legs instinctively wrapping around his hips to keep herself afloat.
"Sorry, I forgot you weren't the strongest swimmer." his voice was soft due to the close proximity and Y/n couldn't find it in her heart to be snippy with him because firstly, it was the truth and secondly the way he was looking at her and the heat of his body against her cold skin was something else.
Her arms wrapped around his neck to keep her close to him and she could do nothing but stare up at him; fingers playing with the strands of wet blond hair plastered to his neck. She wanted to say something but she didn't know what but instead allowed herself to get lost in the depths of blue staring so intently at her. She'd never imagined Jamie would ever make a move on her after their initial meeting. At first, it was cute the way he seemed so flustered around her but as their friendship progressed she'd started to notice he didn't seem to act the same around her anymore; she'd chalked it up to him losing his initial interest in her so she hadn't said anything. Often wondering if she'd actually acted on his feelings a decade ago if they would be in the same position they were now.
"Y/n listen I-" Jamie began to speak but his voice was drowned out by the press of her soft lips against his.
She didn't care if she didn't allow herself to make a move on him back then; she'd seen a glimpse of something so familiar in those blue eyes that she once had seen when they were young and god did she pray that her move wasn't the wrong one. She felt the sting of hurt when his mouth stayed frozen in that half opened state of speech instead of kissing her back and she pulled away slowly to look up at him.
"I-I'm sorry Jamie I thought…" she let go of him and cleared her throat. "I shouldn't have done that I'm so sorry, just please forget it; blame it on the alcohol or something just-" his hand grasped her wrist before she could pull away too far and he gently dragged her through the water without much effort back into his chest.
His large hands found possession into her hair as he cradled her head in them and pressed his lips to hers in a firmer much more desperate clash of lips and tongue. His mouth devouring hers as if she was his last meal on earth. The desperation behind it made the woman's hands clutch at his shoulders as she struggled to meet his passion with her own.She didn't realize they were moving until her back hit painfully against the edge of the pool and a hiss of a breath left her making Jamie pull away from her mouth to look at her. It was only than as he stared at her did he realize that she was cold. Her skin erupting in gooseflesh and her clothes sticking to her body thanks to the pool they were currently in. Swallowing the need to press against her and take her mouth again the blonde withdrew a step away.
"Fuck." he licked his swollen lips and reached out a hand to guide her away from the wall and towards the pool stairs. "Let's get inside and get you into a hot shower before you catch a cold." he told her.
She didn't protest. Despite the coldness of the water making her skin prickle her insides were boiling with heat. Looking at Jamie she realized he felt the same as he helped her from the pool. This little escapade wasn't over with but it was not the time for it either as they began making their way inside; the laughter and chatter from their friends erupting even more in glee when they saw the pair walk in looking like two half drowned rats. They took it in jest as Jamie told them to bugger off.
"Oi, save some of that beer for me will yah! I gotta get the lady into dry clothes real quick!" he shouted pointing at one of his friends who cheered and held up a can of beer in affirmative before the blonde gave Y/n a sweet smile and closed the basement door behind them.
"And you pretty girl, head to the bathroom and get into a hot shower yeah? I'll go grab you clothes to change into." he offered guiding her up to his bedroom.
Not like she didn't already know but having his warm hand on her back sent little tingle of pleasure down her spine. Once they were in his bathroom he turned to close the door for her but she stopped him with a hand on his arm. "J-Jamie about what happened…" she trailed off
The man turned to her with a blank look making fear spiral inside of her. But it was vanquished as he leaned over and pressed a tender kiss to her forehead. "Shower, we can talk later baby." he promised with a grin seeing the flush of pink of her cheeks at the nickname.
He left her then in the familiarity of his large master bathroom. She smiled to herself looking over at the mirror at her reflection. she remembered all the times she'd come over to do his hair or make-up for his next interview or show. The place held memories but as she looked closer she realized there was nothing to be afraid of anymore. Because among the things that were Jamie's sitting on the countertops. She could see items of her own scattered among them. She knew then that she wasn't going to be going anywhere because she had already moved in, and not just the heart of his home but the heart that beat within his chest, and that was simply the most comforting thought she could have.

Where Shall I Go? (INTERACT W/ME)
Hello, my dear Wonderlings! Yes you, I am talking to you! Now that I have your attention I need YOUR help and opinion on a matter of creativity! As I get a little more free time on my hands to start writing again I'd like to know what kind of things you'd like to see from me. I am not like other writer friends of mine who just blog memes and things of fandoms for fun and focus a lot on one-shots or short series.
My question and what I'd like to hear from you is what you'd like to see more of from me.
For those who have stayed with me from the beginning who knew me when I was writing Stranger Things content to the newest followers who may have followed me for my actor one-shot scenarios or newest Sandman content. I thank you very much for your support.
But what would you like to see me write more about? More Stranger Things perhaps? Or are you on board with the Sandman content that I have been releasing? Are you someone who enjoys my writing of actor scenarios and prefer to read more of those or do you not have a preference? I'd like to know your thoughts!
I am also a big fan of other fandoms as well; anything from certain animes to TV shows that no longer air as frequently as they used to. Doctor Who, Supernatural, all sorts of anime, House of Dragon, Game of Thrones, Marvel and DC movies etc. and many more on that list. Maybe list some things below if you're interested; I may not know some of them but it doesn't hurt to try and reach out friends!
Please interact below and let me know what you think and what you'd like to see more on my tumblr!

As Long As I'm Here - Robin Buckley (One-Shot)
Prompt: "As long as I'm here, no one can hurt you."
Pairing: Robin Buckley x You
Genre: Childhood friends to lovers
W.A.C Winner: @stanseventeen
Auth. Note: Thank you so much for the love and support of my work! I hope you enjoy this special one-shot just for you!
She looked cute today. Nervous as all hell as she stared at herself in the mirror; fluffing her hair and tugging at her clothes ranting a mile a minute to the point you'd just pretty much zoned out on what she was actually saying. Her flustered state had nothing to do with the way you were looking at her of course; she never noticed before and just like now she didn't see the way you're eyes scanned her form from head to toe admiring the leggings that hugged her long legs just right and the way the dress she wore fell just barely to mid-thigh in soft cotton; the cinch round her waist made her hips a little more noticeable than the mom jeans she normally wore. Plainly put, the new style made a difference in her appearance. Long gone were the tomboy clothes and boyish nature of her being. She hated being feminine, that much was obvious but she was making an effort. Effort for the wrong reason and effort for the wrong person.
"Are you listening to me?!" you blink up at her from where you lay lounged in her desk chair; shoes dragging along her carpet to stop the spinning chair that was making you dizzy.
"Yes, Robin. I am listening to you. But for all the words vomiting from your lips I wouldn't say what you're talking about makes much sense babes." you reply resting an arm on the back of the chair to stare at your childhood best friend with a lazy expression.
The girl threw her hands up in the air in exasperation. "Damnit, Woman! Just," she growled under her breath in frustration as she ruffled her hair only to realize what she did and freaked out even more as she spun back around to her mirror to try and fix her short blonde brown hair.
Rolling your eyes you unfold your frame from the chair and walk over to stand behind your friend in the mirror. Your eyes watching with a distasteful scorned look in them. Why did Robin have to put effort into being someone she wasn't? Robin wasn't a priss and she was definitely not the most feminine style-wise. She was a nerd; a pretty nerd, but a nerd nonetheless who played in the marching band for Hawkins High and wore clothes more on the boyish sides than anything else. Yet here she was standing in the mirror acting like a girl. She really didn't realize just how perfect she was without even having to try, that was seriously the saddest part of it. Not the fact that you're best fucking friend in the world was getting dressed up to confess her feelings for another person and that person wasn't you.
Okay, let's rewind this morning. After hours of talking in the wee hours of the morning while the moon still shone in the sky, you'd somehow convinced Robin to pull her big girl panties on and finally confess her feelings for her crush. The crush being none other than Tammy Thomas, a girl that thought she was perfect, a singer in the making despite her voice sounding like a chicken squawking when she sings. Another girl from the school who your best friend had a crush on for the longest time. That wouldn't have been an issue to you if there were not 2 things seriously wrong with this plan. 1 being that Hawkins was not a town that looked fondly on same-sex love prospects. Things had gotten a little better over the years but there was definitely more against the idea that there were pros for it. And number 2 was the fact that you'd been in love with your best friend since you guys were young. You'd grown up with Robin and had known you liked girls before Robin ever did. But you'd kept mum for the very reason that number 1 was presented. And perhaps because you were scared to ruin your friendship with the only friend you had. But you guys weren't kids anymore and you'd both grown up and almost graduated to go to college for Pete's sake! But now that Robin finally got the courage to say how she feels to her crush; you knew your chances of speaking up were mummed. Hell, Robin didn't even know that you liked girls. She'd always thought you liked Steve Harrington which only became a stronger alibi for you since you sort of started hanging out with Steve more towards the beginning of the senior year in high school. So, yeah. You could tell why Robin might think that but she never ever expected to think that her best friend was in love with her. She didn't even look at you that way and it sucked sure but you were selfish when it came to Robin. You'd let her live in her little oblivious state regarding you as long as it meant you could see her happy.
"Just breath Robs." you sigh rubbing her shoulders and resting your chin on her shoulder looking at her through the mirror. "You look beautiful." granted, you preferred her not dressing up where she felt uncomfortable but your words were genuine. She did look pretty it just wasn't her style.
Her hands came up to grab yours on her shoulders and her face softened. "Thanks, you're always so supportive. I don't know what I would do without you," she said softly and all you could do was plaster a smile on your face and squeeze her shoulders a second.
"You're my best fucking friend Robin. I'll always be there for you babes," you tell her honestly even when your heart broke a little at the thought that she may never be yours.
When you finally arrived at school you made a beeline for Steve who was talking with another classmate by the lockers as Robin left your side to go in search of Tammy Thomson. Your face said it all and Steve knew it the second his dark gaze turned from his classmate to look over their shoulder at your figure as it stalked across the hall towards him.
"Shit," he muttered as he excused himself and quickly met you halfway; hand grasping at your arms as he saw the look on your face. "She seriously doing it?" his voice was soft so no one else could hear. Steve knew all about Robin's plan to confess thanks to you calling him this morning before your bestie woke up.
"Yeah, she fucking is!" you mutter looking around feeling the bubbling of emotions all over the place. You want to be supportive you really do. But you also wanted to cry because frankly, you couldn't bare the thought that you're the best friend that you've been in love with since you were like 13 and had the possibility of being in a relationship with someone else.
"Shit sweetheart I'm sorry. Maybe she'll be turned down and then you can be there for her you know? All hopes not lost you just gotta keep it positive." bless his soul for wanting to be supportive but as a straight man himself, Steve just didn't understand the lesbian language of emotion. But you gave him brownie points for at least trying.
But it didn't last long. The day had taken its course and you hadn't yet seen Robin or heard anything of what was going on until halfway through the school day during lunch when you and Steve were on the way towards the bleachers to eat outside together when a figure rushed past them towards the girl's bathroom. Her clothes were trashed with whatever cafeteria food and drink were on the menu today was now all over her pretty outfit. At first, you thought 'what a poor soul' thinking another classmate just got bullied but when those blue eyes locked tearily on yours just seconds before the figure disappeared inside the bathroom you felt your heart stutter. That 'poor soul' was Robin. Steve confused and worried tried calling out to you as you shoved past everyone in favor of making your way into the bathroom.
At first, you didn't see Robin but you could hear her. The sound of crying from the farthest stall inside the bathroom was a dead giveaway but at least she was alone; that much you were thankful for. Taking a few steps in you called out to her to let her know you were here.
"Robin, honey are you okay?" you say concerned as you walked further inside the room. You paused in front of the locked stall door and rested your hand on the cold surface. "Baby, can you let me in? Please?" you plead softly, trying to coax her to open up.
It was only a few seconds but it felt like forever as you heard her shuffling and moments later the stall lock was slid open and the door swung outwards towards you allowing you to fully see the damage done. Your mouth dropped seeing the goop of whatever the hell was lunch smeared in a gross-looking pattern all over her sweater dress and her hair was mostly damp with what was probably milk at one point. The mascara she'd applied so mechanically that morning was smeared beneath her eyes and spilling down in black streaks down her face along with the tears. She looked wrecked and heartbroken that much was evident by the gleam in her blue eyes and slump of her shoulders as she hugged herself.
"She called me a freak…a-and disgusting because I liked girls…" her voice was soft almost inaudible with how much she was mumbling over the words.
Anger flared up in you at that and you shook your head as you reached out slowly as if testing to see if she'd be too scared to be touched but when your fingers grasped her upper arms you were relieved that she did not pull away and you guided her out of the stall in favor of leading her to the sink. You didn't say anything at first, instead silently tugging off the sweatshirt you wore over your T-shirt and holding it out to her.
"Here, go ahead and change into this okay? I got some gym shorts you can change into also." you placed your bag onto the sink counter and dug into it to grab the pair of green and white gym shorts and handed them over. She looked hesitant as she held the items
"But my clothes-" you hush her with a shake of your head and carefully helped to peel off her sweater dress from her body. Trying to be respectful as you saw she wore nothing but a camisole underneath her dress and you absently thought the silk looked nice against her skin but you quickly look away in favor of grabbing the soiled dress to dunk it underneath the spray of sink water as you turned it on and thus allowing Robin to change from her leggings and into the gym shorts provided.
As she changed you used the sink and soap to wash as much of the stains you could from her clothing. After ringing out the access water you plopped the clothes off to the side before turning to look at Robin who stood behind you with her arms wrapped around herself. You sigh reaching out and rubbing her arms as a way of comforting her.
"Come here babes." you tug her towards the running water and instructed her to bend over. You did the same thing as you did with her clothes by ringing her hair out under the cold water and using the hand soap to get the crust from the strands of her hair and once you were satisfied that her hair was as clean as it was going to get without a proper shower you helped dry her hair with loads of paper towels.
"I'm sorry that happened Robs." you finally speak up as she hopped up onto the counter; absently kicking her bare legs out in front of her as you grab another paper towel and soaked it in water before you slotted yourself between her bare thighs so that you could wipe her make up away.
"I should have known better. Our time in age doesn't approve of such things." Robin shrugged but it didn't help the fact that her heart was broken and her soul humiliated.
You hated Tammy Thomas in that moment. You never really liked her in the beginning but now you had every reason not to like her even more. But you didn't say any of that and instead finished wiping away the makeup and leaning over to toss the crumbled paper towel away before turning towards your best friend with a look so earnest you had to tilt her chin up so that she was looking at you.
"Fuck it," you said simply with a shake of your head. "Fuck it all. Fuck this school, Fuck the opinions of others, Fuck 'em all. They don't matter. Stop worrying about the opinions and words of others who never had your best interest in mind in the very beginning. So what if they don't approve? Time and age will continue to move and evolve with or without them but that shouldn't stop you from taking risks and loving yourself even if it means putting yourself out there." you tell her seriously as you cup her face and peer up into her blue eyes; a soft smile playing at your mouth as you notice her own turning up into a soft half-heart smile.
"Since when did you get so wise?" she quipped trying to be a little bit chipper despite just what happened. You wouldn't know it but you being here with her meant everything to the girl.
"I've always been wise, people are always surprised when I give advice. The problem is I don't often follow my own advice." you shrug with a small smile. "Perhaps I should more often huh?"
Her head tilted into your palm and you couldn't help but lick your lips; watching as her gaze fell to them at the movement of your tongue, you noticed she didn't look away for a hot minute and your lips pulled up into a small smile. "And what advice are you not following?" Robin asked softly looking back up to yours.
You hum with a slight smile and shrugged. "All of it I guess. See, the truth is I never liked Tammy Thomas. You wanna know why?"
She hummed in reply and in question as she absently continued nuzzling into your palm. "Why's that?"
"Because she had everything that I wanted." you scan her face wondering if she would get the meaning behind your words. She didn't, of course, she didn't but if the world was showing you anything today it was that you sometimes had to take the risk so you went for it.
"She had your attention, your devotion, and your love. You talked about her in ways that I wish you'd have talked to me about. You looked at her the way that I've always wanted you to look at me…" your words were softly spoken seeing the realization dawn on her face along with the blush that graced her cheeks that you could feel the heat of them under your hands.
"W-what?! Since when?" she spluttered eyes wide in awe.
"Since we were 13," you confess with a slight laugh as your head drops to her chest. "I've been in love with you since we were 13. Probably longer to be honest, but I knew when I was 13 that you were all I ever wanted and it fucking killed me when you're eyes would look at other girls the way that I always craved you to look at me like that."
"All that time…shit…" Robin whispered; her breath tickling the top of your head as she leaned her cheek against your hair. You laughed a bit and nodded.
"Trust me I know…I've wanted to tell you for so fucking long Robin trust me…I almost did but I was always afraid of ruining our friendship…afraid of what it'd mean if I found myself unable to have you by my side in whatever compacity." you confessed further and finally raised your head to look at her. She didn't say anything for a moment and you were starting to get nervous.
"Say something please…you're kind of freaking me out right now with the staring." you lick your lips nervously but your tongue barely had a chance to disappear back into your mouth before Robin leaned forward and pressed her lips against yours.
You froze for a split second as your brain tried to comprehend that your childhood best friend was kissing you. But only for a second. Not long enough for Robin to pull away even if she wanted to because goddamnit you'd been waiting for this moment for years. So you did the only thing you could think of and that was to pull her closer by the back of her neck with one hand while the other grabbed a handful of her plush thigh; trying to pull her as close to you as you could because the taste of her lipgloss was addictive as much as the feel of her beneath your hands were. The kiss was almost desperate even when it wasn't rushed. Many years of pent-up longing pour deeply into the act of physical love as you try to convey just how much Robin meant to you. It was different, sure you had kissed boys before. During your phase of trying to get over Robin when you thought she would never look at you twice like that. But it never held a candle to finally being able to express the love and devotion that you held for this smart, funny, and goofy girl in front of you.
You wanted to take things deeper. You wanted to hold her and kiss her, you wanted to cradle her so close to you and cuddle her at night; never leaving each other's side. But you knew that you weren't going to do any of that. Not until you heard her side of things. So, with a regrettable longing, you pull away to study her dazed expression. You licked your lips; tasting her on them along with the smear of lipgloss she'd applied that morning as you studied her. Giving her a moment to open her eyes and gather her wits.
"That was….wow." there was a sort of giddiness about her face and for a second you thought you kissed her dumb but her eyes focused again on you and you waited with a raised brow and curious eyes.
"I didn't know I needed that…" she mumbled studying your face. "For the longest time, I thought I needed to look elsewhere for someone who loved me…but I guess I should have been looking in front of me huh?" you chuckle slightly and shake your head.
"Look babe, I don't want you to think that you need to give me an answer now or if you don't feel the same that's completely fine. I don't want you to think you need to choose me."
"But you're a perfect choice…" Robin's arms wrapped around your neck to pull you closer. "It's not just me saying this because you're my best friend…you've always been my best friend and you've always had my back. Always there for me when no one else would fight for me." you try to shrug it off and you looked away from her imploring gaze but she wouldn't let you. Instead, she nudged your face back to look at her and there was a softness about her features.
"I love you. And not just as a best friend…I guess I always have just took me until now to actually realize what I needed was right in front of me all along." Robin pressed her forehead against yours and smiled at you. "Forgive me for not seeing it sooner?"
Your eyes rolled a bit and you wrapped your arms around her waist to draw her closer. "Nothing to forgive birdie." your fingers wiggle against her sides making her giggle as you gave her light tickles.
"Thanks for always being there for me…You always were there to pick me up when I needed it." Robin giggled and your features softened at the sound.
Squeezing her sides a bit you looked up into her pretty eyes and smiled softly. "As long as I'm here. No one will hurt you. I promise." you whisper before tipping her chin up so that you could kiss her again.
A knock at the bathroom door broke through the moment and it began to open. A hesitent Steve peeked his head around the door with his hand over his eyes. "I'm not looking but are you guys okay?" he asked.
"Yes Steve." you laugh a bit watching as his hand fell from his eyes in relief and surveyed the scene in front of him. His brows popping up on his forehead as he saw the pair of you. "Oh just say it." you quip feeling a smile tug at your lips even when youe words were meant to sound annoyed.
"I totally told you so."
