GFDI you’re right. Swap out “necromancer” with “undertaker” and you would sound precisely like Roisia’s mother. But that also means that one (1) stupid video game choice I gave absolutely zero thought to would actually be a terrible choice for my character! For anyone curious, I’ve broken it down in my usual rambling manner under the cut.

H’ok. So. Let me explain.

I went with Astarion’s romance because he was the only romanceable character available to Roisia at the time. That’s one out of five. In my brain, I told myself I could justify and rationalise Roisia picking Astarion “in world”: the vampire satisfies his desire to gain a little blood and a little influence over the MC, Roisia satisfies her curiosity about how a vampire works up close and personal, and they can both have a little fun in the process. Everyone goes home happy!

Then again, maybe not.

Vampirism isn’t a form of resurrection; the undead creature persists in their cadaverous form. That’s part of the reason behind the desire to drink the blood of the living: vampires hunger for the essence of life, something they themselves have lost.

And Roisia’s more than just a necromancer, she’s an undertaker first and foremost. So you’re right! She should know that shaggin’ a 200+ year old corpse--however conscious and however much he says ‘Please.’--is still a necrophiliac act and is in Roisia’s profession Extremely Unethical. (I mean, you wouldn’t want grieving families to think that they’re adding their deceased loved ones to your personal dating pool, now would you?)

Now granted, Astarion is not a corpse in a traditional sense and more specifically, Astarion doesn’t seem to think of himself as a corpse. He calls the raised skeletons in the dank crypt unthinking cadavers and refers to the undead druegar as mere husks. So he clearly sets himself apart... but does a conscious, consenting decedent make the necrophiliac act more or less unethical for an undertaker? I’m not sure Roisia would be entirely comforted by an affirmative because she still is going to have a great deal of trouble making eye contact with her mother

This reply to my post was great. I always like to crack jokes using my characters, but this made me realise that something I thought of as impulsive and trivial for my character actually might have far greater meaning and implications for her down the road and in hindsight. ... Also, I love when other people create my characters’ melodrama and angst for me. Thank you. ;>

@ 15yo anon: It doesn't look like anyone else has said exactly this yet, so I'll say it: the teenage years are the worst in life. Being a teen is hell in ways no other stage of life is. But when you come out the other side, somewhere around 19 or 20, you'll know that you are strong and you can get through anything. Everything is easier when you're older (even if you end up with new, "more complicated" problems) simply because you have a more biologically mature brain, you have more experiences to think back to, and you have a little more control.

Until then, remember this fun fact: the elements in your body, from the iron in your blood to the calcium in your bones, were forged by nuclear fusion in the hearts of stars.

Just reached the end of the current demo. Internally screaming because it's so good and I want more. <3 P.S. My first MC loves the Underworld and if there were an option to surreptitiously chonch some Underworld food to insure she could stay, she'd do it in a heartbeat by chapter 4 or 5.

I am... very much looking forward to introducing those options, including one for being as dramatic about it as possible. Others will be more surreptitious, though. :)

I think it's mostly the fact that the term 'RO' is engraved in the collective of the IF community and we, by default, refer to them as such.

Your suggestion is very valid and logical; I just changed the banner of the characters' section to 'love interests' instead and will refer to them as such in the future. Thank you again ♡

so i dont remember in particular with mbmbam but i used to watch GMM, and there was a bit where it was when your stomach was full that dessert would go into the dessert stomach and i just..
