"Did I startle you? I sincerely apologize..." There's a glimmer of amusement in his dark green eyes that calls into question just how sincere he actually is. His appearance is starkly different than hers, with his clothes pristinely clean and immaculately tailored. "Foraging with a dagger? Wouldn't you be better off with a trowel? You never know when you're going to be surprised at the edge of some country estate by a stranger, only to find your dagger is dull from digging in the dirt."

He gives a glance back over his shoulder at the estate in question, somewhat overgrown with vines and seemingly seldom occupied. "I can't blame you for assuming. I myself am simply a guest here. I can't answer if this little foraging hobby of yours is allowed here or not."

ANNIE   CHEWS   ON   HER   NAILS   ,   a   new   habit   following   the   war   .   there   are   much   worse   things   to   do   in   the   grand   scheme   of   things   ,   really   ,   so   she   sees   no   point   in   putting   forth   the   effort   to   stop   .   she's   got   johanna   in   4   ,   too   much   work   to   travel   with   a   baby   for   now   .   the   village   feels   like   a   ghost   town   ,   but   there's   some   light   in   the   presence   of   someone   who   understands   ,   even   a   little   ,   the   position   the   war   has   left   them   in   .

she's   on   the   couch   ,   a   hand   absentmindedly   rocking   the   bassinet   to   her   side   ,   the   other   pushed   to   her   lap   to   stop   the   bleeding   from   a   pulled   hangnail   .   ❝   sorry   that   i'm   not   the   best   host   ,   ❞   she   apologizes   on   instinct   ,   eyes   always   averted   .   ❝   it   really   does   mean   a   lot   that   you   came   —   i've   just   been   so   lonely   ,   you   know   ?   ❞   there   are   people   in   four   ,   plenty   of   them   .   she's   had   no   shortage   of   help   when   she   needs   it   .   even   her   father   ,   more   than   most   victors   had   left   .   but   johanna   must   know   ,   it's   not   quite   the   same   .

"Cannot or will not?" He stops the door from closing in his face with by sticking his foot in the door jam, which he smooths over by running a gloved hand through his hair and acting like he's simply leaning against the door rakishly.

"I consider myself a fairly observant person and I've observed that there are more than a few people around here that do not seem to resemble you and I and those people seem to want to make me dance like a little puppet. Are you truly going to toss me out without a second thought? To fend for myself without a clue on where the hell I am or how the hell I get back home?" Besides, Nikolai has a kingdom to run, though that's not a matter he'll bring up now...

   With his legs dangling off the roof, the unforgettable sight of Metropolis below him, he finds himself taking it all in. It almost didn’t feel real to see the city so full of life, like he had woken up and left the future—that terrible nightmare—behind him. But the ceaseless flames and destruction burning against his skin still felt far too real in his memories for it to simply be a bad dream.

   Sighing heavily, he hadn't realized Lois was joining him on the rooftop until she spoke and snapped him out of his daze. “Oh—Lois! Hiya.” He smiles wide and bright, appreciating the unexpected company. But his expression softens as he takes a moment to mull over her words.

   “Heh. Being alone is sort of…something I’ve just gotten used to.”

   The killer-robots certainly didn't make for good company, and it’s not like he had anyone else left back in the future anyway.

   He flattens his lips, a heavy pit in his chest forming as he turns his attention back to Lois. Don’t think about it. “—What about you? Seeing as you came up alone. Needed some fresh air?” It beats breathing in nothing but ashes and debris.

the smile on his widens as eun-ae bounces in excitement, feeling invigorated from the sight of his little one getting one of her wishes granted on one of the few off days he lets himself have just for her. while his gym had many well-known people from various industries— HUNTR/X was the one that his daughter always looked forward to seeing. and whatever made his princess happy, made him happy. so the offer to bring them along for a HUNTR/X fan meet was a pleasant surprise. he's certain that this would be a memory eun-ae would cherish forever. "aah, zoey-ssi!! at least let me pay a discounted price for the merchandise." he can only imagine what was said and done to accommodate their presence being there. grateful as he is for the experience, joon-ho doesn't want to take advantage of it.

“I thought that I might find you here,” Zuko said as he finally found Mai out in the gardens. Rather, she was nearby the turtleduck pond. He supposed it was a precious space for them, one where they had memories together, fond or otherwise. He sat himself down next to her, one leg folded over the other. “How are you feeling?” He knew she was going through a lot, what with her father having finally been caught and arrested. He knew the feeling of that well and wanted to support her. “You can talk to me, you know. Or not. We can just sit here in silence if that is what you prefer.”
