The Master was on his way to a very important meeting. He had, to his surprise, been requested and was rather enthusiastic to arrive. A new martial arts school was preparing to open in one of Ionia’s largest cities and they were looking for various styles to be taught there.
In the aftermath of his actions in the war many people in Ionia now knew who Yi was and a lot were aware of his situation. The loss of all of his people had taken his martial art’s style from its legendary status and made it nearly an extinct art. Yi had found a great student in the vastaya Wukong as well as a great friend. Still one student would not be enough to keep the art from dying out with the pair even if that were thousands of years away. Yi hoped it was. So finding more students like he had in the old days was still a priority.
The villagers of Hei Fai were friendly but they were taught to guard their martial art’s secrets well needing to be sure that others could not learn their skills for Qi. They were choosy about what outsiders would be allowed to learn their arts. Usually it was kept within their remote village but the fact Yi was the only one left meant he had no choice but to teach others or let the art die.
The Master was still rather selective on student and he still would be even if they allowed him to use their facilities. He always believed his arts were to dangerous to teach just anyone and he wanted them to have the right motivations. He would not teach anyone he suspected would use Wuju to hurt others mindless and if he caught a student doing so, he would make sure they would never fight again. Still people interested in taking up a martial art were likely to come forward and maybe he would find a few. They contacted him in hopes of getting a demonstration of his style to decided if he could teach it at the school.
He had to be there in a few hours for the demonstration with representatives of other major Ionian arts such as the Shaojin and Hiten. Yi was fast, he could make excellent time without the stress so he took it slow while he could. He was walking along a trail that connected two small villages that eventually lead to the main road to get to the city.
He was alone, which wasn’t something he would recommend to most because Ionia was fraught with dangerous creatures and desperate bandits. He was skilled enough to dispatch any threat that believed he was an easy target but most weren’t as fortunate.
Wukong sadly couldn’t be with him today. He had run off to visit his friend Ahri and sometimes that took a few days. He would be upset he had missed out on all the fun but maybe that was a good thing. Wu’s conflicting ideas about Yi’s teaching would only confuse the students and he will be able to introduce Wu gently to any students he obtained.
Or this was all part of the plan but plans change quickly. Yi walked around the a thick brush on the path and saw someone laying out beside the road. He stopped for a moment thinking it might be some bandit attempting to jump out and mug lone people on the path. That would explain her kneeled position but quickly he noticed something else, she was gripping her side and there was blood, lots of it. Even from this distance the Master could tell the injury was bad, bad enough it could be fatal if she wasn’t given aid and quickly.
Without hesitation he dashed to her side, his speed making it nearly instantaneous. Getting this close to her he could notice a few other things, namely she was a Vastaya with the legs of a bird, large feathery ears and a cap of feathers he wasn’t completely sure whether it was there as decoration or apart of her body. “This is serious, let me help you.”
