A smile graces his face the second he sees you.
It has become a reflex at this point, especially after a busy and inevitably tiring week; the sight of you standing there outside his door, a gorgeous grin plastered on your mouth, holding what seemed like a rather large lunchbox containing what he assumes are dishes of your cooking, is what Wonwoo can only define as heaven itself.
He immediately grabs your wrist and pulls you in the apartment, closing the door behind you before grabbing the handle of the bag to momentarily place it on the floor so he can do the one thing he’s been thinking about all week.
Hold you damn tight.
“This is nice,” you hum with a teasing tone, embracing him right back as he buries his face against your neck.
“I missed you,” he whispers.
You smile. “Ah, really? From the way you haven’t been answering any of my messages, it doesn’t seem like it.”
He pulls back, an already apologetic expression on his features, though before he can utter an apology out, you place a palm on his cheek and pull his face down for a quick kiss.
“I’m kidding. I know you’re busy because of your exams. That’s why I’m here.” You start picking up your bag.
Wonwoo beats you to it however, getting it himself and gesturing for you to freely walk further inside his apartment.
Your friends and acquaintances always tease you about the fact you’re dating a medical student. They reckon that being in a relationship with one is already a lost case to begin with—you are bound to always compete with his jam-packed schedules as he studies and works hard to become a future medical practitioner.
And though you do understand that what they are claiming are entirely and quite painfully true, that still isn’t a good enough reason for you to love your boyfriend any less, considering that you can also see Wonwoo trying to make time for you and give effort in the relationship despite his tight timetable.
“Sorry for not cleaning up,” he says with a chuckle once you arrive in the kitchen, paper bags and disposable utensils scattered around the counter beside the sink. “I didn’t know you were coming, so I’m a little bit over the place.”
You glance at him and notice how tired his face appears. He’s still handsome nonetheless—even in just his normal home attire that includes a plain shirt and jogging pants, he still ridiculously exerts extreme attractiveness—though at this instance, there are dark circles under his eyes and his complexion seems… seems a little dull, lifeless maybe, and from the looks of his tired stance as well, it’s like he’s been cooped inside his room all day long, doing nothing but reading and writing notes.
“Wonwoo,” you frown, “what did I say when it comes to busy weeks?”
He sighs, aware where the conversation is heading. “I can skip your messages but I can’t skip taking care of myself.”
You manage to smile a little because of how childish it always sounds whenever he says it. “Then have you been doing that? Because honestly, you don’t look like it.”
“I… I’ve been trying,” he sheepishly says.
“Okay.” You unzip the lunch bag as he walks closer to where you are. “That’s progress, at least. I just hope you’re not eating ramyeon every single day because you know how unhealthy that is too.”
“But I love ramyeon. It’s my comfort food.”
“It’s not good for you, babe.”
“I don’t eat it every day,” he defends, stopping behind you and hugging your waist while you continue to unpack what you brought for him, his chin resting on your shoulder. “Just every other night. Seungkwan sometimes stops by to give me home cooked meals, you know.”
“I know. I’m glad he does.”
The both of you don’t speak for a few seconds. Wonwoo just carries on hugging you, slightly swaying you from side to side with perhaps half of his weight on yours.
Eventually, you’re moving from one spot to another inside the kitchen—heating up some rice, heating the food that already went a little cold alongside it, and preparing the plate he’s going to eat on as well—all of that happening with your boyfriend still clinging on you like a koala (which to be frank, you’re not exactly annoyed at).
“Babe,” he abruptly says and you glance at him, pausing in putting some kimchi on a small bowl, “what do you think about moving in with me?”
You raise your eyebrows at the question, your hands freezing. “What?”
“I promise not to be that much of a burden,” he tells you straight off the bat. “I mean, I know I can’t cook for shit, but I can clean. I can wash the dishes and do the laundry and stuff you can’t do when you’re the one who’s busy.”
“Wonwoo—”
“I can still shoulder rent and utility bills too. Or maybe you’d want to chip in, but I wouldn’t mind if—”
“—hey, hey.” You chuckle and place the chopsticks down in order to detach yourself from Wonwoo’s embrace, facing him instead to talk about the topic better. “Are you serious right now? Do you know what you’re asking me?”
“I do,” he replies. “I… I’ve been thinking about it a lot. It’s not just an impulsive thought, I swear.”
“You’ve been thinking about it?”
“Yeah. I just—I just thought it would be better for us. We’d get to see each other more often. Besides, your company building isn’t that far from here too. Even if it was, it wouldn’t matter—I’d drive and fetch you there myself every time if it meant I’d be with you here.”
You’re speechless. Wonwoo’s not really the type to be overly affectionate, honestly speaking, though he isn’t that cold and distant either. He usually knows what the right words to say to get you blushing and your heart to feel full; he likes to buy you meaningful tokens of appreciation at times he feels like it and would agree to do something for you if you asked, regardless of how it might clash with his original plans.
However, you still find yourself being surprised to hear him say those words out loud. It might be because you haven’t been receiving that kind of attention from him in a considerably long time, and so to get them now, it’s like your system is slowly trying to restart and get used to it all over again.
“It’s okay if you don’t want to,” he says when you fail to answer for the last 10 seconds or so. “I just wanted to suggest it. I think I’m starting to hate being alone in this apartment.”
You snort at his last statement. “You don’t hate being alone, Wonwoo,” you reckon, soon encircling your own arms around his torso, “you just don’t like it when I’m not with you.”
He grins and leans down when you begin reaching for his lips, pressing his mouth on yours for the kiss you’ve been trying to get. “Yeah, you’re right. I absolutely despise not being with you.”
Wonwoo steals a bunch of long kisses for a while, and once the two of you break free to breathe, you give him a final peck before speaking. “Okay. I’ll check my lease and start talking to my landlord about it. Then I’ll move in with you.”
“Wait, seriously? You’re agreeing just like that?”
“Seriously.” You kiss him again, letting go of him afterwards. “Well, we still have to talk about it more, but for the meantime, how about we eat and you tell me what you think about the dishes I cooked for you so that I’ll be more convinced to move in with you instead. What do you think?”
A contagious and warm grin spreads on his face again. “God, why don’t I just propose right now too while we’re at it?”
“Hey,” you slap him on the chest, laughing, “let’s take it slow. We have to get you that medical degree first.”
He mutters a soft, “If you say so,” and pinches your cheek in fondness, maneuvering around you then to get his plate and try some of what you prepared.
Even before the first bite though, he’s sure that it’s going to be delicious. After all, if it’s something to do with you—he’s positive that it’s automatically considered as amazing in his book.

hi!! i was thinking of a continuation to ‘damaged’ where either the reader or wonwoo (u can pick) gets into a (not that serious) car accident (if you’re comfortable writing about that) and the other gets called to the emergency room. and when they arrive, they break down because they were just so worried and the other has to reassure them that they’re ok? something like that
Hi there Anon! I'm sorry if this took longer than expected. I started my new job today, yay me, back in the chokehold of corporate America lol! I really loved writing this one. It was a bit shorter than usual but I feel like it was perfect this way! Thank you for requesting! Enjoy!

It was his biggest nightmare brought to life.
"Hello, am I speaking to the guardian of Ms. Y/N Y/L/N?"
He couldn't believe it was happening to him again. Almost as if hell had been brought to Earth just for him.
"Ms. Y/L/N was in a car accident and she is currently being examined in the ER."
Wonwoo's phone had slipped out of his hand landing with a hard crack on the sidewalk. Heart racing so fast, and legs so weak that it came as a shock that he was even able to move forward at all. Dark and bad memories filling his mind like the dark clouds that filled a peaceful blue sky at the time of a storm.
"No. no. no. Not again!"
Words repeated in his head like a mantra. He couldn't lose you. He couldn't lose you. Not you.
Wonwoo's mind was clouded with worry and anxiety as he re-lived the moment that had so deeply scarred him years before. Old traumas stealing any little peace he'd had in the past few months. Yet this time was different. This time he was here, this time he was fast on his feet as he rushed towards the edge of the street as if with tunnel vision. His hands urgently shaking and coaxing until he could get a cab that could take him directly to you.
"Where to?"
Wonwoo's mind was working overdrive as he spoke words that didn't seem to reach his own ears. All he knew was that he needed to get to you and he needed to get there fast. "Please. Please. Please. Not again"
The old man at the wheel stole glances at the young man worriedly. Wonwoo's face was pale and his entire being seemed to be shaking so much that the old man felt compelled to ask if he needed him to call an ambulance instead. It was the harsh glare of the mzn in the back seat, however, that scared him to silence and caused him to step deeper into the pedal.
By the time Wonwoo arrived at the hospital, he was on the brink of hyperventilation. He needed to see you. He needed to see you immediately. He needed to know you were okay, or at least that you were going to be okay. "Where is she? Y/N Y/L/N. I need to see Y/N Y/L/N." He repeated the same phrase over and over until someone finally got him to the room you'd been moved to.
There you were, and you were awake. He could hear nurses telling him to drink some pill to help calm him down, but he pushed his way through to you, instead. He didn't need any pills, he needed you.
"Oh god." For the first time since he received the call about your accident, he seemed to come to his senses and realized he was crying. "You're okay. You're okay."
You were taken by surprise as he barreled into you causing you to grunt out in discomfort. "Wonwoo... sweetheart..."
The nurses that had followed him in stared at him in concern but you assured them he'd be okay in a few moments followed by a request for privacy. They nodded and left the room leaving the crying Wonwoo in your arms as he squeezed your sore body into his own.
"I was so scared. I thought-"
You knew exactly what he thought. It was the exact same reason you'd insisted on not having him be your emergency contact, but he was stubborn and would not allow that information to be changed. "I know. Wonwoo, I know, but I'm okay. It wasn't all too bad. I'm just a little sore. I promise."
Wonwoo pulled away from you and took in your appearance for the first time since he'd barged into the room. "Are you hurt? I'm sorry, I should've been careful." He apologized and wiped at his eyes. "I'm sorry. I was just so relieved to see you were alive."
You couldn't help but let out a soft laugh. Your hand reaching out to push back the hair that was stuck to his sweaty forehead. "What, did you think I'd leave such a handsome man behind for other girls to take? Absolutely not. We made a promise, Wonwoo. You're about to be stuck with me for life"
Wonwoo took your hand in his and pressed his lips to the pretty engagement ring he'd put on your finger just 2 months prior. "That's a promise we made, Y/N. You can't break it." his shaky voice was a dead giveaway. He was still scared. Childlike.
"I'm not planning on breaking it, you dork... Now get on here. I was startled when the accident happened. I need you to hold me so I can calm down." Your hand patted at the small space you were able to make for him on the hospital bed. Without question, he took a seat beside you, pulling you partially onto his side.
You could hear his erratic heartbeat still thundering against his chest. it would be a few minutes, but Wonwoo would be okay, and so would you. After a few moments of silence, Wonwoo finally spoke.
"Did they run X-rays?"
"Baby, I'm fine. I promise the doctor checked me out. He said I'm fine and recommended I wear a neck brace at least to sleep." You assured.
His fingers combed through your hair as he spoke softly, "Maybe you should wear it throughout the day too. Just to be sure."
Once again, you laughed at how overly caring he was, but you nodded in agreeance. "Okay, I'll make sure your to wear it throughout the day."
"I love you."
"Yes, I love you too but we should probably get me signed out, though. I want to go home" You told him.
“For love, I will handle your sins.”
“And for justice?”
Wonwoo’s arm is a sturdy warmth around your shoulder, both your eyes glued to the television screen in front of you. It’s 2 a.m. on a Friday night and you and your best friend are up to your usual plans: dramatic romance movies, popcorn, the two of you wrapped up in warm blankets, curled up on your couch with your head on his shoulder, his arm around yours and the usual sleepover that would ensue soon after.
There must be lifetimes where the two of you are more than this, you muse, but this is the way it’s always been, and despite your hidden feelings for your dearest friend, you wouldn’t change or trade your friendship for the world.
It’s true; you’d be a liar if you said you hadn’t ever wished things were different, that if maybe he or you were different, things between the two of you could be different. But this is the lifetime you’re born into; one where you are only his friend, but even then, your gratitude outweighs your yearning every time. So as always, you keep your eyes on the movie, ignoring the way your heart races at his touch despite its familiarity. You let yourself cry through the angsty bits of the movie and even shed a few tears, secretly meant for yours and the main character’s one-sided loves.
Especially now that he had a girlfriend, you’d keep this secret to the grave. Finally, this dork of a best friend of yours had finally managed to snag the girl of his dreams: the long awaited, beautiful girl who you were convinced had probably saved a country in her past life to be this lucky. Admittedly, it hurt to see them together, but despite this, you were thankful for her. She brought joy to light of your life and for that, you’d be forever grateful. So much so that you barely even ever registered the pang of pain in your chest anymore.
Wonwoo had been particularly restless that night, but as his best friend, you knew him well enough to know that if it was something he wanted to share with you, he would and that prying just wasn’t the best way to go about it. So, as he fidgets every few seconds throughout the opening scene of the movie, seemingly looking for a comfortable spot, you let him. You carry on as usual and remain unbothered, completely trusting that when he’s ready he’ll tell you.
Somewhere along the line though, your worries diminish as he finds a comfortable spot, head resting on your shoulder with the blankets snugly pulled up and encasing the two of you in shared warmth. The movie ends and the credits roll. You press the soft cotton of the blanket to your eyes, dabbing the dampness from the tears away. Then, looking up at Wonwoo who at some point had managed to become engrossed enough in the movie to finally focus on it, you saw he was now fighting back the obvious tears in his eyes. Honestly, he did this for every movie, fight back his tears, often saying that he didn’t want to get his glasses wet. Being the wonderful and understanding best friend that you are, you simply let him believe that you believed his reason. But you knew the truth, you knew that he had to stop himself or he’d be an even bigger sopping mess than you by the end of the movie.
“That was so good,” you tell him, offering him the same portion of the cotton blanket you’d used to dab your own tears.
“Yeah,” he agrees, lifting his glasses up to his hair as you move to dab the moisture off his face like you always do, but before you can, he moves back as if recoiling from your incoming touch and he takes the cloth you’re offering, then dabs his face on his own.
You almost raise a brow at the sudden and unusual gesture, but you let it slide. You really weren’t the confrontational type anyway, maybe he was feeling particularly antsy tonight and just didn’t want to feel like a bigger crybaby than his best friend (which to be completely honest, you knew he was and your entire shared friend group knew it too, not that you’d ever tell him though). Instead of saying anything though, you indulge him, grabbing the now empty bowl of popcorn from his lap and getting up to rinse it in the sink.
“Hey,” he says your name in a tone you haven’t heard since high school when he’d accidentally lost your favorite book and just didn’t know how to come clean about it. The sound makes you stop the circular motions of soaping on the bowl in your hands and look right at him.
In the darkness of the room, the only source of light from the moon outside the window and the quiet flashing of the still turned on television with the credits rolling to soft music, you see his expression clear as day. It’s tense and almost stoic. You can tell he isn’t angry at you, but he’s upset and from the twisting of his facial features, you knew he was struggling to get the words out.
You rinse your hands and walk over to him, drying the dampness on the fabric of your hoodie. “Hey, Woo,” you take a spot next to him, an arm instinctively wrapping around his shoulder and a hand from the opposite arm rubbing soothing circles onto the space on his chest where his heart was.
“It’s okay, you can tell me anything.” You say and he believes you, but it isn’t his belief in you that feels tested, but it’s in himself. Could what his girlfriend said to him possibly be true? And if it was, where did they go from there? Where would you and he go from there? Would he be able to bear what he might hear?
Braving his internal panic, he lets the question out, not meeting your eyes as the jumbled mesh of words tumble from his lips: “Do you like me?”
His question catches you of guard and your hands freeze their ministrations on his chest. You look him in the eye and for the first time in all the years you’ve known Wonwoo, you’re at a loss for words. He is too, finally staring back at you and reading the panic and fear that flash across your features. He was so sure you’d say no, but he knows that your silence is answer enough.
He shakes his head, looking down at where your hand is still frozen on his chest and he takes it in his own to remove it and untangles himself from you, shifting slightly on the couch to sit further from you and put enough distance that neither of you are touching. The sudden loss of contact feels cold and foreign to you, but you don’t protest.
“Y/N.” disappointment. You hear it so clearly in his tone that your eyes shift as quick as light to look down at the potted plants on your coffee table in the middle of the living room. Anywhere else but at his face where you know his beautiful, soft features are marred by the same disappointment that drips in his tone.
“I have a girlfriend.”
You’re offended by the way his says it. As if you had any malice or ill intentions towards him, when he was the one who asked first; as if all these years have been some kind of ploy to get him into your bed instead of years built on mutual understanding and adoration that had grown into something deeper than romance.
Hot tears threatened to pour from your eyes. You were going to be sick; how could he think so lowly of you? How could he diminish the sturdy foundations of something built on years of friendship in so few words? It must have been a talent, you thought bitterly, to be so eloquent that he could reduce a soul’s connection to another with so little, so easily.
He on the other hand, reads your tears as an admission of guilt. He watches you, shoulders and frame shaking as you try to fight the sob that wracks through your chest. “To be honest,” he speaks trying to fill the silence as he usually does in moments of uncomfortable confrontation, but you just wish he would stop. The more he spoke, the more his disappointment seemed to seep out of him, spilling out onto the carpet of your freshly made and cleaned apartment, staining everything.
“I didn’t believe it when I heard it at first. I thought Sohee was just being paranoid, but now…” he trails of, letting the pause settle and spread around the room into tension so palpable that even a knife couldn’t cut it, it rang in your ears so much so that you felt that maybe your ears might pop.
“Now, I don’t know.”
You don’t respond. You don’t say anything because like him, you also don’t know. Any attempts at defending yourself seemed futile at this point, especially when it seemed as though he’d made up his mind. Unfortunately, it wasn’t made in your favor.
“I think I should go,” he says, getting up from the couch, pushing the blanket off his lap and gathering his things from a corner of the room.
When he reaches the small hallway in your apartment leading to the door, he turns to face you, finding that you’d quietly followed his movements and were there to see him out despite the tears still streaming down your cheeks that you had left unchecked.
He looks at your shaken form; you devastated from the suddenness of it all, him devastated by what he saw as your betrayal of his trust and at a loss for what would come next. Watching you like that, his heart ached, and he couldn’t help but wrap his arms around you in a comforting embrace.
Crying into his shoulder, soaking his shirt, you wrapped your arms around his waist and shoulders recognizing the hug exactly for what it was at this point. You’d known Wonwoo long enough, had been in love with him long enough to know every meaning and reason behind every movement he made.
This was pity.
You spill a few tears for the friendship you feel like your losing, and for the shear pathos of your situation; how low was low enough at this point? How much more pathetic could you get?
As you cry, you feel him squeeze you before his words break through the sound of your sobbing, “We shouldn’t see each other,” it feels as though his sentence is incomplete, the way it hangs in the air, as if he’s left the last word out before he abruptly adds, “you know, just for a while, while things calm down.”
He says for ‘a while’, but you know that a while piles up; a while could be minutes, even days. A while could also mean years. You knew your best friend like the back of your hand and exactly what he meant by a while. It was a kind let go, a caring send off to you; a while, in this case, was a kind goodbye. A while meant never again.
You push of and out of his grip, angry but still gentle in your touch. “Are you serious? Over this small thing, Wonwoo I would never, I’m not that kind of person–”
“It isn’t a small thing,” he cuts you off, a little too aggressively, voice a little too loud, eyes a little too furrowed for your comfort. That’s when you realize, it’s those miniscule changes that make someone so familiar, look so easily like a stranger.
“It isn’t small, please don’t trivialize it.” You try to process his words and almost think that maybe he’s feeling guilt over all the years he hadn’t noticed your feelings, but the next words out his mouth prove otherwise. “It bothers Sohee, and I doubt that would go away, especially now that you’ve admitted it.”
Should you have lied instead? You wonder. As if this situation is on you when you’d never even dared or thought of making your feelings known.
“So, for her sake, for her comfort, I don’t think I can see you right now.”
You feel frozen in place, but your feet feel like their failing you, like you’re being engulfed in quicksand, you already couldn’t move, and just as the cherry on top, you were sinking.
“So that’s it then? An entire lifetime’s worth of friendship, down the drain, just that easily?” You ask, your voice barely above a whisper, not wanting to sound or seem like you were begging for him to stay.
When he doesn’t answer, you try again, “C’mon Woo, we’ve been in each other’s lives for as long as we could remember.” At the words, you feel your resolve to remain dignified failing, “I don’t know this world without you, all our friends are the same, our families are so close, I can’t exist without you, and I-I know it isn’t just me.”
You look into his eyes and watch tears start to pool in them from behind his lenses as you speak, and just when you think you’ve gotten through to him, an apology slips from his lips. “I’m sorry, it isn’t permanent, at least I don’t think it will be. Just till things blow over.”
You feel your firsts clench at your sides. ‘Till things blow over?’ As if this friendship of over fifteen years could ever just blow over, as if the feelings you’ve harbored and taken such great care to hide and protect him from would ever just blow over, for him to minimize this as though forgetting the intertwinement of your lives and souls was as simple as waiting for a storm to cease. Maybe for him it was that simple, but for you, it would be like rebuilding a house after watching it burn down, or losing a limb; you could replace it, remake it, but it would never be the same or as good as what it was before the loss.
With that, he faces the door again. This time his hand is firmer on the doorknob. Even the metal in his hand knows of his certainty and resolve to leave. How lucky it is, you think, to be the last thing he touches, prints embedded into the cold surface, permanent to the memory, but invisible to the eyes the moment he would let go and leave.
At that moment, you feel yourself overcome with a sudden surge of anger that washes over you like a bucket of cold water waking you from your immobility, and the words leave your mouth before you can even think to stop them.
“So what if I love you?”
The tone you use is sharp and Wonwoo doesn’t think he’s ever heard that sound come out of you, let alone directed at him; so striking with how full of hurt and burning rage it was. The sound is something akin to a wounded animal and it makes him stop dead in his tracks.
Slowly, he turns to look at you. He says nothing, but his eyes are a silent question; mixed emotions of a clarification begging to be answered, laced with a fear that seemed to take over his features at the realization of your words. If he let himself speak, if he found enough of his voice to even attempt to ask you what you meant, what would that mean for the two of you? Even for him and Sohee? He desperately wanted to know your answer to his unspoken question, but he also knew that once he knew, once the words released into the world, they couldn’t be unsaid.
At least now, if he didn’t hear you, he could always excuse himself and you; say he never knew exactly how you felt, that it was just mere infatuation that would subside. But if he knew, in his mind, he knew there would be no going back from the words you would say. He wouldn’t be able to bear the weight of your truth, the gravity of what you truly felt for him.
You, on the other hand though, do not back down. You’re angry and understandably feeling very betrayed, so you let the negative feelings flood out of you; if he wanted out of your life – out of this friendship – then he would also have to deal with being treated like someone who didn’t belong in it. He wouldn’t be spared the aftermath of destroying the one thing you held sacred in this life.
“So what if I love you?” You repeat, “So what I’m in love with you and have been for most of my life?”
The heat in your eyes warns you of the traitorous tears that are threatening to spill over, this time tenfold of how they had the first time, but you power through it not caring if you looked like an idiot in front of him. You believed in fighting for this, for your friendship and for him. If there was ever anything that would ever be worth fighting for, you knew with every fiber of your being that it was this. Between him and the world, you would choose your friendship. You would choose him every time. (It was just unfortunate that for him, that didn’t seem to be the case).
You can see his trapped expression, like a deer caught in the headlights, while you were a freight train headed right for him. All it would take is one step, one twist of the doorknob already in his hand and one swift motion for him to leave to escape the impending danger that seemed to be rushing at him. Worst of all was though, he didn’t even know if he wanted to step out of your path of destruction.
“The fact of the matter is,” you feel the moisture finally escape from your eyes, the words becoming muddled as they mixed with your sharp intakes of breaths and sobs.
You’ve never been religious, but you find yourself praying desperately to any and every divine being there is in the universe that this last hail mary would pay off. You may not have been a believer of gods, but you had always been a believer in this connection with Wonwoo and you would exhaust any and all options before you let it go just like that.
“It doesn’t matter how I feel, because it all comes down to you.” You choke on the last word, knowing just how painfully true your words seemed to ring.
“Because you have never,” you push back a sob, your own tearful eyes boring into his own that now seem to be filling with moisture. Wonwoo may not have been as empathetic as you, but he knew you and with just the shaking in your voice and the pain in your eyes, he could already tell that years of agony and rejection seemed to spill from just the few words you had said.
It wasn’t at all what he had expected. Instead of pushing your romantic feelings onto him, what was happening seemed to be worse than what he had initially thought. Instead, you were resigned to this fate; a yearning so deep but unsatisfiable, a thirst that only he would quench, but couldn’t. The realization of true cruelty seemed to wash over him harder than he had ever thought possible, its result personified and facing him directly in the form of your broken form and unsightly begging.
He was wrong. You were not a freight train headed straight for him. It was him. He was an impending crash; the driver of a car you were a passenger to, as he headed straight for a cliff he would willingly (but unknowingly) drive the both of you off of, and yet, with every means for you to escape, you simply refused to. You would happily stand in front of him if he was a freight train; gladly bear the leap into the unknown abyss of a ravine, if it meant you would go down with him. You would set yourself on fire if it meant he could be warm, and nothing broke his heart more.
Eyes shut, as if anticipating the impending collision, you swallow the lump in your throat, and push yourself to continue, “and could never, feel the same.”
There it was. The reality you’d learned to live with. You had come to terms with it long ago, even if just on a subconscious level, but saying the words out loud, speaking into the universe was something else entirely. The agony of admission, of the truth coming to light, spilling from your mouth for the very person who was responsible for your hurt to see and spectate, was a pain unimaginable before this point.
You thought that after experiencing living through and with your unrequited love you could manage anything, but this was a kind of torture even more excruciating than the last. Your bleeding heart laid out on the floor, mangled and bloody for Wonwoo to examine every crevice of its selfish and wounded ventricles. Even more torturous was how he watched it, not so much as even an attempt to retrieve it from the ground; from his end there was nothing. Despite how long you seemed to wait for him to say something, anything, for him to be the best friend you knew he was and tell you that it would be okay.
It’s only when you find the courage to open your still teary eyes that you hear the first sound that breaks through the thickness of the silence:
Click.
Your eyes barely register his quick movements, only catching a glimpse of his shadow as he exits and closes the door of your apartment behind him.

when wonwoo's babysitter cancels on him at seven am on a thursday, he thinks his week can't get any worse. he's already had to dodge difficult clients and reschedule a whole day’s meetings after his three-year-old daughter, heejin, was sick and he had to stay home. that thought is proved incorrect, however, when he clips heejin into her car seat and he sees her bottom lip start to wobble. sighing loudly seems to only make the little girl more upset and before he can comfort her, the tears are already streaming down her face.
"hey, hey, hey," he soothes, wiping his fingers on the delicate skin under her eyes. "it's okay, sweetheart, daddy's bringing you to work today," wonwoo wracks his brain for something to cheer her up, at least until he gets to his office. "how about we get ice cream for lunch? would that cheer you up?"
he almost amazed at how ice cream seems to always solve heejin's toughest problems. warm relief floods his system as she stops sniffling and beams at him, her large eyes shining up at him.
"there we go, you have to be a good girl, though. can you do that for daddy?" she nods vigorously, clutching her fluffy bunny toy in her hands.
as it turns out, the ice cream promise can only work for so long, and as soon as wonwoo steps into the elevator, heejin clinging to his leg, her tears start falling again. he lifts her up, perching her on his hip as he tries to calm her cries. he wraps his arms tighter around her, pulling her into a comforting hug.
the last thing you expect to see when you're frantically trying to fit another consultation into wonwoo's schedule is a toddler in the office. let alone a toddler clung to your boss, crying into his neck. you freeze momentarily, confused, but are broken out of your stupor when the person on the other end of the phone starts shouting at you.
"i'm very sorry, mr montgomery, but mr jeon's schedule is completely full for the next week," the man in question shoots you an apologetic smile as he passes, trying not to laugh at the bewildered expression on your face. "i can fit you in for early next week, or i can defer you to another lawyer?"
after your borderline traumatic conversation, you decide to find wonwoo and ask him what the hell was going on. unsurprisingly, he's sat in his office, but instead of him in the chair behind his desk the little girl from earlier sits there, her body engulfed by the dark brown leather. she's still crying, her sobs getting louder and louder the longer you stand in his doorway. you're not sure if you should knock, you usually don't bother but the way he's crouched in front of her, offering her a reassuring smile, seems personal.
"i didn't know it was bring your child to work day," you start, walking a few steps inside the office before stopping, unsure how to act. "i would've brought my cat."
wonwoo chuckles and stands, accepting the slim brown file you hand him, flicking the first page open as you try not to stare at his child. you hadn't even been aware wonwoo had children until this moment. he still hasn't actually said it's his daughter, but the slope of her nose and the sparkle in her wide eyes confirm your suspicions.
"her babysitter cancelled this morning; the replacement is coming here at two." his words are distracted as he frowns at the busy day he has. he had been hoping it would be quick day so he could take heejin home and put a disney movie on for her to watch, maybe cook her favour food as a peace offering.
"ah, i see." you weren't quite sure why it was so jarring to find out wonwoo had kids. perhaps you should've known by the way your heart deflated slightly when you realised the kid must have a mother somewhere.
he looks up at you at your voice, frowning not unkindly. "i know it's inconvenient, but there was nowhere else she could go." the way he says it makes guilt flush through you and you immediately try to change your attitude.
"no, no, it's fine," the bags under his eyes don't do anything to make you feel better. "what's her name?"
"heejin," he smiles at her and you nearly melt, "she's nearly four. but she has a tendency to never stop crying when she starts. i think she's just scared."
walking up the chair, you crouch down and offer her your warmest smile, holding out your hand to her. "hi, heejin, my name's y/n, i work with your daddy." her cries stop, and she stares at you in what looks like confusion, but you were never good with kids. wonwoo holds his breath and waits for her to start screaming like she usually did with strangers, but he's shocked when heejin matches your smile. your eyes widen when her tiny hand clasps the ends of your fingers, an innocent giggle making your smile widen.
when you stand back up, the shock still on wonwoo's face makes you laugh. the file in his hand catches your eye again and you would regret if you didn't offer to help later. "do you want me to watch her for you? i can work in here, you have meetings to get to."
"you know i'm only making you do this because i'm desperate, right? i'm so sorry, i'll make sure you get a bonus for this," are the last words he says before he kisses heejin's forehead and rushes off to his first meeting, shooting you one last grateful smile on the way out.
once heejin had completely calmed down, she was quite easy to deal with. you were typing away on your laptop, replying to emails and starting to sort out the cases you and wonwoo would have to deal with over the next few weeks. heejin was sat on your lap, colouring a tiger you had printed off for her, her eyebrows furrowed in concentration. thankfully, no one knocked on wonwoo's office door for the whole morning except mingyu, who apparently heejin already knew and loved.
the surprise on his face wore off quickly when she shouted in glee. "uncle mingyu!" she called, dropping the orange colouring pencil and waving her arms up for him. he shot you a questioning look over her head as he picked her up, throwing her up in and catching her a few times. you mouthed the words babysitter cancelled at him and he nodded in understanding.
"hello heejin-ah, what are you doing here?" mingyu's voice was theatrically positive and you had to stop yourself form laughing at your usually serious co-worker playing with a tiny little girl.
"daddy said i had to come to work with him, but then he promised me ice cream for lunch," you never thought ice cream could make a child so happy.
"well if he promised then i guess you should get excited," he patted her hair down as he sat perched on his waist, "are you having fun with y/n?"
the cold wash of nerves surprised you as you waited for her to answer. "yes!" you breathed a sigh of relief, "she showed me pictures of her kitten! daddy won't let me get a kitten!" mingyu raised an eyebrow at you but you pretended to be busy on your laptop.
after mingyu left, heejin went back to colouring, only raising her head to complain she was hungry every now and then. wonwoo's meeting was supposed to have finished five minutes ago, so you told her he was coming to stop her complaining.
when he finally did turn up his hair was dishevelled from raking his hand through it and his tie was loosened around his neck. heejin jumped from you lap and ran up to him, hugging her arms around the bottom of his leg. "hi, princess, you ready for ice cream?" he asked as he picked her up.
"can y/n come?" your eyes widened at her question and you could feel your cheeks heat up. wonwoo seemed just as surprised, giving her what you thought was a warning look. his eyes softened when she whined his name. "daddy, please?"
his eyebrows were raised to you in question and you stumbled over a response, unsure what you were supposed to say. "i wouldn't want to intrude–"
"nonsense, she's normally shy around strangers, so she must really like you." your cheeks blazed further at the thinly veiled compliment and you nodded.
heejin was distracted on the walk to the ice cream store, watching the people pass by, and you took the opportunity to ask what you had been burning to the whole day. "i didn't know you had kids," you started, thinking on how best to bring up the topic.
luckily you didn't have to explicitly ask. "i don't tell many people, i guess. her mother left as soon as she was born, it's always just been the two of us." nodding in understanding, you hated the way your heart felt that little bit lighter knowing he was still single. the worker asking for your orders saved you from thinking of an appropriate response.
finding a seat was easy as the shop was quite empty for lunchtime. wonwoo had insisted on paying for your ice cream, claiming it was repaying you for looking over heejin, even though you told him again and again you had enjoyed it. heejin was too focused on her ice cream to pay attention to either of you.
"so, uh," wonwoo started and you didn't fail to notice the slight pinking of his cheeks. "do you have anyone special at home?" his words were awkward, and he watched you try not to laugh.
"no, it's kinda difficult to meet people with such long hours."
he nodded in understanding, trying to calm his heartbeat, hating how he felt like a teenager about to ask out his crush. the ice cream on your spoon slipped back into the pot as you swirled it around, waiting with bated breath for his next words.
"did you want to maybe, go for dinner sometime?"
"i'd love that."

masterlist
your stomach grumbled as you continued to write on the piece of paper
looking at the clock, you knew wonwoo would be home any minute for lunch so you quickly finished your thought on the paper and signed your name
you folded it up and placed it in the brown envelope with floral detailing you found at the corner store the other day
wonwoo has been working so hard recently
seventeen has a comeback soon, so he has been practicing nonstop
you’ve barely seen him, but you were used to it considering you’ve been with him during two other comebacks as well
but this time was different
he seemed to be so on edge…well from what you could tell
you didn’t get to see him that often during these times
that’s why you were writing him a letter
just as a way to let him know how proud you are of him, for everything he has accomplished and who he is
you’re proud to call him your boyfriend and you want him to know that
since he was in the midst of preparing for a comeback, it was a treat that he was coming over for lunch today
they only got a short break, so he wouldn’t be there for long, but you take what you can get
you finished closing the envelope when you heard a knock at your door
scanning the room for somewhere to hide the letter for now, you slipped it inside a book on your coffee table
you hurried over to the door and opened it to see a very tired wonwoo
wait, not tired, exhausted
his shoulders were hunched over and there were dark circles under his eyes
“hi, my love,” you say, standing on your tiptoes to gently embrace him
and it was like he basically melted into you
he lazily wrapped his arms around your waist and let out a deep sigh
after standing there for a few moments, you pulled back, “are you hungry? i have lunch ready!”
he kicked off his shoes and dropped his bag as he followed you over to the dining table that was adorned with all of his favorite foods
“jagiya, you didn’t have to do all of this…” he says as you pour some soda into his glass
“i know, but i wanted to! you deserve it. you work so hard, at least i could make you a good meal”
he smiles at you and leans over, giving you a quick peck on the lips
ugh, you’ll never get tired of his lips on yours
you both sat there eating, discussing what’s been going on in your lives for the past few days
it’s hard to keep up with each other’s lives when there’s a comeback
wonwoo just gets so busy and you understand that so it isn’t that big of a deal to you
when you first started dating and he had a comeback, you felt like your relationship was on the rocks but he explained to you that’s just what it is going to be like since his schedule is packed during those times
of course you understood
you’d rather have a relationship with wonwoo that was hard sometimes than a relationship with anyone else that was easy
you’d do anything for him
“how’s practice going? is the choreo ready?” you say eating your final piece of food
he leans back in his chair stretching, “ah, yeah it’s there..just a few things to clean up”
“that’s good! i’ve already bought my streaming pass for the music shows,” you respond proudly
“ah speaking of music shows, can i borrow that book of yours? the one you texted me about the other day? i need something to read while we just waiting around backstage,” wonwoo says and lets out a yawn
you get up and walk over to your coffee table picking up the same book you slipped the letter into
you flipped through it to take it out, but then you had an idea
“i’ll go put it in your bag for you!” you exclaim, quickly shuffling over to his bag and putting in the book
with a smile on your face, you turn around to see wonwoo putting his shoes on
“so soon?” you say, smile slightly fading
walking up to you, he softly grabs your face and kisses your forehead
“i know, i know…” he says pulling you into his chest
letting out a soft sigh only you can hear you respond, “no, no it’s okay, i understand”
grabbing you by the shoulders, he makes you look at him
you stare up into his brown eyes, searching your face for any sort of negative emotion
“i’m serious! it’s okay, i understand. we’ll see each other more soon,” you smile and lean up, wrapping your arms around his neck and kissing him deeply
you’re interrupted by his phone buzzing in his pocket
“ah, that must be one of the boys…i should probably go,” he says remorsefully
you nod slightly, watching him grab his bag and open the door
following behind him, you lean your head against the door frame
wonwoo turns around, “thanks for lunch”
“ah…i love you,” you respond
he smiles and comes up to you giving you one more kiss goodbye
watching him walk away, you can’t help but wait for him to find the letter
after you cleaned up from lunch, you decided to get a head start on an assignment due soon when your phone buzzes
seeing it’s a text from wonwoo, you smile to yourself and open your phone
you had the biggest smile on your face that only wonwoo could give you
you go flop down on the couch and stare up at the ceiling, clutching your phone to your chest
your heart was fluttering because maybe your relationship wasn’t perfect (how could it be when you’re dating an idol), but it was perfect for you
This is based on the titular song by Arctic Monkeys, and the vibe I got/ scene I imagined from it. This is the first time I’ve ever really done something like this, the closest I got prior was Somewhere Only We Know(Seungkwan), so I hope this turned out okay. Please leave me comments so I can hopefully write better in the future!

Leather jacket, collar popped like antenna
Never knowing when to stop
Sunglasses indoors, par for the course
Lights in the floors and sweat on the walls
Cages and poles
The club was busy, this time of night it always was, men and women dancing on every available surface, spinning around the gold poles and all wearing so little. It was hard for him not to check them all out, any of these people could be the distraction he was looking for, just another body to distract him from her.
“Be honest man, you hate coming here.” Vernon shouts over the music, his arm thrown over the young man who had been in one of the cages just a few moments pior. “Why do you?” Wonu throws his friend a grin, gesturing around to the mass of bodies.
“No chance I won’t get laid tonight.” He shouts back, earning a whoop from another person dancing.
“You’re just looking for distractions, Wonu, you’re looking in all the wrong places.” Vernon nods at his boyfriend’s words.
“Boo’s right, there’s more than just getting laid.”
“You’re right, I’m getting a drink.”
She's having a sly indoor smoke
She calls the folks who run this her oldest friends
Sipping her drink and laughing at imaginary jokes
As all the signals are sent, her eyes invite you to approach
Of course he noticed you, how could he not? The golden dress , the cigarette dangling from your lips, and the brightly colored drink sitting on the bar in front of you, everything about you drew him in. He couldn’t seem to look away from you, so sure he knew you, but so unsure of where from. You spoke happily to the bartender, an old friend of Wonu’s, and it seemed a friend of hers as well. A smile was painted across your ruby lips as you laughed at something Joshua said, and Wonu was absolutely stuck. Why was his heart beating so fast? You must have felt him staring, because your gaze shifted from Josh to him a few seconds after he initially spotted you. Your smile broadened, head tilting slightly, beckoning him to the seat next to you.
She's a certified mind blower, knowing full well that I don't
May suggest there's somewhere from which you might know her
Just to get the ball to roll
“Josh,” He calls as he takes his seat in the barstool next to you, not even having to place his order before the drink is set next to him.
“Well, Joshy seems to know you, you a regular, sugar?” The words fall from your lips with ease, and from that moment on, Wonu is hooked.
“Something like that, what about you? I’ve never seen you here before, but I’m sure we’ve met before.” You tilt your head slightly as you think, tapping your chin.
“Maybe we have, maybe it was another life?” You muse, giving him another ruby smile. “Do you believe in past lives?”
“I do.” Wonu nods, leaning closer to you, “Maybe that’s why I came over here, cause I remembered you.” The laugh that bubbled from your lips had Wonu’s heart catching in this throat. “I’m Wonwoo, but most people call me Wonu.”
“Y/n.”
“Y/n.” He let your name roll from his lips, loving how it sounded. “Well, Y/n, can I buy you a drink?”
“I’d love that.”
It's not like I'm falling in love I just want you to do me no good
And you look like you could
“It’s so beautiful at Sunrise, you should go sometime.” You insisted.
“But at sunrise?” Wonu groaned. “I rarely get up before noon.”
“Then just stay up all night.” You shrugged, glancing down at her phone. “It's almost three now, and the sun rises at about 5:30.”
“Wonu, Y/n,” Josh called, making the pair of you glance over. He taps his watch, letting them know it was almost time to leave.
“Let’s go to the river then.” You chirp, and Wonu can’t help but smile. His heart was still racing, which didn’t help his own confusion. Why was he so stuck on you? All he had wanted before he met you was someone to distract him, and you were doing just that, just not the way he had planned. No doubt he was attracted to you, and no doubt he would die to get you in his bed, but right now he just wanted to be around you.
“Sure.” He caves, downing the last of his drink and extending his hand to you. Something feels right as you slide your hand into his, something warm settling in his chest as he looks up to see her.
She’s not as beautiful as he remembered, at least not in a way that makes his heart hurt. Her lips, which had been painted a soft pink were pulled into a small frown, the scar just next to them a dark shadow. She hadn’t noticed him yet, and for that he was thankful. Instead of his usual act of getting angry or rushing for another drink, he turned his attention back to you, letting you lead him from the bar.
It must have been your laugh, or maybe even his, but as he strode happily from the bar, he felt her gaze on him one last time before your voice enveloped his brain.
svt and the types of energy they give off; hip hop unit
in honor of seventeen’s comeback on the 21st, i wanted to do something for them, and since i've done this kind of post with other groups, i thought it would be nice if i did it for seventeen as well! this is the first installment, the next one will be vocal unit, so look out for it please as we anticipate their comeback!
seungcheol
coups gives off big silly brother vibes, he’s that guy that will goof off and have a great time with you, but is also the most reliable person to ever exist
he’s also got big empathy so he seems like he’s the guy to vent to but he also needs to vent so it’s a big cycle of venting and helping each other when needed
he’s the excitement leading up to going to an amusement park but immediately chickening out of any thrill rides as soon as they’re mentioned
he’s also the feeling of waking up thinking you have your day planned out, only to have it be changed so many times over the course of the day that you don’t even remember what you had initially set out to do by the end of it
wonu
the first thing that comes to mind when thinking of wonu is tsundere, but not in the typical cold hearted, slow to open up way; he’s just a shy bub who needs time to open up and feel comfortable, but when he does, he’s unapologetically him
wonu is that guy that you see all the time but never talk to because he seems really cold and distant, but the moment you catch a glimpse of his smile, all you feel is that doki doki feeling in your heart
he’s the feeling of sitting down with your favorite book, worn out from the amount of times the pages have been flipped through, in the evening to wind down from a busy day
he’s also the feeling of waiting till midnight for the drop of whatever content you’ve been waiting so long for and that satisfaction of soaking it all in as soon as possible
mingyu
mingyu is the epitome of being clumsy and owning it with an apologetic smile, only to repeat the cycle as soon as it’s over
he’s a big puppy personified; he’s very simple and needs attention and affection, but sulks the moment he doesn’t receive either, he also isn’t fully aware of his size, which just adds to his clumsy factor
he is sitting on a balcony to watch the sunset with a blanket and a bottle of merlot, quietly soaking in the beauty of the changing shades in the sky
he is also staying home and cooking dinner for one, but ending up having more food than you can eat yourself, which results in you calling friends over to finish it all
hansol
hansol is that friend you can call up at any time, day or night with, an idea in mind and he’s down for it, regardless of if it’s a big adventure or a simple stay in hangout
he’s waking up super late on an important day and taking it in stride instead of freaking out
he’s planning a weekend get together for friends and putting in all the effort for the details to make it perfect, just to throw it all away last minute and live in the moment of having a good time
he is a closet full of staple items mixed with statement items, so much so that you don’t know what fits what category anymore
