yayyyyy i finished making the wordcount tracker i been messing around with since a few days before november started :D

now i have very little excuse to keep procrastinating on writing.... (except fixing up the rest of my site to be nicer and cleaner and more in-line with the Fancy CSS i used on this thing i guess xD)

Happy NaNoWriMo!

It’s that time of year! While I’m not writing a novel this time, I still want to document the writing I’m doing for fun. So here’s a cute little tracker I made to update my progress through the month toward 50k words. That’s only 1,613 words per day. I can do it...probably.

If you like this little thing, you can find it over on CodePen. As you add your wordcount to each day on the calendar, your total will update automatically. Just remove the little icon for the day and replace it with your wordcount! I will not be offering support for this, but if you do use it, please leave the link back to my blog so others can find my work. Happy writing!

Way back when I was new to NaNo, Morange - our leader, gave me a table I have used every NaNo since to keep track of my word count for that month. I've decided to make a copy to share with you all! (Please make your own copy before using it).

Writing Update (June 2020)

A little wrap-up of all things Jane fic in June.

Introducing Wordcount Tracker 2.0

Many of you are currently using my wordcount tracker and tell me that you find it really useful. (Which I love hearing btw, it’s nice to know I’m not the only one who enjoys a good spreadsheet)

I also have available my #weekendwordcount tracker for when you are trying to meet a goal over a weekend/short time. I sometimes throw weekend wordcount sprints over on Twitter where I try to write 10k (or whatever our goal is) in a weekend. Come join me!

BUT I’ve recently changed up how I’m tracking my wordcounts/WIPs so I thought I would share the new version with you.

New features include: 

- New monthly tabs with even more numbers!  You can now track the number of words you need to write each day to hit your monthly goals in real time in the monthly tab. This is based on what I put together for nanowrimo this year and I really like the new layout. It’s a bit busier than the previous one so if you prefer simplicity you might want to stick with that.

- Fics Posted graphs Track when/how much you posted throughout the year with this table and graph. You can see when you posted the most throughout the year, and any months where you didn’t post at all

- WIP Tracker By far the biggest addition is the WIP tracker tab. If you’re like me and you have multiple projects on the go it can sometimes be useful to see where you are with each, as well as overall. This trackers wordcount goals, whether something is posted, and how much ou have left to go! so you’ll never get yourself into a chaotic mess again. 

REMEMBER: Embrace the chaos, but also put the chaos in a spreadsheet so that it doesn’t overwhelm you. 

The old wordcount trackers are still going to be available, and I’m still happy to answer questions about all of them, I just thought I’d make this one available as well.

Wordcount - June 2018

We've come full circle and have now done a year of this! Crazy!

June looked like this:

Phew! Lots of projects.

Which leaves out year like this:

Higher than we were this time last year despite fedij being less words.

And July is shaping up to be a little busy too as I work on 4 diff writing projects. Though hopefully 2 of those will be finished soon.

Wordcount - April 2018

Wow, if I thought March was unproductive, what happened to April huh? 

I mean posting wise it wasn’t, but wordcount wise? yeah. 

Didn’t even break 10k. The days I did write I generally wrote over 1k (minus a couple of days) but I didn’t write as many days as I should have. 

Still, here is how it breaks down:

Mostly things you’ve seen but some bits that I’m working on for another time :)

Here are the things I posted: 

- Parallel Lines (a Prologue) for the @phandomficfests Spring/New Beginnings Fic Fest

- Parallel Lines (Chapters 1 2 and 3)

- Six Centimetres a Second my easter gift for the @easterphandomgifts

So that was it. You can see I’m also working on something temporarily called Hospital (because it doesn’t have an actual title yet) you might see this around... um... June.
