Ngl, I saw your art post about some of your other series, and I want you to do what you do best. Your interests and hobbies. I came here for the Kingdom Hearts content, squealed at the FFXV content, about lost my mind when I saw you doing BNHA art, and now I just stay because your art is fucking awesome! You rock Des and don't let downhearted 'fans' get under your skin! I may not follow FFXIV as closely, but reading about your adventures is what makes me smile.

So I *FINALLY* stopped being lazy and fixed up my SE account to play FF XIV. Daaaaaamn that's a hell of a lot of info to take in. Plus this combat system is unlike anything I've ever experienced. Any tips for noob so wet behind the ears, you can still hear Sora singing "Swim this Way"?

I hardly consider myself an expert but here’s some advice:

Don’t be afraid to use guides! There are soooo many resources on YouTube that tell you all you need to know about your bosses, how to set up your UI to your liking, and tips on how to play your job correctly. They’re really helpful!!

Always do the quests with a blue marker, because they will always unlock a dungeon or special reward. (One of these quests unlocks your ability to use mounts and until the next patch drops in August, this quest is MISSABLE, so be sure to keep an eye out!!)

Do your job quests. Pay attention to the level cap that unlocks the next quest in your job and be sure to go back and do it when you reach that level. Job quests unlock super important abilities and gear. Don’t miss them!

If you’re playing on PS4 like me, it is a worthy investment to buy a cheap wireless USB keyboard for chat. There are also some quests that require you to type out phrases for story progression... One of them in Shadowbringers is really long, and it doesn’t count if you make a typo..............

Doing your daily Duty Roulettes and FATEs at the appropriate level are good ways to grind EXP. Joining a Free Company (for the buffs), eating food, and equipping certain accessories will give you an additional EXP boost!

Make sure to equip your job stone in the Character menu when you hit Level 30.

Keep in mind that any clothing or weapons you put into the Glamour Dresser can no longer be directly equipped; they’ll be used for aesthetic only. Don’t think it’s an extra place to horde stuff...

Do the Hildibrand sidequests. They’re something else.

Don’t be afraid to ask for help. Lots of FFXIV players are super nice and helpful to new players.

What is your take on the voices of FFVII Remake as opposed to the voices that have been presented to us through all of these years? Personally, I find the majority of the actors quite tallented, but its just not what my heart was hoping for after all this hype. I can tollerate Cloud the most, but least favorite is 100% Reno. There is no substitue for Quinton Flynn.

I think the voices are FANTASTIC, and this is coming from someone who was bummed when I first heard that they were using completely new voice actors instead of some of the people who’ve been voicing the characters for years. I especially love Barret, Cloud, and Aerith. :>

Any tips for the last two data bosses? I've got them unlocked in my beginner mode clear file (playing through again on my proud mode clear flie now), so I know who I'm up against, but damn that HP bar shrinking ability is 100% uncalled for.

If you didn’t know this already, Ariel is an AMAZING DM skip. If there’s a part of a fight you really can’t get past (probably a DM), then you can use her to avoid taking most of the damage– and get in some hits of your own while you’re at it.

Heartbinder Links completely replenish your HP, so sometimes they actually give you more bang for your buck than popping a Cure spell, as long as you time them right.

I will say that both times I beat the bosses that gave me a lot of trouble (Xemnas AND the secret boss), I summoned Meow Wow once by accident… My good luck charm hahaha,,,,

Something the extra bosses reminded me of was that the R1 button does more than just activate Shotlocks. You can also use them to close in on bosses while they’re vulnerable.

Store useful Drive Forms for later. Oathkeeper, Oblivion, and Ultima Weapon have really useful blocks. I found myself storing them and using them to dodge and parry attacks rather than to unleash their finishers. 

Be patient. This is rich coming from me considering how frustrated some of the bosses made me, but you really do have to learn some of these boss’s move-sets in order to beat them. You need to look for audio/visual cues and get the timing down for long combos– since the right time to block is sometimes delayed for one part compared to another.
