I’ve actually been debating this for a while, haha. Right now Gaster uses Comic Papyrus as a font and he (or the subs for his wingdings anyway - he is actually speaking in wingdings at all times but it’s subbed for ease of reading) propercases to put him between Sans and Papyrus, sort of like the midpoint between the brothers, or a combination of them both if that makes sense. Also it helps differentiate his text a bit from theirs. But at the same time his journal entry in the game is written in all caps, so technically the subs should be in caps as well, probably. I’m flipflopping back and forth on whether to shift his subs to all caps or not, haha.
I’m thinking probably not unless he gets tired of the screaming or they’re really being resistant. For some of the experiments he may keep them awake to try and get feedback on what he’s doing - Papyrus was awake when he sawed his head off for example.
He tries very, very hard not to care about them at all. It makes things a lot easier that way. Sometimes, though...
