And so it Begins
Aillin did her best to cradle the small creature in her arms whilst trying to navigate the maze of hallways that made up the hidden fortress under her home. Had it not been for the adrenaline rush that had hit her moments before, both the creature and herself would have been in very different situations.
Her red eyes darted from side to side, unable to focus on the path ahead as she took in the very scope of this place. A hidden lab, some sort of prison for the many experiments her parents supposedly worked on. She had no knowledge of this, her parents had never been open with her after all. But she could believe it, given what she had seemingly become after the incident.
Back then it had made little sense to her. Waking up one day to discover she had changed. Day by day discovering things she never knew about herself, only to find they were not natural parts of who she was but something her parents had turned her into.
She could hear them shouting now. Calling for her, cursing her name. She was the daughter of those monster makers. The people who forced all of them into cages, like animals. They had every reason to hate her, even more now after she carelessly cut through the ones hurting her friend.
But she couldn’t stop now, she couldn’t say sorry for something for a crime she did not commit. She had her own reason for hating the experiments, a reason that she felt justified her actions.
She continued to run until her body was thrown back by another figure colliding with her own, tripping her back on the unruly garments they had forced her into.
