Clancy, the main character, is a citizen of a city called Dema, a grey circular cement city located on the continent of Trench. A group of Nine Bishops rule over every aspect of life in Dema with a necromantic power called Seizing, and don't allow anyone to leave the city. The leader of the Bishops is called Nico, aka Blurryface, and he is the main villain of the story. Clancy doesn't agree with the Bishops, and repeatedly tries to escape the city, with the help of a rebel group in the wilds of Trench called the Banditos. The Bishops always find a way to hunt him down though, and drag him back to Dema again and again, in a neverending cycle. With every cycle, Clancy gains new knowledge and power, in hopes that with help from the Banditos, he'll finally break it for good ...

The story symbolizes the continous battle against mental illness encouraging those who struggle to keep fighting for a new day, acknowledging the fact that its a continuous cycle and though it may seem pointless to keep going, u do gain something each time which makes the next challenge easier to get through. It also encourages ppl to look out for others, check on ur frnds, support those who u know are struggling, just like the Banditos supported Clancy.
