recently rewatched a playthrough of little nightmares 1 and 2, and drew calamari’s folks with said videos as background noise :]! was trying out different styles of brushes and things on ibispaintX, and had quite a bit of fun doing so. i’ve been easing into doing stress relief art and this was a good example of that?

💙 - [gouche brushes, some watercolor] was playing around with the various palettes he was given in arts of him by calamarispider, and sort or blended them all together. I love how blurry mind looks, almost as if you’re passing out while viewing the image. fits with the medical vibe! he looks like he’s skulking away in shame or fear or something. i think i made him look weak because i’m a mind enthusiast. damn. the dark background makes it feel gloomy and mellow, but also scary?

❤️ - {marker primarily, little watercolor} i know he’s like 🧍 but his presence alone can be intimidating, that stare could drive away anyone and he *knows* it. played around a lot with layers and lasso stuff here, and leaned more into a sketchy style almost as if he’s barely there. i love the background in particular because it’s grey and not red, giving him a loss of and a heightening of individuality. doing the hair was fun XD. i specifically remember the fella i was watching play little nightmares 2 at this point getting frustrated with the teacher. silly memory

💜 - (watercolor, pencil pens) this one bounces around styles a lot, and it almost makes him seem more real? i was frustrated with it at first, but i love how some parts of him are more complex and sharp than others. mixed two art references of heart calamarispider had drawn, giving him a sketchy little eye and a more unseen bleeding eye under the blindfold. it looks cool i think :]. this was a big experimentation piece that i look back fondly on :D! I love them all but this especially. I love heart’s almost ‘angel of death’ wing cloak things haha

today i extensively scrawled down (neatly ordered) gabbering thoughts (reoccurring details) about my cccclinic guys’ phycological and emotional traits (that checks out). i have. a front and back and front of a lined paper with all the lines filled. i have been COOKING. i am at WORK. i am EXPANDING on their LORE💥💥

mind and whole are finished, and heart’s almost done :]. soul will soon be too! i recommend this exercise a lot—having a place to put all your overlapping hyperfixating character thoughts is awesome, and you can figure them out along the way! you’ll come up with new traits as you write and have fun :] (ex. how they express anxiety, their general demeanor, reasons for disliking what they dislike). and!! for me it helped with perfectionism a lot! on one side i wanted to put the same info as the other (in terms of field. different ways two characters do/feel the same thing, etc) but i DIDN’t!! because notes can be MESSY!!!! and it’s AWESOME!!! and OH my god i need to sleep

also it helped me humanize characters i don’t usually think about :]. i’m a bigger mind fan than a heart fan so i don’t usually focus on him, and end up giving him a general concept for the story—a loose and shallow demeanor that i expand on less than the other two. i changed that today!! i’m don’t like when people infantallize heart or anyone of the gang, and was afraid i was doing that myself with the lack of thought. he’s a real guy with real problems and real mistakes he’s made! all of ‘em are! and those are FACTs. anywyas. passes out.

i have pages of designs for the three that i doodled in my school sketchbook, and honestly i can’t pick one so i’m using ✨all of them✨. switching em out yknow?? maybe i accidentally created a bunch of aus instead of characters(??) because they all have loops that happen in different ways, or maybe they *are* the same but in different loops—the chonny paradox. anyways uhm some fellas to mention: nerd mind, merve (<3), deltarune soul, roe, toy-style soul, tadc mind (half an accident), a rabid heart, simon mind, an awesome enby soul…heart with heart-eye glasses but then disruptivevoid reblogged someone’s cute render of the same idea— (honestly, lmao)

but anyways I want to show off one design of soul in particular that has become an extremely fast favorite between me and my fellow rain-jash friend Sluggx!! it’s kinda gorey so i don’t know how to censor it :[, but the image is small so scroll past if the warnings above irk you. but uh. say hi to Dyadracide—a word i coined that means “to kill the duo”

had the idea of designing a buttload of minds a bit ago, then recently this week i decided the same for soul. doodled him at school, then showed him to my friend via whiteboardfox :]. i draw Dyadra semi different now than there, but all his design is the same. rope neck that coils up inside his body when not in use, oversized pointy teeth (went monochromatik style with human teeth originally but nah), frizzly uhkempt hair, and a trident through his head. he’s always bleeding from the roof of his mouth, whether the trident is retracted into his skull or not. i love him so much😭💛. he has a full body and even a cute little gut but that’s kept for later for now. consider this a teaser of my inner workings :monk_devious:

ive been drawing him *SOOo* muchhh aaugha…can’t wait to show you when i can :]. building a batch of art for a tumblr post that i’ll dump later today maybe. get ready for some fun and gore galore~ (its not too gorey, just the trident-through-head-hes-always-choking-on-his-own-blood concept in full force. yummy ideas have to be explored huhu)

Bonus Content Below: An Ode to an Old Series (Slugcat Marker Doodles)

there was a series i posted on my amino account when i first got into rainworld called slugcat marker doodles. it’s exactly what you think: simple doodles of the slugcats using my different colored markers on white paper. i still have all the pages today, I think. wow. it’s been what, 2 years??

i used to include all the slugcats—not just the vanilla and downpour ones! every campaign they added on raindb i played and drew; spookcat, martyr, wanderer, kingcat, thicc cat, the whole batch. and i had loads of fun—there are dozens of pages and countless memories made.

eventually the series stopped once i posted the last entry (a dump of the rest of the pages), and time passed. i started experimenting, and my style grew and diverged into different ones with varying levels of detail. drawing these on thursday made me remember my roots. and it especially fun drawing the fellas again with my “hypnotizing, shapely, muscle-memory-based goofy sluggie style” i’ve recently acquired.

will the series return in full? i’m not sure. my other doodles recently were just graphite because i don’t (usually) have enough time to use different colors while taking notes. this situation was unique because we were covering something i knew very well so i finished it early. and, this situation surprised me because i tried something new instead. if i do make more, i definitely won’t make the posts super elaborate like how i did originally (which contributed to the end of the series itself).

HEHE!! my mom found some gluten free garlic bread recently and it’s good! the crust is a bit thick and has an odd taste, but its bread :]. dunno how they do it without the wheat. i found a really good brand—nature’s own i think? and another with a blue and yellow color scheme. before then i dealt with all the cheap gf bread crumbling in my hands like that on gif :gone:, which was pain. but!! now i found a good brand and can make sandwiches :]. for dinner along with gf pizza, i had a nutella + peanut butter sandwich on toasted bread with (barely ripe) banNAnAs inbetween!! it was great but messy. now im hungry for oatmeal with raisins and bananas like how my grandma makes it. she adds milk too?? i think i tried that once or twice in minnesota. yum.

i would not enjoy the lack of oxygen but i would roll and do snow angles in the moon dust :]!! kick around rocks like that one time in the parking lot in 2nd grade. pretend im the uuhhhhhh space. worm. from star wars. that’s no cave!!!!!! maybe when the moon moved around in orbit i could see the earth directly above me :]. the moon is so cool chat. anyways man i miss ballpits. AND FOAM PITS omg. back in my gymnastic days,,,woah. is there a moon-crater-themed ballpit?? out there?? anD THE PLASTIC BALLS ARE PLANETS??? i was a huge space nut when i was little—black holes were the ultimate hyperfixation. i made a poster on one in elementary school but idk where it is. i referenced a space book for it and remember folding the pages so much with my nervous-page-corner-origami-habit that the words faded </3. and then years later i found kursgesagt and had the most fun watching the little birds figure out physics and tell me about it!! my gratitude journalling habit came from a journal THEy SOLd on their store!! i love it sm there’s so much improvement in that thing. took me many months to actually start writing but it changed my life /posi. amazing. friggin,,,space,,,and!! i learned about uhm dark nebulas from a district? test? at one of my old schools!! there was an excerpt about them and i looked it up afterwards. so awesome. i nEEd to make a character based off of them grraaughh..so coo-
