You are totally replaceable at work. You are not replaceable at home. Home is your real life. Keep that perspective. Always
A reminder for me when I easily forget this anytime there is a "fire" at work.

We don't talk enough about how much of a drag working is. Imagine being on vacation, and after the first couple of days of getting used to not having to go into the office, you start developing a routine of sleeping in, spending quality time with friends and family, and reconnecting with old hobbies like drawing, writing, or even playing an instrument. That becomes your life for the next week or two, depending on how long your vacation is.
And then one day, you're suddenly overwhelmed with dread—the dread of having to go back to work. And just like that, the routine you have developed and the comfort you have gotten used to are no more. You're back to waking up early Monday through Friday, climbing into your used car, sitting in traffic for God knows how long, only to drive to an office downtown somewhere to do a job that you could have easily done from home.
I'll never understand how and why we convinced ourselves that we were meant to spend a huge chunk of our lives working and making someone else richer.
I just worked 17 hours straight.
I've worked 30 hours in the last 48. 🫠
Sheeeeeeesh.

I generally like Noah Hawley and I love the Fargo TV series, but the answer to this question is,
“I am a white guy who is given the benefit of the doubt for every project I do and doesn’t have to expend extra physical, mental and emotional energy to be taken seriously. I also have a wife.”
