Unions are not a one-size-fits-all solution to worker exploitation. At best, they protect workers from the worst effects of capitalism.
Corporations spend lots of money trying to bust unions because of the threat they pose to wage theft -- with nearly $8 Billion dollars stolen from workers yearly. In other words, our bosses wants us to work more for less, stealing the surplus value. Workers take all the risk, do most of the hard work, and have the least to show for it.
Unions allow workers to get the most value out of their labor. When separated by the managerial class (bosses, CEO's) and forced to compete, workers are made to earn less than they would if they collectively bargained for fair wages and safe conditions for their work.

Request: unionized Starbucks worker looking for short zines
Subject: focus on labor organization and unions to help make sure all coworkers have access to theory/history to undergird their strong vibes.
The request for short zines is specifically so papers can be re-printed and replaced cheaply as needed if management finds and throws them away.
For some more background, this is a successfully unioned Starbucks location with workers who need to have some reading to help them deepen their feelings and understand the importance of solidarity, union-busting tactics, etc., during the long slog till a contract is actually completed.
This group is prolly not ready for explicitly insurrectionary anarchist material yet that might turn them off from workplace organizing.
We got some good recommendations from Filler Distro and for William Gillis's archive, but for clarity, this is an audience that needs some soft food before being ready for the tougher meat that these zines represent.

Ok so like, I know we hate Tumblr Live because none of us asked for it and they appear to be making fake celebrities to use it and it’s using some weird third party that seems shady, I get that.
However, the print shop is entering what we in the biz call “the dead season” wherein nobody orders shirts and we struggle to survive. I was toying around with the idea of streaming while I make shirts or design a sequel to my game, or some stupid shit. A friend was like, go on Twitch, and I’m like, friend I am 42 and I know jack shit about twitch. I am an old and I am uncool and I dunno, Tumblr is my place, ya know? Why would I want to do anything outside of this place where my friends are?
I would stream and talk about workplace organizing and answer questions about worker owned cooperatives and non-hierarchical ways of organizing a business and trying to be ethical with it and shit like that, and maybe people would dig it?
I’m also unaware if I can even do what I want to do on Tumblr live? Can I v-tube on it? I have a cute little avatar I made of me and everything.
Maybe I’m rambling. I dunno. You people in my computer are basically my community besides the union in my city, so help me out. I need advice besties.

The following report comes from the Seattle Solidarity Network, an autonomous grouping of workers and tenants which uses direct action to fight collectively at workplaces and against landlords. Here, they go up against a huge temp agency, which quickly fell back on their own backup, the police. “Members of SeaSol continued to place themselves in …
“We marched straight into their 6th-floor office and successfully delivered the demand to a manager in the middle of a worker orientation class. After delivering the demand the group left the office and moved to exit the building but were met in the lobby by no less than 8 Renton Police Department officers. The police officers immediately asked for Karim by name so SeaSol formed a protective barrier around him as our designated police liaison tried to communicate that our action was over and we were in the process of vacating the premises. Unfortunately, Renton PD chose to begin throwing people out of the way and aggressively grabbed for Karim yelling “we don’t have a warrant for his arrest yet” as they pulled him out of the group and led him outside. Members of SeaSol continued to peacefully place themselves in between Karim and the police so as to prevent them from totally isolating him. People filmed from just a few feet away as the police performed a search of Karim, the only black man at the action, to help ensure the police did not engage in any illegal repression. Once their search of him was complete, they began attempting to drive a wedge between SeaSol and Karim by acting as a mouth piece for LGC Hospitality by imploring us to stop and let them tell us LGC’s made-up story about Karim threatening to “shoot up the place.” Needless to say the minute he was released by the police officer, the group ignored the police, reconvened and immediately left the premises to disperse as they had originally been trying to do. Less than 24 hrs after this demand delivery, LGC Hospitality got in touch with Karim and offered to pay him around $1,600 to settle the dispute.”
