Potters family | World Without Voldemort
passing on the invisibility cloak
<action takes place in World Without Voldemort au, Willow Potter's pronouns are he/they>
Harry held up the material. It seemed heavy in his hand, like he needed to grip it firmly.
"Take it." he said.
Willow was staring with eyes wide open, sight jumping from Harry to cloak, to the room doors and circled again. It seemed to good to be true, his hands were up in the air but he stopped himself from reaching. No, don't get your hopes up.
It's been six months since Willow asked Harry for the cloak and long story short, dismissed the idea almost immediately, not daring to even think about it again.
"But.. I thought-"
It felt so good to see his brother holding it out, for them. But a lot changed since they wanted it. He didn't need it like he once did and, well,
He wasn't as important as others, so this cannot be happening, Harry can't mean it.
They can't take it. They're just meaningless Willow and the cloak would just feed their broken ego. They were older now, the importance of the magic item more significant, it comes with burden - expectations.
I don't deserve it.
"Take it." Harry repeated. He was touching his neck like he always did when he was uncomfortable. See, clearly, he didn't want this to be happening. It's a mistake.
But he was smiling, in such gentle, awkward way. Apologetic.
And this feeling Willow thought dead, long forgotten bloomed in his chest. Harry chose to give it to them. Not Matilda, not Juliet, not kept it for himself.
But Willow. When it clearly been months and they never asked for it again. Even tho they weren't close. Harry chose them.
So they allowed themself to be filled with this naive feeling of love and reached for the cloak.
