Was there at any point any urchin prodigies or urchin 'success' stories in the Time Balance Department or was it such an overall failure that nothing akin to that was promoted.

well. it WAS considered an overall failure but there were still some exceptions, like out of the hundreds maybe thousands of people working in the tbd theres like. Max 20 that actually made up THATS HOW BAD IT IS. AND THEY HAD LIKE THOUSANDS OF URCHIN RECRUITS TOO!!!! most of them either just straight up DIED or they shoved themselves away to whatever corner would take them (marble bread) and suffered. urchin prodigies dont even really say they’re urchins because they all signed an nda or something like that so you didnt get it from me but: its fondue, povodine-iodine, litmus and black vinegar . the scoop is a special case where they just let a whole division of urchins go wild with the cases. they dont get paid because theyre not as known to the general rest of the tbd and they live in their little laboratory as well. its fucked

AND FOR THE URCHIN KIDS… who arent really urchins sorries. instead i feel like the tbd has had an incident where instead of just interning grown adults they decided to invest for the far future and get a bunch of KIDS who would get TWICE the amount of training with HALF the resources because theyre so small <- (false. children need as much if not more but apparently they didnt figure that out because theyre all disconnected from their childhoods (its been long)) so instead they got a bunch of homeless kids/runaways/kids who were just in abusive homes and took them in because they “didnt have anyone who would miss them” .

it should be noted that they were treated like SHIT ! free unpaid labour plus having them die over and over again (they were prone to dying whilst dealing with timelines, which can actually be rectified so long as the body matter is still in tact) (this doesnt go for dealing with temporal energy that shit will ERASE you) (end workers). sometimes if their mentors thought them to be too bothersome they would quite literally just not bring them back OR bring them back as food instead for a starving cafeteria. thats how little they were recognised as people truly and this went on as long as possible until the majority of them became adults (all while they were hiring adult interns while all of this was happening by the way) . they still live at the tbd like actually.

dark fondue (yes thats fondue) is strict, passive aggressive and bittersweet due to this because its what she believes is the only logical outcome after experiencing all of That. ESPECIALLY All Of That with her mentor (former mentor anyway) (a little shy putting this out there but hey this au isn’t EXTREMELY extremely popular anyways so.) (she watches him with his gruff demeanour as he mentions kindly to the struggling intern that they should take a break for a bit. she wonders how far shes fallen and what shes done to deserve being so Evil according to her circumstances. why didnt she get all of this?) . shes coping fine and truly she wishes deep inside that it was different but thats not professional and anyways she has a job to get to. shes not going to manage to process this for a long time. she came from a father who was hostile and volatile and she was in the middle of escape when she was suddenly grabbed (and threw quite the fuss as well ! you can see a scar on a certain someone from that though he might call it off as a ‘work accident.’)

marble bread grows disillusioned and aimless, with the majority of their ambitions being completely wiped out from sheer depression. they’ve been berated and treated like nothing but scum and its hard to actually be motivated to be anything beyond that. they’ve grown especially miserable when dark fondue after her “internship” starts to distance herself further and further from marble bread in the first place, she sees them as a threat to her entire sense of being (she HAD to suffer to be Great, so clearly the suffering was Necessary. now why arent they Great like her? maybe theyre just being lazy and making her look bad on purpose… surely…)

SILENT SALT FINGERSPELLING. well that also brings the history of cookie sign language which i plan on delving into because its fun but the main thing is: while sign language was around by silent salts time it was mostly within smaller local communities and wasnt really “standardised” until ouroboros had to develop the language somehow (based roughly on asl) (formerly called the ourocian language and then old-cycian when ouroboros’s name started fading away) and teach it to cookies so silent salt would be able to communicate with them in the future (since their cookie vocal folds would completely shut down and suffocate them) . Eventually when silent salts a while into commanding the kala namak knights they developed their own branch of this focused on substituting gestures into simpler ones or using different gestures when needed (because cookies might lose a few fingers or even a whole hand during this, fighting wasnt fun) . generally the difference is without going into grammar (thats a whole OTHER thing), facial expressions are used a lot less though head movement in general is used a lot more, and it was also simpler because a lot could be communicated through the pheromone long-distance messages that were passing through already + a mix of military hand signs already . this would be equi-ourocian or equi-cycian (based roughly around hand talk i would imagine in terms of how words are constructed, they definitely did have to sign over long plains which is what i would imagine the salt barren lands to be back then)

thats not to say these are the only versions though ! different sign languages can be found in each of the five kingdoms (although that in dark cacao resembles equi-cycian the most, cacaoian-sign also requires silent communication over wide snowy spaces after all, though again there are differences. variants exist in communities near them too like the licorice twists or the coffee beans etc. etc.) and also in the earlier era of choco mud town (though a lot of it has been suppressed due to ‘suspicious communication’ seen by the creme republic) (fuck) and more from that. but silent salt communicates (and is the only one apart from like. salt cellar adn the dead kala namak knights) in old-cycian from habit. white lily knew a bit beforehand but that was when she was young and she had it secondhand from books but she never got to practice. but shes also trying now to respond to silent salt (whos a little more than pleased being heard like this)

What's Cream Ferret like the Ouro AU?

GOOD TIME FOR ME TO TALK ABOUT MY CREAM CRITTERS!!!! taking a lot of inspo from @blimbo-buddy and @creaturesofcrispia respectively (hiiiii guys i thought you might like this) . cream ferret is a survivor of the dark flour war, which had effectively managed to wipe out nearly all cream critters (though obviously some still remain.) theyre meant to live for a thousand years with their charge, and they gain their cookie form (the one thats anthro… often quadrupeds are either considered animals or beyond cookiehood. this results in a lot of strange perceptions about cream critters and also taurs respectively.)

cream ferret in specific had a while before they managed to find their charge, (that being MyCookie. or in this au… just Cookie. nobody ever bothered to name them and cream ferret wants them to be able to choose their own name, theyre still deciding) in which theyre extremely protective over cookie and would never wish to leave their side! though they also wish for more cream critters to talk to… it can get especially lonely.

…which brings me to my next point. another reason why cream cake weasel is let in so easily is because THEY said that they were a cream critter. CRAZY I KNOW but it somehow works because cream critters are sensationalised to near myth-status and are said to foretell new beginnings, and they arrived after a war. now relatedly, cream cake weasel hasn’t done JACK SHIT in terms of research and when meeting “another” cream critter you can instantly tell that its just bullshit because theyre missing a lot of cream critter traits (i should draw another cream critter to show this) 1: the curls and 2: the accessory. you can see the little scarf on cream ferret and that is because it is magic ! it is what lets them find their charge (it fills with a sort of unexplainable energy when the charge is near, like those metal detectors on beaches) and when they turn it just becomes a regular item. in their cream critter form the ribbons work like sylveons btw

cream critters were made by witches to take care of the growing cookie population as they were just starting out, just to make sure they didnt all literally die off in one second lol . and they all originated from the dessert paradise (which is actually where the ‘sugar swan is god’ thing came from because news flash: she is NOT god to me im sorry. still wonderful though) cookies resemble animals the most in terms of variation in size and appearance but other sophonts (like dragons, mermaids and yes: cream critters !) i plan on making posts on because they can all be categorised easier in terms of appearance. did you know faeries arent really bugs like how cookies are bugs. cookie bugs are usually taurs. this is also what makes ash salt so different

im aware this could prompt an ouroboros-with-skin … but ive actually been thinking . if you’ve noticed (and if ive done it well) a familiars transformation is inspired by what theyre known for . attorney is a bat and bats have ears and fangs so they have weird ears and fangs. servals have long weird legs and long weird ears so the intervener can have long weird legs as well. i guess weird teeth are just a thing in general because i like how they are. ouroboros is the only one who doesnt get this (weasels are long) and in fact might even be a little more shorter . though here is who they are ordinary-as-can-be. in this hypothetical this is the scrutiniser still and theyre mostly about eating up the old batches .
