Blowing On Embers

It was the perfect day for paperwork; Reimu had taken Mika to the Human village for some blessing or another, Kouhei and the staff were out on photographic sortie, and even Gosalyn was gone, presumably doing duck things. Everything was quiet, save the soothing sounds of a street minstrel a few blocks away, and the breeze from the window was comfortably cool, just barely hinting at the coming autumn. Ayup... Perfect day for filing.

Daichi stared at the insurmountable pile of documents, and tried to will it into oblivion... Reality, being stubborn, refused to submit to his demand. "Maybe I talk to Ms Knowledge about summoning a library Demon from Makai," he muttered as his mind desperately sought a decent excuse to put off the filing for one more day. Several minutes of useless faffing followed before he put down his pen and decided that he needed a break. A flight, he reasoned, will help me focus better.

One hop out the window later, and the Karasu was idly soaring away from responsibility and work. His leisurely cruise was soon interrupted however, when he spotted an odd sight; a one eyed woman... Er, wait. No, strike that; Daichi's ears reported that it was a one eyed Dragon man.

A smile split the reporter's face. If anything would take precedence over paperwork, it was an interesting story/person. He dove and landed a few meters to Seiryuu's right with an automatic bow. "Luk ba, Honored! Do you have a moment to chat?"

In the Kingdom of Blind Birds, the One-Eyed Dragon Rules!

While many assumed it was financially motivated, due to the lower land prices, Daichi Yuutamo had actually chosen the east slope of Youkai Mountain as the site for ITP headquarters intentionally. It wasn't glamorous, or conveniently close to the village near the summit, but it was just within earshot of the Wolf barracks that staffs the main gate to the lowlands.

Why would that matter, one might ask? Because it means that Daichi would often hear about weird intruders on the Mountain before news hit the village proper. He had his proverbial ear to the ground this way.

Usually, it didn't pay off, but today, it did... At least, the reporter hoped it had as he heard two Wolves discussing something about a Dragon wandering up the slope. Checking that his notebook and pen were in his pocket, he tightened the bandages around his head and darted out the door.

"Honored," he called out to the first non-Tengu he heard. "Pardon me! Are you the Dragon that just passed through the gate?"

"Ahahaaa~ A fellow Dragon hm?! Now that is something I have not seen in many many years--However you...Look rather ill..What is it that plagues you? Surely it can't be any normal illness?"

Akira opened his eyes, his blue eyed gaze somehow seeming reptilitan despite the fact that he’d not transformed a single aspect of himself; not willingly, at least.

“Drem yol lok, Dovah Kinbok. Hin monose zu’u.” [Greetings, elder. (lit: Dragon Leader) You honor me. (Lit: you give me glory).

"The humans. What else would it be?" the younger dragon wearily waved a hand outward as he returned to speaking Japanese, in a generic gesture that was apparently meant to encompass all humans on the outside.

"They were content to pray while their crops were withered and the rains would not come…they were so faithful when they depended on my river for their very survival. But now, I am all but forgotten in the advancement of their lives. Bah."

"They took my river and they used it for their filth.” Akira’s voice dripped with so much venomous disgust one might have half expected to see it dripping from his canines as he spoke.

"They used it to dispose of the refuse of pigs!” he all but snarled, steam leaking from the corner of his mouth.”My very life essence was clogged up with the cursed defecation of swine.”

He took a deep breath, to try and calm himself, and keep the proper respect the other dragon deserved.

"Of course, I have since severed my life essence from that river and have made my residence here, but it will take a while before the pure waters of the lake restore me to my full power.

Will there be anything else, Dovah Kinbok?”
