Hi, I’m bad
I spent a sizable chunk of yesterday listening to a tactless bloviating blowhard and his like-minded lackeys guildmates berate and ridicule folks who just wanted to play their character in World vs World and maybe have a good time. They were mocking anyone who didn’t fit into their little elitist mold, but then complained about not having enough DPS to be able to do anything with their numbers. (Hello, you keep insulting them, why would they stay to help you?)
I earned myself a kick from squad and their discord for defending myself and the “bads” on which they were looking down. I wished them all a good night and went on my merry way. After all, I didn’t NEED to be in his squad. I do just find on my own, and I had only joined to help out.
I mean, these folks were mocking and berating people who help keep our side moving forward and staying on top. Take for example: Roamers. “Roamers are bad.” Me personally, I have plenty of roamer friends. They get shit done that those kinds of squads can’t ... or won’t. So they don’t want to be in your squad, get over yourself.
Also: telling me not to heal or rez anyone not in squad is just gonna cause me to laugh at you.
They’d kick support folks out of squad for not being the “right class” or the “right build.” Honestly reminded me of high school.
So anyways, I logged in this morning to find an apology from another player for their guild’s behavior. This person was “appalled and embarrassed.” I wrote back saying it was no biggie, but advised them to join another AR/FC guild for WvW if they’re looking for a better quality group of folks to run with instead of that garden-variety gaggle of narcissists.
I guess what I’m trying to say is: if playing my toon the way I want and not letting someone else tell me how to enjoy myself makes me bad, then hi, I’m bad. :)
