Here are a few pictures of the Glenmorangie Distillery from my visit. I visited two distilleries on the same day with Balblair in the morning and Glenmorangie post lunch. I think all the drams at Balblair and over lunch made me forget to take videos! That said, I was pretty focused on taking pictures of the truly stunning stillhouse. Many of you would have seen these pictures on previous posts, but it's worth posting these again. They are the tallest stills in Scotland and the picture with people in it puts the height in perspective. This is a big factor in their gentle elegant spirit style. I've included some warehouse pictures as well to focus on their extra maturation. All their single malt is initially matured in ex-bourbon american oak casks before being matured in a plethora of other casks. They truly are the pioneers in the field and Dr. Bill Lumsden, their Head of Distilling & Whisky Creation is the genius behind the whiskies. Since I visited with a few friends, I ended up tasting a dozen of these delectable finishes. For someone wanting to understand the distinct flavours that various casks offer, I always recommend trying a few Glenmorangie expressions side by side. American oak is so important to their core single malt, that they even have their own forests in the Ozarks in the United States.
